Downhill with DeeO
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 8 ก.ย. 2023
The name is a bit facetious, I don't even have a downhill bike. But chances are I won't be posting much stuff of pedaling and the alliteration of Downhill with DeeO sounded good. I live in Colorado Springs and have recently gotten more and more into mountain biking. Here I'll be posting vlogs and raw runs of trails around the area. Hopefully to show other riders some fun local trails and also just a fun way to store videos of my adventures.
Thanks for checking 'em out and I hope you enjoy.

⚠️ Captain Morgans and Remodeled Flyover Drop ⚠️
Alex and I went up and hit Captain Jacks down to Captain Morgans. It was my second time ever on Morgan's and my first time since they built (and rebuilt) the flyover/drop!
The flyover was probably the easiest part of the trail, but it's so high and steep it's super scary. I should have shown the angle of the downramp for reference! But the rest of Morgan's is steep and loose and pretty rowdy too. I need to clean it up and hit that one root drop thingy and we'll be able to send it nicely!

I crashed on Trestle Downhill | Trestle Bike Park
มุมมอง 7305 หลายเดือนก่อน
Trestle DH had been closed all day due to a race series using the run. On my final lift of the day I saw it was open and decided to get a run on it. Hadn't seen the trail in a year so I was being pretty cautious, then just veered right after a small little drop and caught my bar right into a stump and down I went. Trestle DH is a blast. So much room for improvement and bettering your riding. It...
Is this a Double Black? | Section 16
มุมมอง 5375 หลายเดือนก่อน
After a great afternoon rainstorm, I decided to go up and try out Section 16. I've never rode it before and I've heard it was dumbed down and nowhere near as gnarly as it once was. Trailforks has it voted as a black difficulty, which I agree with more than double. Most of the ride was super easy and chill, with a pretty gnarly rocky switchback area sort of in the middle. The ride up Palmer Trai...
Mountain Biking North Cheyenne Canyon | St Mary Falls, Daniel's Pass, Bruin

Riding along with me as we check out the less-popular side of the Canyon as you continue around Gold Camp up and over the collapsed tunnel (Tunnel 3). We go part way up St. Mary Falls for a really fun downhill, then back to Daniel's Pass Trail, then Bruin down. The day ends with a flat tire, but it was still a great ride overall. Enjoy! Rimwood Ridge | Austin Bluffs Open Space

This was my second time on Rimwood Ridge, a Black rated trail in Austin Bluff's Open Space in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The ride up to it sucks as it's just riding sidewalks, but the trail down is super fun. You can make it pretty rowdy with drops and jumps, but everything is rollable albeit steep!
Follow Cam with Todd at Ute Valley!

Alex, Todd and myself went out for a ride at Ute Valley Park before the snow came in. I ran my insta360 on top of my helmet which stunk for footage in front of me, but was cool to capture Todd behind me. Todd ran his GoPro on his Chesty and got some rad footage of me in front of him! Trails shown; Rattle Rocks Juniper Trail AKA Almond Crusted Steak Hummingbird Trail (Nachos)

The weather and my schedule finally timed up, this was my first ride of 2024! I went to Ute with Hugo and Shelby from @GnarlyBsBikes / Epic Adventures Bike Co and had an awesome ride and put down a pretty good time on Nachos! Currently 28th out of 195 riders this year.
Rattle Rocks | Black Downhill Bike Only Trail at Ute Valley

Rattle Rocks is a short off-shoot from Almond Butter above the Bike Dojo at Ute Valley Park. It's short at only 0.1 miles but has 91 feet of descent and can be pretty tricky your first few runs on it!
New Send at Ute Valley
มุมมอง 228ปีที่แล้ว
I was sizing this up last time I was at Ute thinking how you could jump the rocks but wanted to have someone with me when I went for it. It went nice and smoothly and was a cool send to have done, but it won't be my main line when riding the trail just since it is higher risk than rolling the rocks. Funny to see the progression from July of 2022 to November of 2023. Huge thank you to Alex/Oni f...

Three of my favorite trails to bomb at Ute Valley Park. Nachos, Almond Butter and Juniper Trail. Juniper's Strava segment is called "Almond Crusted Steak." No PRs on this run. Still afraid of the second nachos drop after wrecking on it. Just 1-3 seconds off PRs on all these trails. And of course the Strava line on Almond Butter is a rip-off! Hitting Black Sheep before they recently fixed it up and riding Angry Squirrel for the first time. Pulpit is a sort of strange riding area, I need to spend more time there and find some solid routes.

