I accidentally went into Horizon Worlds one day and now I get pop ups every time wanting me to go back in. I accidentally click it sometimes when trying to hit the X and there I am sent into annoying fuckin horizon worlds.

My favorite use case is: synth riders, movies, demeo. My complaints are: weight, comfortness, FOV. Ive since purchased a big hundreds of apps.

Great review! Subscribed :) I do have a couple questions I'm hoping you might be able to help me out with? 1) Ok, so out of the box, I find my new Quest 3 kind of blurry? Do you highly recommend Quest Games Optimizer? Do you think this will fix the blurryness? 2) My PPD is 57.5, so right on the cusp of what it says in the headset when you adjust the PPD. Meta says its good all the way down to 53, but when I adjust the PPD wheel, it says 58, then "min" - it doesnt count down "57", "56", "55" "54" "53" - does yours do this? Is "min" supposed to be 53? Sorry for the LONG winded questions, but just trying to figure out if I may have received a faulty headset because of the blur. Hope to hear back and thanks so much in advance!

The cool thing about MR is if you use the Bobo headstrap but remove the facial interface it creates full FOV. My wife looks me like I'm crazy when I use my Quest 3 to watch movies when I help clean the house, but she doesn't really care as long as the house gets cleaned. EDITED: BTW, playing Demeo in MR co-locate but with the facial interface removed is the only correct way to play Demeo

I disagree. Horizon Worlds is very basic right now probably because VR is still in it's infancy, been that VR only really went kinda mainstream and became more accessible with the Quest 2 in 2020 due to it's lower cost to entry and not needing a beefy PC and lots of wires to run like some of the popular VR headsets around that time as well as people spending more time at home. While the Meta Quest headsets are pretty cool and i love my Meta quest 3 I think they still lack widespread appeal due to them costing as much as a home console for what I suspect most consumers would see as a novelty gimmick device to pull out when friends are over so people likely don't see much value in purchasing one right now. For those reasons I would say that's the reason you only ever really see kids in Horizons Worlds and not many adults. That coupled with the fact horizon worlds only released in most countries July of this year (2024) and a handful in 2022 it's not had much time to properly mature yet and with probably the whole VR market been still kinda niche honestly I think that's why it's so basic right now. However I do see a lot of potential in Horizons as hopefully VR takes off and more people get into the Meta Quest ecosphere. So I don't think Meta Horizons should be killed off just yet as honestly it's barely had the chance to live. However you are 100% correct about the jank, squeakers and how awkward it is just talking to a random avatar in this virtual space I have genuine anxiety talking in Horizons like I don't get irl. Maybe I'm been optimistic and I'm wrong but I kinda see a lot of this as teething issues as again VR still is relatively new and it's still kinda niche all things considered.

MR in general is where the XR industry needs to focus, but MR boardgames like Demeo that can be played co-locate should be the big push. But classic games like Monopoly (yes, Monopoly) would be soooooo good for the industry and general adoption for non-hardcore gamers. The reason I (and others too) have been saying this is; although XR is super cool, full VR cuts people off from IRL and it's a bit overwhelming for XR noobs, especially the less hardcore you are about gaming. Being cut off also makes it much harder to teach an XR noob how to learn the mechanics. On top of that, the XR noobs is having to learn a completely new game. So, VR cuts noobs off; overwhelms; requires learning new fundamental mechanics; and the noob has to learn a new game... all at once. If you're not a mid-tier to hardcore gamer, that not a good thing, full stop. However, having a MR co-locate game like Demeo is much easier to take in, and if it's a game classic game like Monopoly, then the game itself becomes a fun teaching tool, as the noob already knows how to play those kind of games. It's a little like how Solitaire and Minesweeper taught my Boomer parents and even my grandparents how to use Windows 3.1 back in the day. Meta should very much do the same with the Horizon OS in MR. They need simple classic games, and new easy to learn games, and all ones that are **locally** social. Plus classic games should have **OPTIONAL** additional mechanics that can be added in as XR noobs become more comfortable with XR. I'm done ranting...

The worlds I go into are just Bobber Bay and the new add on to it, Gator Grotto. Those two are cool just for chilling out and fishing. I agree most of the other games are poorly done. They need to have much better tutorials on how to create in the game. You would think that they would have tons of professionals making worlds for them at that price ( Spending billions of dollars)

Agreed. Horizon finally has **SOME** fun things to do, but the biggest problem is; is that there are soooooo many "squeakers" that make the culture of the platform is only a little less awful than Gorilla Tag. I'm a Gen-Xer and I very much do not want to talk to random children, nor do I think their parents would want them to either. VRChat, Banter, Riff XR, and Resonite are all better Social VR Metaverse platforms.

Super Rumble is the only thing I play on Horizon Worlds. Pretty fun but only one map. They already made horizon worlds. It's called Rec Room.

Cool channel. Keep it up. Try using some plugins to make the audio sound better, de-esser, compressor and a simple EQ could help u a lot. There's a lot of free ones around and they can be used with Davinci resolve & premiere pro and turn the music down, it was too loud at certain parts. I subbed! ^_^

You're the first reviewer I've seen that mentioned eye strain. I've had ridiculously long play sessions with my q2 but my q3 is giving my eyestrain after only a couple hours. I look at monitors all day for work with no issues so I'm not sure what the fix is for me. Like you I'm not going back to quest 2 lol.

