Nice thing about that suction cup design is that you can easily swap then out for better ones from your local hardware store for under $10.
hadn't thought about that, that's a good point
I'm really interested in this set. But will I have to necessarily own a rudder pedal set to use it or is there a way to map rudder controls in a good way with this set?
you could do a number of things. one would be to get their z-axis module to give the stick a twist axis (but cost little over half what some cheap rudder pedals cost so might as well just get pedals at that point) two could be binding one of the sliders on the base (would be janky but would work) three could be just using arrow keys as a rudder (little more jank as it would be full rudder input or no input so no in-between) four would be to buy a cheap set of rudder pedals Just depends on what you're willing to deal with, I personally prefer having pedals but there's options
@@DenialDan precious infos here! Using the analog stick of the throttle would be an option too?
@@rodrigolara idk if the dials would work but the small silver levers should since they can control axis
Yummmmmmm❤
Yummmmm❤
How long did it take for you to get them delivered?
Honeslt dont remember. Might've been couple days. Probably depends on where to buy them from too.
How do you keep them from moving?
For me they are butted up against the wall. If you dont have a wall to use then I'd used some velcro (hard floors) or some kind of carpet spikes (carpet floors) and stick them to the bottom with some 3M double side tape or something.
did you ever get a desk mount if so which one

@@DenialDan thank you. How have you been enjoying them/ how’s the build quality
@@DenialDanalso do you still use this hotas?
@@yamahayz228 build quality was pretty good. i did have a piece break and gave feedback to the company and they reinforced it on all of the new ones they're selling.
@@yamahayz228 as for using it, it is the only one hotas I do use. I really like it
Is it compatible with Xbox?
unfortunately I do not know the answer to this but I would assume with complexity of the hard ware I would assume probably not. Would be a lot of buttons for console games to support
Well done, informative, everything i needed to make the right decision. Thanks 👍
thanks for the info
Plastique toy
I have this one! What is the best sensitivity setting for it in MSFS 2020?
I haven't got a clue, I usually just leave the tension on the lowest setting and add a slight curve to the axis so I don't accidentally kick the rudder too much initially
On my orion 2 throttel base the RX Axis doesn't work😢 please help
what do you mean stopped working?
@@DenialDan It simply doesn't work anymore😕
@JETMATE1 first I'd check the plugs and that they are in fully. Next I'd change which usb port you're plugged into. Then I'd go into their sim app and calibrate the lever.
Aslo caveat with the screws.... loosely seat all of them, then like tuning a drum tension them evenly on...as you tighten one youll feel the other will be looser. The screw threading is super precise so very easy to cross thread
Some of the stiffest rudder pedals I have ever used.
best setup hardware you can get for jet sim :D and my choice ! MF Crosswind footpedals and wing wing hotas +stick prefeckt setting :D
imlooking forward to winwings release of their own rudder pedals
I was debating this or the TM TPR
if you have the money for the TPR then you might go with those, better quality from what i understand but if you want cheapest thing to get the job done then the logitech are decent
The Winwing Orion absolutely brilliant. I’ve had so many different kinds of HOTAS for DCS and none of them even come close. The build quality and functionality is truly genius.
I have the thrustmaster pedals, they SUCK BIG TIME, to close together, like to stick,, do not glide and centering pedals is near impossible.
I have the Winwing Hotas and am pretty happy with it so when they release their skywaler rudder pedals I will probably be buying those.
Mine broke (my pc just started saying usb device not recognised). Money down the drain for an overpriced paper weight.
There's a few different things you can try to get them to register. There's a few forums talking about different things that worked for different people. You might start there
@@DenialDan Been through all the forums and tried all the suggested fixes. Other people with same problem ended up replacing the circuit board with arduino that run mmjoy. I’m not a programmer / electrical engineer.
@@Hoekstes That's no good :( I'm planning on getting the winwing rudder pedals when they decide to release them
Thank you for making this video!
You're welcome!
how well would these work with other flight sims/games?
As long as the games settings allow you to tune your axis curve if not might be a little sensative, but pretty good. Some games might require you to change a setting the sim app to make the device read as 4 seperate devices in order to get all of the buttons to function (I think IL-2 is that way)
I've used it in War Thunder, Arma 3, DCS and IL-2
imagery ALL deleted illustrations drenched and the process they are mocking without ; I could go back to the shelf
huh?
drilling shit
yheurah
Those suction cups look cheap AF for a $400 USD hotas ... so out of place
They aren't awful at first but if you move it a bunch they wear out pretty quick. I got some mounts now though
Probably best considered just a freebie bonus, though. A HOTAS set like this really isn't ideal for tabletop use anyway, being pretty tall; best used with desk mounts that place them much more ergonomically.
