I show you how to lower your brake pedal to make it easier to switch your foot between the gas and brake pedal. I think this is safer and more comfortable because you don't have to lift your entire leg as far to suddenly hit the brakes.
This is for 67-72 Chevy and GMC trucks, but I'm sure the principle and technique applies to several other vehicles.
I also show how to improvise a very simple brake pedal arm "stop" device which makes your pedal come to rest as it should, and also allows you some fine-tuning of the location of the resting point of the brake pedal arm.
For the stop mechanism you'll need:
1 - 2" x 5/16-18 bolt with threads the entire length
2 - 5/16-18 nuts to use as jam nuts on either side of the panel nut
1 - 5/16-18 "Panel Nut" I got mine at Ace Hardware in the specialty fastener section. It easily clips into your existing slot where the brake bumper used to be.
1 - bolt cover that fits snugly on the end of the 5/16 bolt.
1 - 5/16 washer
Watch the video to see exactly how you will need to assemble the parts. It's pretty self-explanatory, except make sure you install the panel nut on the pedal-side of your bracket. This ensures that the constant pressure of the brake pedal will keep it in place. Installing it on the other side will still work but it's better engineering to do it the way I recommend.
Make sure to see how to adjust your brake light switch so your lights come on at the appropriate time. This is important for safety (obviously) but it's also important if your trailer brake controller uses the signal from the brake light switch. Using a electrical tester makes this task SO much easier especially if you're working alone. Otherwise how do you know if and when your brake lights are coming on?
