Idk why you kept building roads when your longest road was well secure. Should have kept those cards to trade for resources you needed.

Love the vids. You at times get to focus on a single idea or player. 17:15 you had 3 wood, 2 sheep and 3 grain. Rolled and another sheep. You needed a road and did 4:1 sheep for road trade. I would first tried a wood and/sheep trade with player for another sheep. That way would have gotten the city and didnt lose you reasource to robber later.

Definitely think you should’ve went to the 643 wheat sheep at the bottom instead of the 84 at the top, gives you more variety instead of banking on 8's, but let’s see how this goes

you skip too many turns and it makes it less enjoyable. I just started to become a fan, but i blink and I miss 2-3 turns of rolls. Ive played catan for 15+ years so im not a newbie. I wish you showed all of the rolls.

I’m pretty sure on colonist they would of taken the 10 8 sheep port from you. Since ore is super rare plus it has the 8 sheep. It’s wild that they didn’t just take it.

The title made me chuckle! Do not understand you didn't go for the 3:1. Would have been such a good spot. Really felt like you were all over the place haha. I do like the 1 on 1 games, they are fun.

Fun video again! I like that you show the entire thing as well as your thought process. I do wonder though if you perchance watch other creators also, like DyLighted Plays Catan or the older videos from Retired Hero. I think they would hold some interesting insights in certain things as placements/strategizing on what your opponents do instead of just looking at your own game and keeping track of cards that could really advance your games. PS. this was not meant as a criticism, just perhaps a helpful tip if you'd be interested.

You need to work on reading the board and understanding port location. Ie if it's a low wheat board, getting on a wheat port isn't going to have the value of a 3:1 port. You did a lot of 4:1 trades this game due to lack of port. Also tracking dev cards is really easy in a 1v1 as if you didn't play it then they could have it.

Also, I think your ore port would have been more useful than you think - you were low on wheat and high on ore a couple of times

Two things I've noticed. I don't know if you kept up with the opponents brick. If you know how much brick they have you can generally know whether or not they can contest you. Also your roadbuilding was a bit aggressive at the beginning. Of course you wanted the 8 4b 3s but you don't need to give that away if you can't cut off/build. That way it doesn't matter as much whether or not they take it before as you still have the resources that you can now use to reach somewhere else. You only got one guy against you so you don't need to care too much about space. Also you can do some really explosive cut offs like this and punish your opponent for overcommitting.

Kind of similar comment to the first one, but you used 7 roads for a total of one settlement spot. Also would be helpful for you to think about the total number of knights (14). So once you pulled a 7th knight, army is locked for the entire game.

13:10 - You don't need to be the first to reach 15 roads to secure Longest Road. If you completely divide the board by going up around the 9 sheep and prevent them from connecting to themselves, then the longest road they can potentially reach is 13, so at most you would only have to be the first to reach 13.

Hilarious that you played the game without knowing the rules: how many points to win, friendly robber being active, etc.. 1 vs 1 is kinda fun because it goes so fast...plus if you have the strongest OWS you can buy devs and literally keep the robber on a vital hex so that your opponent is without one resource for much of the game. It would be interesting to see you try again now that you know how the game works.

9 6 3 would have been a slightly better starting position
