Hi, I'm Evelyn! Welcome to my little corner of the internet, where I share weekly videos on product management, early career learnings, vlogs, and lots of new food experiences! :) I'm 23, currently based out of San Francisco working as a product manager at a large tech company. You can usually find me snacking away watching some TH-cam while trying to travel the world (though currently limited to just the US).

getting promoted to senior, juggling hobbies & digital nomading - what I learned turning 25
well the past year has been...chaotic to say the least. we're long overdue for some catching up - here are 4 things I've learned in the past year, that have truly changed the way I go about my day-to-day.

who am I?
I'm a 25 (!!) year old product manager working in tech, based out of SF. I grew up in Orange County and recently graduated across the Bay over at uc berkeley (go bEARS!) and started this channel to share more about the product management opportunity for new grads. Over time, this channel has evolved into a place for me to "share" a look into my life holistically - so you can expect tons of vlogs, trader joe's food reviews, travel content, etc.

a product manager's meetings explained | office vlog 👩🏻💻

I often get asked - what on earth do I *ACTUALLY* do all day as a product manager?! While every day is truly so different (in terms of the meetings I'm in and my own work), here's a detailed random day in my life as a Product Manager II at a "big tech" company. It doesn't capture every little detail (especially what I do during the meetings where I'm just listening in), and unfortunately I coul...