Meta has sucky peripherals, I always go 3rd party, except for the charging stand. I did buy the charging dock from meta, which came with rechargeable batteries for the controllers, so it was a great purchase. With that being said, I hear they sell the headsets at a loss, so I can forgive them for that. The Q3 is by far the coolest headset I've owned. Mixed reality is awesome. You need to try Wall Town Wonders. It is not janky at all. It is amazing.

It's amazing how easy it was to get dolphin and a Ps2 emulator set up there. I can finally play Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World and other wii, and Gamecube games(whichever survived the purge by nintendo). I mainly got it for Gravity sketch, since it works with Blender. I have a better way of VR sculpting with that, than trying to draw the objects in Blender. I rigged my first character from Gravity Sketch in Blender. Also, I went with the battery Strap(10000 Mag), and the battery was fine for me(For now...). I may just upgrade to another one because the charger doesn't come from in the pack. It's a type C, to Type C cord from the pack to the headset. So I would have to wait for the pack to charge just to charge the headset, or take two outlets to charge both at the same time... Also, I got this premium refurbished off of amazon. It also came with the Batman game, and the three months trial of Meta Quest +. In Gravity Sketch, you can even have a URL browser from the options playing as you vr sculpt, because it is dead silent when nothing is playing...

I have the Quest 2 and have been holding off buying the Quest 3 because I know the second I do Meta will announce a game changing Quest 4.... The Quest 3s is a poor mans version of Quest 3 with the same lenses as the quest 2.. So um , no way I'd buy that... Anyways, nice video, Cheers.

the best recommendation i could give anyone is to borrow your younger cousin/nephew's headset to TRY this whole meta VR experience first. ironically, i borrowed my father in-law's quest 2 and was consistently turned away by the amount of kids playing population zero (one of the only free FPS available on the headset) and how few experiences were actually for the adults who can afford these headsets. i literally wouldn't spend any amount on one now, knowing that it's the equivalent of some leapfrog games but in VR. great video!! you make excellent points which i don't hear anyone else mentioning, subbed, liked & saw this on my feed- i hope the algorithm is finally working for you!!!!!

Horizon Worlds is a joke. Super Rumble is fun, but it’s the only decent game in Horizon Worlds. Sometimes it feels completely dead inside-I can’t believe how few people are playing. I gave my nephew my old Quest 2, and he plays all the time with his friends, but never in Horizon Worlds. It’s always Gorilla Tag, Rec Room, or combat shooters. All the kids think Horizon Worlds is super lame.

They only just launched Horizon Worlds outside the US. So I don't get why anyone thinks something failed if it's barely been launched.

Your camera is a little jank. The setup is not bad and your audio is good but your camera could use an upgrade. Maybe even try filming with your phone and have a look at trying different editing techniques or different software

Hey I've been playing Horizons frequently for the past year, here's my take. You are right about most of the worlds sucking, the main reason I have stayed is because I like Super Rumble and its community of long term high level players, there are like 300 regularly active players and we all know each other and have competitions (95% of them are adults) However you have picked kind of a terrible time to review Horizons, they just opened their creator program to the community last month, this means that many of the builders in the game are not restricted by primitive shapes and code blocks but now can use software like blender, their in house desktop editor and real code to build worlds. Why I say its bad timing is because most of the users on this program are brand new to 3D modeling/coding ect and most of the worlds you just reviewed are the first efforts of community members who in the last couple weeks have gotten to grips with basic 3d modelling and programming. You should take note that there is a Meta Horizons Creator Program build competition on at the moment with a prize pool of $500,000, 15 prizes of no less than $20,000. Right now all the people on this creator program are building away for this competition and have been for the past month or so, the competition deadline is the 7th Dec, so id expect after this point there may be a higher level of community world creation around. I'm part of this community and I see what the other community developers are working on and its way more impressive than the worlds you have shown. Im currently building my own world as an entry and have spend hundreds of hours making it so far, I can show you my unpublished world which may give you a fairer estimation of what's possible with primitive building techniques. After this submission I will be moving on from primitives and building with 3D meshes which allow creators to have orders of magnitude more freedom. ...But all that said I see what you are saying, MH is not in great shape, the concept is great, the next big step for them is to remove the artificial building restrictions set in place to allow the quest 2 to keep up. Once they increase the capacity, complexity and animations allowed for each world, you will see a huge improvement. edit: Also in terms of things you can buy, they have just in the last week introduced credits into the game which can be purchased, creators can make new content that requires credits, but like I say this is new and a lot of the creators are new to the tools that have opened up to them so you wont see proper implementation of purchasables until some time after the competition has ended The vision Meta is going for with Horizons is a long term one, I think they are trying to make a game in which its easy for people to make their own games inside, like in garrys mod or minecraft, where the community is an integral part of the creation. It will take time for this structure to be made and I think that's why they don't mind sinking money into it, they probably envision MH will have community games that are equal to that of Echo and population one within its worlds, with players seamlessly moving in-between worlds.

They screwed up having the developers build in their own engine in game. VRchat thrived because they use the Unity engine and everything looks so much better. They have alot of kids too but you can create private/ group instances

Great video! Its interesting to see the 'nintendo mii' avatars with legs now (funnily enough, nintendo made these avatars in 2006 and they had legs then too). I own a Quest 2, 3, and pro. My interaction with the 'metaverse' is about 5 seconds when I boot up the headset... I just click on Virtual Desktop! Once in on my PC I turn on SteamVR, put down the meta controllers, and pick up Valve Knuckles and put on my vibe 3.0 body trackers. Then I turn on VRChat and boom, one of the best social VR experiences you can ever have, and its all community built. No 15 billion dollars needed. Yes this hardware is expensive, but its not out of reach if you want it bad enough.