I have that bell. I love when it's locked out but still rings on a good hit. 10 points!
Video definitely doesn't do it justice. It's much scarier then your video makes it look! Well done! I don’t think I would ever try it. I love all the other trails up there but Captain Morgan's is beyond my level. I hope to see someone do the flyover while I'm on the Ladders trail one of these days.
Was Alex ahead of you ? Woops , answered farther in ! 😉
Is that sound your rear tire locked up almost all the way down?
Not all the way but at some parts. A lot of it is just the gravel sliding underneath my tires even if I’m rolling. It’s all dry and loose and just slides around!
Strava has captain morgans shown at a grade of -30.3% 😳
Nice, if it wasn't for that sneaky stump that would've been a clean run.
Thank you! Just how it goes, gotta keep yourself in check with a crash haha
A lot of people crash at trestle
True! Pushes riders a lot harder than most local trails.
Did someone smell something Ohh! “ Sarcasm” 😂😂😂😂
I rode it about a month ago. It is steep, loose a bit bit janky in spots, but I question if it's Double Black too.
I just rode captain morgans for my second time ever… feel like Morgan’s is SO much harder than section 16 for both being double black!
Hope you kept riding 😅
I rode the rest of the trail down! It was getting towards the end of my day so was my last run anyway. So I stopped after that trip down, but had been planning to stop before the crash lol
Thumb up for the video , not the crash ! 😉
Haha I’ll take that, thank you!
Yep that definitely look sucks, and going to leave a bruise 😅
Thanks for posting this video. Just what I was looking to see for this trail. Great vid!
Awesome! Glad the video was helpful. Have fun when you go send it!
SICK!!!
Such a fun trail! Possibly my favorite of Trestle 😏
The direction lock on the Insta360 software was acting up so the camera drifts and spins a little randomly. I tried really hard to smooth it out but it still isn't great. Hope you still enjoy!
This is a great vid, you're basically showing all the smooth lines on TDH, a lot of the vids it's just on a DH bike and they're just monster trucking the whole thing.
I greatly appreciate that! That's definitely outside my wheelhouse. Taking my time and choosing safe lines are the only way I can make it down without going OTB haha
The flowers look like Columbines , state flower of Colorado if I’m not mistaken .
You're right! I checked later and sure enough. Pretty cool!
Wow not many cars at the Jack's lot. I remember when it was gravel and just 30 spots. I really dislike the bigger parking lot, it makes the trails more crowded.
I can definitely understand that. Luckily there are so many trails I think people disperse out pretty well. You still have to be mindful of course, but I've never been out there and felt like it was hiker after hiker after hiker. Much worse at Palmer Park or Ute in that aspect!
@@DownhillwithDeeO Well there weren't many hikers hiking up Jacks in 2013, now they love to hike it. Biking on Gold Camp is tough too, unless it's a weekday.
Nice to see my hometown trails with someone on a real mountain bike instead of someone riding their e bike illegally in the canyon. I ride hardtails, but curious about you bike. How much travel does it have front and rear, and do you think it climbs well. You obviously know that we have a lot of climbing in the springs. I like Sweetwater a lot. I broke my collarbone on that first rock garden on Daniel's a couple years ago in January, had to hike my way out in the snow and ice pushing my bike. The icy creek crossing was super sketchy on foot with one arm.
Yessir no motor for me! This bike is 170/170 with a 29 front wheel and 27.5 rear. It climbs well enough, and having the bigger travel and higher bottom bracket I clip and pedal strike less on this bike (YT Capra) vs my trail bike (Marin Rift Zone). The idea when buying this bike was the YT would be for the Canyon (I usually shuttle with a friend) and park days like Trestle. If I'm looking to really grind out climbs or ride somewhere more pedal heavy like Ute and Palmer Park, I'll ride the Marin which is a 29er and 140/125 travel. Sheesh that's horrible, glad you made it out safely. Always a concern riding alone but hasn't been enough of a concern to stop me so far!
@@DownhillwithDeeO I love to ride with a friend or 2, but solo is nice too, lets you free your mind.
Love the trail, but I've never understood the double black rating on that trail. Nice riding.
I think so many of the trail ratings are location dependent. I've rode double blacks that I could see as blues, and blacks that I felt like were unridable to my skill. It's so hard to have a consistent rating. But hey at least I can say I've done some double blacks lol. Thank you!
I swear stuff only happens when you forget something. I like the trails on that side of the canyon and honestly, all they need is a few more features sprinkled in to spice them up a little (saying that and then probably would chicken out hitting the new additions).
Always when you forget something, how it goes! I can see that for sure, a few extra jumps scattered in but I really love that side of the Canyon. We need to do Mary Falls again, that one is sneaky good and riding along the creek in unmatched.
@@DownhillwithDeeO let's do it!
Looks like a solid ride!
I truly think Daniel's Pass > Bruin is a completely underrated ride. Maybe I'm just spoiled, but currently enjoying it more than Jacks!
The split screen is cool! Thanks for showing me some new lines on Rattle Rocks - good times!
Nice good work avoiding that dumb shit 🤦♂️
Smooth, D!
Thank you! It worked out really well.
Nice! I was just there yesterday sizing up that very spot. Think I'll go back to session it.
Heck yeah dude, love that. Send it and be safe!
Made it look easy! Not gonna lie, it had me a little nervous too.
As George Michael once said, gotta have faith!
@@DownhillwithDeeO wow...

Sick line! Have fun in Tampa!
Thanks, man! Definitely will do!
Dude. I'm so jealous. I wish we had trails like this in Idaho. That looks awesome.
I’m beginning to realize and appreciate how great I have it here and really embrace the trails!
Have you ever ridden an mtb ebike?
Just in a parking lot for a few feet, never on a trail! Have nothing against it but just never had the opportunity.
You never lose momentum on an ebike it's like riding a super light dirt bike. Tons of fun
Great job! That's a big one
Thanks, dude! It's definitely a commitment. Really makes you respect the redbull dudes lol
love the locals there and watch your mx vids keep it up
Thanks for watching these videos, too! Trestle is a rad place. Some people seem to bag on it. I've never been to any other downhill parks but I for one love it.
If Remy metallier did a scrub over that jump and those two people were there… game over 😅
Not sure who that is! But regardless not a great place to be having a little mid-trail chat lol
weeeeeeeeeeeeee
Daniel is the best cheerleader, aka hype man!
Happy to cheer for you!
Making it look easy! Good work
Easy until one of those rocks bites your rear tire and puts a huge dent in it... haha. Thanks, dude!
Yeah buddy! So sick.
Thanks for pushing to finally get me out there! Excited to rip a bunch next year with you.
