This is a good iPod! I got it soon after the sixth generation was discontinued. The buttons broke on that one and I never got it fixed. Since then, it is lasted for over 10 years. At least the only issue I had was a disc error, which I guess fixed itself.

Came to the party late, but did you cut out the ports on the original case and put in your own? I want to do a similar build so I'm curious how you got the new ports in there.

You should've kept the DVD drive given there is an actual slit made for it.

Why did you remove the original DVD drive?

At 49, I feel extremely ancient hearing that the G4 Cube is 20 years old. Seems like it was only yesterday that everyone was arguing about the acrylic case cracks. At the time, someone in our office had a Cube with the 22inch Cinema Display. Nothing Apple makes today is anywhere near the level of sexy compared to the G4 Cube. Looking at, and playing with that machine elicited an immediate “wow, everything else kinda sucks now” reaction. This and the lamp iMac’s were the most impressive examples of Apple’s Jobs’ian era industrial design. Today they just keep rehashing the same aluminum lump design language.

The iPod Nano 5 is the best nano of all! Games and a camera! It’s amazing! And I prefer wired ear buds anyway.

Taking this from other more general videos on Astrophotography - Theres apparantly a rule of: 500/focal length=max. exposure in seconds 500 for Fullframe ~300 for APS-C Thats because the earth rotates too much so correlating to the zoomfactor of the focal length you have a limited amount of time while retaining sharpness on the stars.

While it's awesome, I wouldn't say the cube is 'timeless'. The thing screams early 00's to me.

try putting a mac studio in it now. m2 ultra on that thing would go crazy

So the actual build video never came, and the most interesting questions remain open: How did you manage to get the old display connected? Does the capacitve power button still work?

You could probably have integrated the DVI to ADC adapter in the case and maintained the ADC port to use the original monitor with one cable.

I love this device of its form factor, If it had spotify offline I'd be sold and ability to connect to speakers and systems through airplay, then i could listen to music literally anywhere without notifs still! Spotify is a big loss for me
