First : wow, what a great video, great writing, pacing and editting, I even teared up a bit because it felt so true, thank you. I stumbled on your bouldering videos and discovered the rest of the channel, and I love it. I wanted to share my personnal stories and a little addition to the video for the people reading me. After a burn out and covid, I had a rough time, I lost contact with many friends, start seeing less and less people ... and I decided to take action. I stepped in thoses spaces. Tabletop and board games, fighting games, bouldering, joining a mmo raid group. And I was shy, it was difficult at first to talk, but as weeks goes by, I start getting comfier. It felt great, I met people, I socialized. It's been 1.5 years since I've decided to step out of my loneliness and *tried* something else. Today, I laugh a bit that I have too much on my planning, and I decided to let go of some of those occupation. Not because of the activities, nor the people, but just because of time. I would like to add the following, depending on where you live, those third place might not have a "constant permanent space", like shops. Many small non profits orgs borrow spaces to organize their own events, so don't feel discourage if by walking in your city you feel like nothing happening. Look online, go on discords or social networks, check event posters or flyers, you could find your next third place like this ! As told in the video, those non profit org are organized on the spare time of those people, if you feel you can give a hand, ask the staff, they will be happy to have someone new, and maybe you'll join the organization yourself if you like it. Thank you again for the video, I hope this channel will grow !

Agreed! the anxiety of "what if im not an artist" will always be there but thats not what is important. its all about the stories they convey and the ideas it inspires

Fantastic depiction of everything great about mapping - stories, unexplored lands, the fact that it's a form of art but you need not be an artist and the advice to just jump in and do it to get past the anxiety of putting ink to paper. Such a great view of the hobby told in a relaxed and natural way. Thank you for filming this Jared and thanks to Rodney for sharing one of the most rewarding hobbies there is.

i enjoyed watching this. its so calming. i learned in college during my art history class that some paintings were sold as prints. like 1700's and earlier paintings. the "great wave" painting is part of a 20 or so set of print block designs.

but my ass hurt and I'll find a trolly so I can buy 2 weeks of grocery with my trek road bike.

This caught my eye because I recognized EB. I enjoy watching her and others speed puzzling, but I prefer casual puzzling. For me it is more like therapy, it takes my mind off of my troubles
