Stephen Manderson (Professor Green): I’ve Been Good To Green
We’ve only gone and secured rapper, songwriter, and mental health advocate Stephen Manderson - AKA Professor Green!
It’s fair to say Professor Green is a true legend of UK rap. Renowned for his storytelling and lyrical flow, he’s brought us chart-topping hits like I Need You Tonight and Just Be Good to Green.
Beyond music, Manderson is a passionate advocate for mental health and personal self-development. He’s been candid about his struggles with anxiety, depression, and the devastating loss of his father to suicide. In this episode, Stephen opens up about his complex relationship with alcohol and substance misuse-sometimes overdoing it, sometimes reigning it in. Right now, he’s enjoying sobriety, though he’s clear it may not be a permanent state for him.
In this conversation, Green reflects on the sobriety label, shares his lifestyle pillars for feeling content, and explains how becoming a father has recalibrated his life.
T/W: This podcast contains conversation around suicide. Please only listen if it feels safe for you.

I’m only coming up to 5 months sober. But so far, the best thing that works for me if I ever think I want to drink, is “fast forwarding” to tomorrow morning for 30 seconds. It’s my non-negotiable if I have a wobbly moment. After that, if I still want to drink, I can think about it. But hopefully won’t ever. Why would I even risk swimming back out to sea once again when it could be that time I might not make it back to shore or back without damage like it was close to that so many times before
Just finished this one
Oh pick me 👋🏽
I’ve got a story to tell !!
Other?
I really enjoyed this, props to Abi. When she describes her moment of clarity you could feel the air change, really powerful thank you for telling your story x
Love Rox and Rich
This is a great interview; I find these two very real and entertaining.
Brilliant interview, Dave. I needed that (Cockney stranded in the Midlands).
Catherine's books have really helped me with my sobriety journey, love this podcast! ❤

Great content, as always! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
Great interview. I love how open Matt is. FYI his solo album is absolutely sick. I wish him all the best x
What a tool
Well.. what about benzodiazepines? You abruptly stop them, you've a chance of dying?
The most hated person in the uk
Sorry 😊
Dean😂
I listened to Dave a few months ago & has made me cut the alcohol right back, instead of doing a weeks alcohol in a night, just do a few units a night ! You are an inspiration,Dave , but you sound like Micky Fangon !
Steady on lugsy malone.
Beautiful episode !! 🏳️🌈❤ we do recover !
Love her ! Love from California
What a lovely chap xx
Isn’t this David guy in the closet
Great episode, she is wonderful to listen to.
Great video and very relatable. How this channel has only 560 subscribers, I’ll never know!
It’s a great channel but unfortunately apart from one or two guests, most are almost unheard of people! Seems to almost be a rule that they have odd names too!
thanks guys! Our main channel is over on Spotify/` Insta / Tiktok - we just upload here so it's easily accessible for others.
Been think of panch of prich lately that’s mad 😂 wondered what was happening with them these days, dirty sanchez was iconic
Thanks for sharing. I am from Vienna Europe and see many peers struggling in the scene with abuse. It somehow takes the spell from the magic of electronic music and makes the whole scene unsustainable and performing as an artist even harder as it already is. I hope content like this makes it easier for people to make a change for them selfs as well 🫶
Oh my god. What a survivor 🤍
3 years sober. Best decision of my life.
❤❤❤!!
Ozapft is
Inspiring story, so much I can relate to here. Well done Sami
Seems pretty wise for only 2 months AF. I hope you stick with it mate ❤
Great interview, this Dave guy is a legend
Best one ever. Wat a tail. Hats off to her and love ❤️
❤
This was amazing guys!!!
Are you and rich brothers?
Book is worth a read 👍🏻
This was nice. I’m completely pro 12 step programs. It’s definitely not the only way, but, it’s definitely 100% the only solution for me. Addiction is wicked, sickening illness. I salute anyone that gets sober and hopefully stays sober. This fella appears to know a little about addiction. If you ever want a few tips on addiction therapy Taner, please don’t hesitate in contacting me, I would love to share some advice I’m sure would help your practice.😉 Great pod guys, you interview, really well. ❤️🙏🏼
Thanks for having me on guys great connecting with you 🙏🏽
Have been following Issy for a while and new her story, but still absolutely loved that interview. Even for me as an outsider I found myself emotional, but so very happy for Issy. Thank you.
…Such a great podcast, how have I just discovered this?! I hope you get more views as it’s fantastic.
Bloody tattoos. World's crazy
Big fan of Spencer’s stories. I usually get a pint after work on my way home from the office to the station and today I walked passed the pub, felt good. Progress. Would like to know if Spencer was actually addicted to alcohol, or if it was just his lifestyle and he drank too much. He makes it sound like he gave up pretty easily
Love this woman ! I have a lot in common with her ❤
Awesome interview.
I wasn’t sure at the start of this episode if you would serve me in anyway. But damn I’m so pleased I carried on, because the way she describes her attitude towards it is me all over. Just started again after 100’s of attempts and thinking I can moderate
*it would serve me
Matts wills well done❤
