I just closed my retail-ish studio space and moved back home. It was only 7 miles from home. I had one wheel up there and a kiln a home but I used to take the student work to a firing service. I have business insurance and paid rent and electirc, water was free. I found i spent so much time running the space there wasn't enough time to make videos. my video quality became poor. I had no one else to run the store, there was no walk in traffic. People who came for classes often bought my merch. i find i like doing pottery at home more. There it was a job. When the lease was due to be resigned i was on the fence. took me weeks to decide but I'm happy I chose to come home. Classes were hard to sell. people would pay and ot show up A LOT. and they didn't even try to get their money back. That means I priced too low!!

Thank you for experimenting with your own product. To do something like that means a lot. Definitely appreciate this video and knowledge.

You may have stopped this channel but i thought i might as well ask for some advice. Im 18 and took ceramics in high school. Its been around a year and i want to get my own studio set up in my basement and create a business around it like you have done, would this be a good idea? I also want to get a kiln and rent it out when im not using it to help offset the cost of purchasing one (probably used)
