11,000 Cold Calls as a Freight Broker | 5 Sales Tips Learned
Cold calls are one of the primary ways that freight brokers and freight agents sell to try to gain new business with shippers.
Our teammate, Drew Brendli, was a freight broker before he joined our team at Salesdash.
He made 11,000 cold calls. There's a lot of lessons you learn along the way from making 11,000 cold calls, and you get a lot better at your craft when you do.

Also I wonder if they even read our emails or do they just trash them? It's just like when I receive Google search calls all during the day. I just talk to them for 40 seconds. Sometimes I just hang-up on the google ad sales reps, I don't have the time. Have you ever received a call back or an email from your first email?
There is probably a combination of both. The subject line, first line, content of the email, images, length of the email, etc. all go a long way in regards to how it's received. I do think it is safe to say that the majority will be trashed, but some can land. Timing is the big unknown but that's why the follow-ups matter. - Josh

Hi cutie. My main problem is. When I send out my emails, I don't know what to use for the Subject line. I hope he answers if not. I'm going to Goggle it. Shippers are telling me over and over again their clients are finding their own carriers. I hired an assistant and she makes and sends emails for me, however, she's getting really frustrated. Ughhhhh
Try using 1-3 words centered around their products/commodities, lanes, locations they have, or potential problems. Test and try a bunch of things. If the shippers' clients are using their own carriers, see if they have some of their clients on their website and then call and email them. Most people are emailing these days, so calls can be a separator.
How do you get in contact with the shippers? I’m a dispatcher and I need freight.
Cold call, cold email, or visit them onsite.

You would need to import leads from your lead generation platform which can take 5-10 mins to import hundreds/thousands of leads. Happy to help you with it as well Chris.

Yes and no. Customer Success Managers do use CRMs to understand the history of the customer relationship. CRMs help for sales + customer success post-sale.
