Chhitkul is a village in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. During winters, the place mostly remains covered with the snow and the inhabitants move to lower regions of Himachal.
Chitkul, a village located on right bank of Baspa River, is the last village of the Baspa Valley and the last village on the old Hindustan-Tibet trade route. It is also the last point in India one can travel to without a permit.

Chitkul is located in Kinnaur Valley in Himachal Pradesh. Kinnaur is known as the land between earth and paradise. It is surrounded by Garhwal on the south and Tibet on the east. While the north side is surrounded by Spiti Valley and west by Kullu.
Chitkul is just 20 km away from the Uttarakhand border.
The Indo-Tibet border is just 90 km from Chitkul village. All civilian movement beyond Chitkul is prohibited. This is the reason why Chitkul is called the last village in India.
