I'd want a file system integrated in as well, move down to the tree to the folder, then use tags for that folder and subfolders. I'd also have to have an index list of all tags, and the ability to structure them into a folder tree, so a tag folder can act as a folder. Also the ability to hide file types from the preview.

You can use `--onefile` in your PyInstaller command to get a single EXE file.

i mean why? why not just start fresh and keep the notebooks safe.

"TagStudio" Immediately sounds like something I had on my mind a decade ago, a true "TagFS" file system. Amazing

Tag studio is what I've wanted... If it was inside a file explorer itself. Basically a file explorer where you can run around and tag files keeping consistent directories, then create these visual modules/pages that are essentially tag vaults. You can also easily use them as filters when browsing. So far everything I've found comes close but misses the mark by a thin margin. Good work nonetheless, but I certainly feel ya when it comes to crafting something that needs to suit your needs.

Ironically, in the time between the first video and this one, I began using Obsidian for my writing and worldbuilding. Definitely still interested to watch the development of TagStudio though!

I dont know like anything about coding and stuff but i think you can register it with windows defender or something and it wont give virus errors or im completely wrong!

Very interesting ideas unfolding in that presentation. I'm a librarian and archivist since 2018 and I've been having much of the same reflections about organizing my digital files. Used to dislike sidecars. Nowadays, I think they are alright : you can use software like Everything to easily identify a specific type of extension of a sidecar, or if the filename and sidecar are named the same, you don't need to bother maintaining them inside the same folder at all. Main problems are finding adequate file format for description, and an easy way to query or change information contained in those sidecards files (x-query, x-path, perhaps?). This would also allows to store assets outside of the tag library , enhancing it's portability. However, I really like the fact that thumbnails most often will allow you to directly identify the file you're searching for in TagStudio. Needless to say, I'll be monitor the progress of your work closely. I'm not adept at coding, but I'd be glad to help in any way I can.

Hello, I have a problem about the 'Colored Sidebar Snippet'. So each 'top' folder works fine. Then if I put a note into it, it isn't colored. But if I put a note, inside a folder, inside a 'top' folder, then the note is colored

How are Areas and Permanent notes different? It seems like you combined Literature and Resources into one category and could do the same with these as well. Great video btw!

13:30 maybe try "nuitka" for the windows release? It converts the python programm to C# or C++ (i forgor) before building the exe and in my experience it removed most of the False Positives. Also I gained some performance for my programm but I used tkinter which is slow to begin with. On top of that Im not sure if it will handle this big project since the exe build time is drastically higher than pyinstaller, but try your luck.

how to get autocomplete classes in cssclasses filed?

I am not able to see the drop down while adding cssclasses to a note's properties. I did add your snippets to the obsidian's snippets directory and enabled and even reopened obsidian, still nothing :( Please help

Love this video. I just switched everything from Notion to Obsidian. Their focus on Notion AI was okay to start with but felt it just messed my notes up. Linking notes and seeing them in a visual way is wonderful in obsidian. Love the Field Notes look - I'm only scratching the surface of Obsidian and what I can do with it. I might play around with my own personalisations after seeing this (once I get some spare time :D). Will check out more of your content moving forward.

Shut up and take my money! Please keep on working on this app! I have just now tested eagle and was not aware of the copying of alle the files. I would need to buy a new harddrive to be able to use this thing. I have a ton of video material and just the copying makes eagle not viable.. AT ALL! Your approach is just what i am looking for and i am very suprised that nothing like this exists. Thank you for sharing your project!!! I love it!

I've been looking a not garbage asset organization/previewer for years and for the longest time all I could ever find was useless D.A.M software (most of which was cloud hosted to boot). This is the first one I've seen that seems to have a simple clean approach to the problem of organizing and managing large collections of digital assets. Seriously keep it up!

On the false positives from PyInstaller, I've found that v5.12~v5.13 with minimal false positives and Windows Defender safe. v6.x.x with the same source code seems to generate a ton of false positives.. :(

This is insane, and a project I wish I could get majorly setup with my family pictures, and music. Alas it will probably be quite a while before I can make a music playlist in Plex, Navidrome, or the like with programs like this.
