1965 Mustang sitting in the elements for years, will it run?
Venturing into the realm of automotive restoration, I take on the formidable challenge of reviving a 1965 Mustang that has weathered the elements for an undisclosed duration. With the passage of time leaving its mark on this classic beauty, I embark on the mission to awaken its slumbering engine. Despite the uncertainty surrounding its history and the extent of its neglect, I am determined to breathe life back into this iconic vehicle. As I roll up my sleeves and prepare to delve into the restoration process, the anticipation of uncovering the mysteries within this vintage machine fills me with both excitement and trepidation.

I used to have a 78 Monza 2+2 I swapped a 1971 Impala 350 into and an 80 Monza Town Coupe I swapped a 72 Monte Carlo 350 into. Your video brings back memories of both. I put an Edelbrock TM1 intake on my 78 Monza and it had factory exhaust manifolds like yours does. It had overheating problems with that thin 2 row radiator. Surprised your cooled with a thin radiator. I noticed your alternator moved when you turned the belts by hand. Mine had the factory AC alt bracket that mounted the alt in the center top near the water pump. The 71 350 I had in the 78 Monza cracked because the block froze. Like you I drained the water pump, but there is still water in the block you have to pull the block drain plugs to get all of it out. I used the unique v8 Monza parts from the first Monza project to build my 80 Town Coupe. This time I used the 1 1/2" Hooker headers and had a stock 2 row rad re-cored and used a pusher electric fan. This 350 had a Performer intake and a Comp Cams 268H high energy camshaft. It ran 105 mph in the quarter and got into the high 13s on 175/80R13 snow tires.

Glad to bring back memories! I dont recall having overheating issues with this one, i did have the new radiator i in it, if memory recalls correctly it was a vette radiator, not sure what year. Biggest thing i remember is that it leaked about 2 quarts of oil a day going to and from work lol. I have big plans for this one, going to have that original frame from the 67 vette that needs a home after i move the body over to that Rothspeed frame. and i got a couple 454 blocks laying around.