It's fantastic! Perfect music and editing. Wow
Thanks!
i had thrustmaster ones and honestly i didnt like them so i am getting these since my thrustmaster one broke somehow.
I was not sure to get the orion 2 but your video brought me over the edge, i was looking up a lot of videos on the orion 2, by far yours was the most informative. heads up. great video, keep it up
thanks man! I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine
Amazing video smooth edits this made my decision of what hotas to get way easier
glad I could help!
As for the noise... I was thinking of possibly using Silicone Gel. But, then I have a house full of cats which will result in dust bunny contamination. :) The only other thing I could think of is find some really thin felt and, after testing, glue it appropriately to keep it in place between the sliding pieces. Right now I am stuck with a twist stick rubber, so I can't try this myself.
that is an idea, I appreciate the idea
Hello. Do you know if I can use the Logitech rudder pedals with the Hub of Honeycomb in the Xbox Series S?
I have no personal experience so would be hard for me to say but as far as I am aware there isnt any support for consoles but I'd look into it before making a purchase. From my brief search the rudder axis might work but the toe brakes might not.
Thanks, but you didn't explain what the included velcro strips were for/how to use.
if it came with Velcro strips i imagine they're to place on the bottom of the pedals and the floor to prevent slipping? I don't remember having any?
Do they connect to Xbox
Not by themselves based on what I've read. I think you have to use it though their joystick in order for it to work with console. I don't have a console so I couldn't confirm for you but hopefully that's something for you to base your next research steps. Thanks!
You did not pay 399.00
At the time of making the video the price was $399 plus the shipping. I think it has sense changed because that was nearly a year ago
The max version is $500
"These are not my favorite but I have never used any others"...🤔
When assembling the throttle, do not screw in the first screw completely, do it about half way then do the second screw. When both are in about half way you can start tightening both screws. This will prevent cross threading the screws.
You're talking about leaving a big of play to help with alignment, not cross threading. Very good idea. When starting a screw, turn it backwards with slight pressure until you feel/hear a slight click. You have then found the thread lead, and lined up the screw thread with the threaded hole, and you won't cross thread. Old machinist's trick. And yeah, I'm an old machinist! lol
Do they work with windows 11? As they said they are compatible with windows 7,8 and 10
I don't have any personal experience as I have stayed on windows 10 however a quick reddit search and people have NOT had any issues with the rudder pedals working with windows 11
@@DenialDan Thanks
Have you had any problems with it so far?
I had a plastic piece break (only an issue with the fingerlift) but they have added a support to the weak area. If you google "winwing lever break" should be the first image is what broke. Just a weak spot but again I gave them feed back and they added support to the weak spot.other than that no the HOTAS has been great
@@DenialDan Thanks for your response! I'm thinking between Virpil and WinWing right now. Really hope Virpil makes some full hydraulic motion, force feedback and heated grips! This would be awesome, aswell with real life replicas.
@harksgaming7455 yeah that'd be pretty cool! I was bouncing back and fourth I just settled on price. I know some prices changed around but they just released the f15 throttle so might be able to get the bundle cheapest now
Please raise audio
Hi! Thanks for the review! What do you think now after 10 months of buy?
10 months later I still enjoy the hotas. I would be careful about the finger lift though. I bought one and had been using it but the black plastic piece that attaches to the metal grip broke on me. I informed winwing of the issue as it was a common one and they have added some support to that area. Hotas still running strong and I'm 100% happy with my purchase and will like continue to support the company by buying their product in the future
@@DenialDan Thanks for the info! So you replaced the fingerlift right?
@TheProtector737 not the fingerlift but rather the piece the fingerlift mounts to. The new one had the improvement on it. I did fill in the spaces with epoxy on my one that didn't break just so I didn't have to deal with it again. I would imagine relatively new hotas would come with the fixed version. If you want pictures join my discord channel and I can send you the pictures
@@TheProtector737 discord.gg/7J4vdAw6
@@DenialDan Thanks. I'll do that.
Can i use these with the xbox series x?
