The Apostle Paul loved the Believers at Corinth. In this section of the letter had to address them over some sin issues concerning division over ministers, a lack of spiritual maturity and humility. The Corinthian Believers were still immature. They boasted about wisdom. Paul had to correct them and he does so by writing about where true wisdom comes from. Pastor Darrell Winters

Paul had to leave Thessalonica shortly after arriving there. After receiving a report from Timothy regarding the church, he wrote this first of two letters to the congregation. The Corinthian Believers were similar to other Gentiles of their day. They were fascinated by those skilled in rhetoric. The Apostle Paul wanted them to remember that what he preached to them was singular focused. It centered on Jesus and His death and resurrection. During Paul’s 2nd Missionary Journey he travels with Silas to Thessalonica. Immediately they preach Jesus as the Christ and persecution followed. What can Believers today learn about enduring persecution from new Believers in a church planted in about 50 A.D.? Pastor Darrell Winters

Pride was on display within the Corinthian congregation. One of the evidences of this was the personal preferences for particular ministers of note by various groups in the church. Another evidence was the self-proclaimed wisdom supposedly possessed by those within the congregation. Paul reminds them of God’s calling on them and who they should be boasting in. Habakkuk has been brought by the LORD from anger to perplexity and finally, to resolve. The prophet closes this short book with a prayer in song. Hear him agonize over what is coming, but also hear him rejoice in God His Savior! Pastor Darrell Winters

Paul understands how foolish unbelievers consider the message of the Cross to be. Yet, he continues preaching this message. How can Believers today be encouraged to share the Gospel and resist becoming discouraged by the few who will listen to it? Pastor Darrell Winters

Habakkuk presumed that God’s people were ignoring Him. In this second and final response we find that those who truly belong to the LORD continually live by faith in Him. Those who do not do this are unbelievers. The LORD warns unbelievers about what is coming upon them and why. Pastor Darrell Winters
