Ninja - 1986 Mastertronic - Atari 8 bit, 800XL, 65 XE, NTSC - complete walkthrough
The game was fun to play in the 80's mostly due to the outstanding music by Rob Hubbard. The gameplay is too short and the graphics a bit too simple, but overall it still has that nice Japanese vibe.

Kung-Fu Master (Arcade, 1984 Irem Corp.) Getting to the third dragon difficulty.

Kung-Fu Master is one of these games we had in the saloon back then in the golden years of the arcade games. I think I never managed to get past the second dragon difficulty unlike some seasoned players with incredible reflex. Bruce Lee was one of the better arcade platform games for the 8 bit computers. The graphic was not outstanding even back then in the 80s, but it had a good replayability, especially when played with a friend - the other person could play with the green guy which made the game much harder to complete. I decided to re-record the game in NTSC as it looks too slow in PAL, even though my original At...

    the horrific sound of enemies spawning still haunts me to this day. I could only get a few stages in when I was a kid, the enemies were just too fast for my child mind to deal with. Thought it was the coolest game at the time, my church had it in their high school youth group room and rigged up with a switch that bypassed the quarter slot for free play! I was only about 7, and had to sneak in the room while the older kids weren't around, hahah!

    This is one of those games that is borderline unfair, but beatable if you know the right strategies to use. Only being able to fire right or left is definitely a challenge. I wasn't screwing around if I've ever said, I sure do sorely miss these video games; that were played especially during the entire 1980s. It gets more complicated/complex, when you get more than what you bargain for. Since you nowadays have these new video arcade game machines, that spit out these thin cardboard ticket stubs; which are made to win toy prizes with. Thus it costs you a lot more money, especially not worth even spending time on. 💰 🤑 💸 💲 🪙 💶 🎟 🎫

My daughter asks why we're games so hard back then? It isn't games we're harder they were just better if you ask me. they made you get better or you just looked like a dweeb in the arcade. They were obviously so hard to earn more money for the saloon owners. After some time more and more players started outsmarting the game mechanics and the owner had to either up the difficulty level or replace the arcade altogether. And yeah, there was a sort of arcade subculture and those most skilled guys were usually admired like some gurus. 😀

I guess I naively expected some kind of end sequence, for my hour of effort (with no form of progress save) but got nothing but a lackluster screen flash and congratulations text screen Same thing happened with Barbarian (Psygnosis). If you're going to make your users plod through to an actual ending in a single run at least give them something for their efforts. • @vernonmcgraw6627
      @vernonmcgraw6627 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You actually can kind of fire up and down, at least in the arcade version...if you’re in a vertical shaft & firing as you move up, the billets actually “bounce” off the wall & you can kill creatures below you. Same thing if you’re moving down. It takes pinpoint timing but it can be done in a pinch, just don’t rely on it, it’s more of a desperation move. Played it in arcades back in the early-mid ‘80s, was my favourite game along with Ms. Pac Man & Galaga! 🙂

    • @BlahBlah-op8yv
      @BlahBlah-op8yv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vernonmcgraw6627 They don't bounce off. If you watch them fire horizontally, the shots are long, so they take a little time to dissipate against the wall. You fire and move away, so the enemy runs into what's left of the shot. It's also not a desperation move. To become really good at the game you have to master it. In the later rounds you barely have enough time, so you have to take the most direct route, and take chances. Doing this requires that you use that shot all the time.

    • @KokoroXIII
      @KokoroXIII ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vernonmcgraw6627 Yes, and MAME emulates it the same way. The newer MAME versions also don't allow the player to fire left and right at the same time, because the original arcade used the second joystick to fire.