This is so useful, Evelyn! Thank you so much!!!
i want you for bfast
Please dont release ur location. Your a beautiful asian woman and I might be jaded as I've seen it over an over again in media and reality... Your safety should be your main priority not being a negative nancy but reality is reality and their are lots of videos of bad shiz happenin... so have backup cause no matter what the movies portray life is dangerous. and if ur in the movie industry chill out on the flashbacks chill out on the political messaging... people want to watch a story. not see the same shit over an over.... Gah leez gender race flashback flashback swap swap... shits old and stale and is leading people to games instead of media.. I've watched it all from the late 70s and the 2015s on is just race or gender swaping wiht no new content and that shit is not worth paying for.... but anyway ur what from cali so long live the message even if no one wants to hear it .... k bye...
Hello, my name is Subin Park, and I am currently studying in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Seoul in South Korea. I watched a video you posted two years ago related to computer science, and it inspired me to seek your advice regarding my career path. I’ve been given a great opportunity to visit San Francisco through a program organized by my school from January 10 to January 15. If you are available during this period, I would be incredibly grateful to have an interview with you to gain valuable insights and advice. A virtual interview would also be perfectly fine. Please let me know if this could be possible. Thank you so much!🥰
Are all the girls as pretty as you at Berkeley 👀
Is the food free here?
Doing my first round in a couple weeks. This is helpful! Thanks!
Seriously? Do you actually work?😢
I wish I had a curve LOL 😂 UT just takes the raw grade.
does this apply to all of the UTs?
Thanks for the work. Thanks for Financial Transparancy. Thing Global... Act local. It is important.
Those jobs are in HCOL locations, where rent is $5,000 minimum and product manager right out of college?
rambling is ABSOLUTELY okay !!!
🤭🤭
I have got 3 D’s and 1 C in my cs classes I’m retaking it starting next semester. I did so well on my homework (A’s) but awful on exams. Im just so scared, my advisor doesn’t even believe I can make it sophomore year😭
proud of you for going back! it’s that determination that will get you through 🫶🏼 you got this, best of luck!!
Have you taken your monitor in a plane?
I actually have!! in a backpack as a personal carry on! can’t remember the exact dimensions but it was one that was a very tight fit width-wise into a backpack, and stuck out the top but no one noticed
I'm on my first year and you know what the minor subs are f*cking me up than my major subs 🙂 Sorry I just want to vent out my frustrations.
Hi Evelyn! So happy to see that you are doing well and that you are excited about life’s happenings! Take care ☺️ ✨✨✨
so kind thank you 🥹 you too 💕
Great video. Do you have a US job but you work wherever you want?
I am currently in high school and I am looking to get into CS engineering..You've really done a great job explaining.. But i am not sure if I should take it coz I am no prodigy in math and dont have a great level of abstract reasoning(found out doing tests online with patterns and stuff..hehe) Hence i am not sure if I should get into this especially since i didn't take CS in high school..would you recommend taking CS considering future options as well?
Great video. Thank you ❤
thank you for the kind comment ❤
Is product manager required coding 😅
It's all fine until you're literally hanging on by a thread of being kicked out of school for falling below a certain gpa.
How to get internship
This video helped me! I plan on majoring in CS in the fall. I dont appear to be fascinated in it according to my parents. I am just hesitant to mess up my future because I never took a computer class in high school.
can't hurt to try a course! I never saw myself studying CS!
@@evelynshares i recently started a course by harvard! you’re videos really motivated me!
Respected, I really love how you explained each years. I plan to opt CS degree next year, but im still uncertain considering AI and getting my jobs replaced. As an Asian, its either be a doctor or an engineer so I went with CS but i was still feeling uneasy. Thank you for this, it has reassured me and I hope im making my right decision by taking a CS degree
glad it could help, you got this!!
@@evelynshares thank you!!
I have a 4.0 and can't get an internship, I think I might be cooked lmao
You are there to only eat?😂😂😂😂
Do you need any formal education to be a product manager?
i am i n year on and this is the moment i realised project managememnt is what i want to do its what im good at.. watching this video was exactly what i needed to see cause i just failed a quiz the other day and cried so bad.. I wanted to give up
sorry to hear about the quiz 😢 keep it up though, don't let it get you down!
Very stressing day😮
I was making less than you in all of your internships as a resident physician! Tech just looks like it so much better. You younger folks are just lucky and living a good life.
Hello! You had me at cute dog and 6:19 Too Good to Go! (I'm a regular on that app and I wanna know what you picked up!!!). I wish I had some that had THAT fabulous an apartment in SF and dog to house sit! I would do it in a heart beat!!! 😍😍😍🐕🦮🐕🦺🐶 7:20 - The head tilt!!! 😍😍🥰
love it!! cute dogs and too good to go are my personality traits 🤭
Hey did you had to use german?
hey evelyn im actually in the uk.. and i want to choose computer science for my GCSEs, with all the people telling me that its really hard, tbh i want to be a software engineer and idk what to dooooooo
hey!! if you want to choose it, give it your best shot! there's always time later to change your mind!
Yes my name is Lexi. I have been having a really hard time for over 2 years now I started getting hacked over 2 years ago I've gone through every phone company there is who when I started thinking about these certificates and or legal papers or whatever they are called every phone company has told me there's no such thing I don't know what you're talking about when I find it every time I buy a phone I am disabled physically and mentally and I will probably jump in front of a truck and don't get off my phone. She also took my stimulus check I have I've had I had a very bad ⁰ so I tried to do what I could with the IRS but they believe her and not me so therefore to make this kind of short I am disabled I cannot do it Google or Chrome allows her to connect to my device and take over a Google part which is the part that controls my phone so I have the time I don't get my phone calls I have been threatened from one phone to another that I've had on at the same time and I have those still. I am watching you because I have nowhere else to go the please tell me that they don't they're not trained So if somebody will call at 608-636-4399. So while I'm crying I'm more or less beggi g for help plz
Gets Fs in classes, still gets a internship. cs is such a joke
It’s so refreshing to hear that there are other jobs out there in the computer science world other than a software engineer
Thats y they get laid off
I know the feeling.😢
Her: I work at Microsoft Also her: I use a Mac
Microsoft gives you a work computer but personally she’s on Mac. I know Microsoft gives you work laptop by Microsoft. She has a Mac and Microsoft laptop.
I’m a CS major and I just finished my first semester of freshman year. It was very intense and I know it’ll only get harder. This makes me feel better, knowing that others are struggling too but are still getting good grades and still ending up with a job they like while using their knowledge from CS. Thank you for this video!! ❤
congrats on finishing the first semester!! you got this you got this you got this 🤩 hope you get to enjoy a little break now!
@@evelynshares Thank you! And I wish you the best with all that you’re doing!!
it may get harder academically but as the years go on, you start adapting to everything. studying, how the exams’ questions are like, how to search for extra materials, which personally i consider it getting easier
Your apartment looks so expensive! Love it
I wish it was mine! Just housesitting, agreed it’s gorgeous though!
Ive had 2 unpaid internships😢 and one that was $18 an hour
Struggling in discrete math and theory of computation 😢
rootin for you from afar!! 💫
Love the ethernet cable 😂😂 Priorities!
good internet is truly the most important requirement 😌
Thank you! These CS classes and all the math I have to take as requirements are tough and just cause you do bad in some doesn’t mean your not cut out for the degree.
tough means it’s challenging which means we’re learning! you got this 😤
@@garion7433 I think if you are not good at math, you will flunk out of the CS major. I did flunk out of CS back in college. My child is the opposite me. He scored 1440 SAT at age 11 with a 780/800 SAT math and 35/36 ACT Math and STEM at age 11. He was gifted by Duke TIPs/Johns Hopkins CTY gifted programs. At a very young age, he was into math and science (physic was his favorite). Myself, I failed miserably, bad fundamentals, tried memorization instead of understanding it. My child didn’t really do much homework like I did but he always understood those problems and theories. In his gifted high school, he took 18 college courses, mostly in math and CS. He took Calculus 1,2,3, differential equations, discrete math, math for CS, math for game theory and many CS classes with all A+. Now, he is studying EECS with full scholarship at UC Berkeley. He is a problem solver with strong math and science skills. Moral of the story, YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE MATH/CS MATERIALS. I think it helps that your brain is wired to math/science. If you gets F in those classes or at the bottom, it doesn’t look right.
Thin im going to get a D in my CS302 class, really sad but i messed up taking algorithms and the hardest class my school offers in CS at the same time. will not do that again
wow i really needed this. i'm currently a freshman majoring in IT, but i have to take an introduction to c class along with cs and engineering majors and i am struggling with grades and trying to keep up since i am not the best programmer. the support i had in the beginning of the semester i don't have anymore since they don't go to class or message me unfortunately. the only person i still talk to is super smart and gets A's on every assignment, so it's difficult to try and not compare my journey to theirs. i like your mindset that bad grades are ok as long as you keep trying and learning, and i'll definitely keep that in mind as i move through college. great video :)
I completely feel you on the comparisons, definitely incredibly hard to avoid! regardless, rooting for you, hang in there!
In college, grades are on a curve. Tests are made intentionally hard so they can determine who the top students are.
template?
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! you're doing so great :)(
thank you!! trying my best 🫶🏼
