    Awesome video! One question, I am a .Net Developer but I worked in a Machine Industry for a long time. Should I add previous experiences other than software developing?

      You definitely can, but make sure each experience you add can tie directly to a skill that you bring to a software job (eg organization skills, management experience, etc)

      Thanks for the feedback! It’s possible that every hiring manager will look at things differently, so other opinions are important! My critiques come from the hundreds of resumes I’ve read and dozens of junior engineers I’ve hired personally!

    Typos are a red flag to me (beyond the obvious of you make mistakes). It tells me you are probably using a template because you haven't even spent enough time working on the site to notice a gigantic typo. But that guy was just starting out so its all good.

      Great question! I would say start applying, but take note of the job requirements to compare your skills against. From my experience once you can take a blank file and turn it into a product, you are ready!

    Great video ! I found the book to be totally unrealistic lol especially in higher education where I work. You highlighted the worst possible outcome of following this and provided alternatives . 👍🏾

    Nice! I remember someone saying that these skill bars are fine because they tell you what the person feels strong in. I'm still not a fan of them though. Maybe a better way to do it would be to list your skills and somehow highlight the ones you feel strong in. Not sure

      Exactly. Dividing your skills between your ‘specialties’ and other skills is totally fine! But keep in mind the goal. It’s unlikely someone will hire you because of something on your ‘I’ve heard about this’ list :)

    I'm on board with some engineers that clones can be a good thing. IMHO, if you can clone a fortune 500 website, you are literally showcasing, you can develop a fortune 500 website. You would be tasked to develop a design if hired as a developers as you'd have a designer(s) to do so. So if you can break down all the intricacies and complexities and technologies of a complex fortune 500 website, and successfully build a responsive duplicated I think that's pretty damn valuable. Just an opinion! 🤗*Edit* you wouldn't* be tasked..

      Thank you for the insight! Love this opinion. Sounds like there is definitely a place for it. Personally I've seen a few people reuse too much, for example if you can inspect the page and see exactly where the divs are, what JS they are using to make certain effects, it can be as much 'learning' as a tutorial (which isn't a ton from what I've seen) but you're right that there can definitely be a place for it *if done correctly* :)

    I am developing my personal portfolio website. Can you help me choosing a domain name? Should I choose my full name or just my first name or something else like a username as the domain name? I am ao confused

      Good question, using your name is usually the easiest way, but you can always use your name and host it on Netlify or Heroku! Then you don't have to pay for a domain name. I wouldn't say the domain name is incredibly important, unless you are planning on SEO and Search

    Great video! Such good advice for developers. Love the deep work day and using pomodoro. And so true about working from anywhere other than a desk... whenever I think it's a good idea to work from the sofa I quickly regret it 😂

    I heard a great podcast with Bre Welch who is a headshot photographer in Utah-she said more people choose a business/services based on a headshot than anything else. Having just seen someone choose a dentist based solely on the headshot I’m inclined to agree. Your suggestions were spot-on on that! Great information!

    I def think you should include HTML5 as I hate when people do Div this and Div that, Div Div Div.... HTML is an organizer so orgianize! CSS3 is harder then REACT and JS!