Based on what I know at the moment is I don't think they are. Doesn't list compatibility on their website so I would doubt they are. Thrustmaster has the win on that one I beleive. I'd double check that though before purchasing
@@DenialDan thanks!
Short and to the point for normal people, thank you!
you're welcome! I personally hate when people ramble on and on about things that aren't related
$235 right meow! thanks for the review.
Hello. In the same price range... What should I buy: Virpil, VBK or Winwing?
I guess it depends. If you're wanting a HOTAS VKB doesn't offer a actual HOTAS throttle just some regular levers so it it would be between a Virpil and WinWing. Virpil is gonna run $600 USD for both stick and throttle (not sure if shipping is included in that) vs WinWing being $400 for an Orion 2 ($470 with shipping all said and done). So it really just depends on hw to want your buttons and levers to be laid out. I personally went with the winwing because it was the cheaper of the 2 and had more buttons and dials and such but like I said just depends on how you want your ergonomics
How long did it take deliver? I just bought mine and I was wondering how long it would take to get here sense it doesn’t say.
About a week. Came in 4 seperate packages. First came on day 4 and the other three came around day 7. Will require signature upon delivery so if they miss you you can always swing by the fed ex facility to pick it up which is what I did
I just got a set of these. IMHO, save your money and get something else. I will be selling them and saving for a set of Virpil pedals. These are awful. I had a set of pedals that I got with my old G940 FFB system. They were old and wearing out but they still worked and they were comfortable. Only thing was, since they had a serial type connector, I had to have the G940 joystick plugged in to be able to use the rudder pedals. So I got the Pro Flight pedals to eliminate this issue. Well, in a word, I hate them. They feel weird, the brake pedal part is at a weird angle and they are so uncomfortable for my feet. I have large feet (size 15) and even at their longest, the pedals are way too small and they are so narrow my feet are constantly trying to fall off. Never had that problem with the G940 pedals. On top of the comfort issue, they just fell weird. They aren't smooth and if you turn the tension all the way down, they're still too stiff. As someone who spent most of the last four decades working on airplanes both military and civilian, I can assure you they don't feel realistic at all. I personally am VERY disappointed in these. Fortunately I got them as an open box so I didn't pay full price for them. I am learning the hard way that when it comes to PC controllers, you get what you pay for.
Yeah like I said not my favorite but gets the job done. I contemplated between these and the thrustmaster ones because they're around the same price point but I'd like to get a premium set. Wondering if winwing will make a set to go with my hotas. Guess we will see
@@DenialDan Yeah that would be nice since I just got an Orion 2 F-16EX Stick and FA-18 throttle. Very impressed with the Winwing stuff so far. I'd love to add some new pedals to the mix.
@Chris Trommler right on! We will have to wait and see
@@DenialDan Winwing announced a set of pedals for "this summer".
I have to agree, they are way too noisey and take away from the overall immersion. The tension dial doesn't do anything either, I bet it's not even hooked up to anything inside.
It's the plastic cover sleeves that cover the channels that the rudder pedals run through and yes they aren't attached they just sitting top
turn your volume up or wear headphones 😎
@digitalsiler I wear headphones and it's still noisy af buy I've just ignored it
I had my old saitek rudder pedals and the tension was way better so I’m not sure why they cheapened out 😢
@@DenialDan damn... mine aren't that loud
cool video ty! i am looking to add this pedals to my Star Citizen set up.
right on, i have the logitech rudder pedals although they're a bit noisy
sparrow launch at 24 miles is quite far, 15 to 12 miles is the optimal range, and thats at high alt, low alt its gonna be more like 8 to 6. good video tho! part at the start was hilarious!
Thanks! Early launch to set the radar warning off on them to maybe make them feel pressured. Experimenting but I appreciate the advice. Optimal numbers are always appreciated
Can anyone tell me the overall dimensions and mounting hole dimensions on the Winwing Orion2 Throttle Base and Orion2 Joystick Base?
Nice review - I ordered mine and missed the fact that it doesn't have a z-axis, and I do not want rudder pedals - so it's just sitting there collecting dust, if anyone has an idea os a workaround other than the rudder path please leave comments. I don't mind putting a warthug grip on the winwing base if possible to get my z-axis.
They sell a z axis module, it's a little pricey but still cheaper than rudder pedals
@@DenialDan No they don't...if you know a link please send it, its not on their site, its out of stuck for more than 2 years now
@Chaos Nature oh there's only one on there site. I wasn't aware the item was out of stock. I'm sorry
