My daughter and I did the Linville Gorge Loop not long ago and a friend lent me his Lowa Camino Evo GTXs. Kinda gross, but they were fairly new and clean and I used my own insoles. Unbelievably nice boots. Heavy, but man it like all I had to do was look uphill and they started going on their own and after stepping on rocks and roots all day with a 30+lb backpack my feet didn't hurt at all. When we got home I hocked a kidney and bought my own pair. We did it last year and I wore a pair of Merrell Crosslander 2s that are light and comfy, but the wrong tool for that job (soles too squishy) and my feet were on fire every night and my ankles stiff every morning.
Lynn has been one of the most successful people in Rockland and is such an awesome person! Thanks for visiting Rockland!
my guy doesn't even open the main compartment
I went there today. all the way from Florida. love it
Thank you very much for this short and interesting review. I am thinking about buying this Osprey model, but how about the peak design capture clip for my camera? Do you have any experience to share with me? Best regards from Luxembourg
I'm so tired of hearing backpack weight as the first thing mentioned in a review as if it was the most important thing. It's down on the list of things to judge, abou backpacks and using this stat is lazy. It's a truck and nobody is choosing tractor trailers based on how much they weigh, but how much weight they can carry well. For other things weight does matter and adds up, but most people will choose based on spec sheets so it's a great marketing point, which will sacrifice durability and load suspension which can't be put on spec sheet. Also, it's rare to see a review which actually carries the intended load for a few days to test suspension, instead of focusing on zippers and pockets.
I wouldnt want to be caught in the fzin with any coulee wjth those open pkckets on the outside.??
Why do some bag manufacturers design day hiking bags without including a rain cover? Do they think it's guaranteed not to rain on a day hike?
is the helmet detachable?
Not quickly and easily.
how much you can compact the bag?
There are straps to keep the load compact and tight, but in terms of the whole bag folding up and compacting, not that well.
Thanks for the review. Love the clear explanation and enthusiasm 👍
Thanks for watching and the feedback. 👍🏻
I made the Mistake of getting a MiniMo. Had they made it just 1” taller, it could fit the burner, 100gram fuel and the pan adapter. But NO, it will really only take the burner and pan adapter, or a 100gram fuel with burner crammed in sideways and then the lid doesn’t fit well. All the the want of 1”!!
I think that is a really good point. I know exactly what you're talking about. Thanks for watching and the comment!
My small gas fits in the cup attached to the burner you have to slide them in sideways connected together down into the cup. Another youtuber shows this also.
There is a company (Tortoise Gear) that makes a Ferro rod replacement (Fire Fly) for the Swiss Army knife toothpick. Great dual use item especially if you carry floss or the flossers for the teeth. Check it out. www.amazon.com/dp/B07L46CQ5L/?coliid=I3147YCKP3R42W&colid=3UCB3JSQ07EL3&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it&th=1
Your first aid kit sucks! 😂
It's been pretty useful so far. Thanks for watching. The Muppets that heckle were always my favorite as a kid.
Question: where’s everyone getting the blue bungee for the front pocket?

@@Expedition_Hemispheres You’re the best!
Thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
I almost bought the 30L a few months ago, but I wasn't crazy about the back pad and the only color the seller had was pretty awful. I went with the Osprey Talon Pro 30 instead and I don't regret it. I like the idea of the Coulee's full access, but then my Baltoro and my Redcloud both have that and I never use it. Same for separate sleeping bag compartments. I like them, just never use them.
i got the same model BUT i really miss a Front loader like at the faripoint 55 or even better at the Yukon 50+10 Trekking backpack
Front loading is super convenient. No doubt about it. Thanks for watching!
Worst review of this pack I've seen. You missed so much and even call the stow on the go feature an elastic attachment point. Know what you're talking about first, then post. Bad.
Thank you for the comment! We appreciate feedback!
Thanks for the review. I've used the Platypus system a bit and it does attach to 28mm water bottles (common water bottles) as well as CNOC bags, so it is versatile that way. I prefer the Squeeze though, for durability and longevity.
Good info, thanks!
on sale at rei now...i just ordered one.....im gonna compare with my kuiu pack
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Any updates on using this pack?
...thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Pull the tag on the back of the yoke harness that lists the bag’s size… open the flap, pull out the black plastic, shove the plastic down through the velcro that holds the yoke in place, now you can slide the yoke up/down to adjust the torso side, pull out the plastic and put it back where you found it (shove it into place firmly so the flap folds smoothly back over it again.
Very helpful overview of this bag I've watched COUNTLESS reviews of EVERY BAG under the sun. I narrowed my search down to a handful from Gregory , Deuter, Fjallraven, and Mystery Ranch. This video has me ready to pull the trigger for this great bag. 👍🏆
Glad it was helpful!
Good review.
Glad you enjoyed it
you do it wrong...full (warm)on top, empty (cold) under. Remeber...you send liquid not gas. The gas on the top is pushing the liquid gas on the bottom.
We might need to do an edit on that. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks for watching.
How would this compare to the Stout?
I don't have personal experience with the stout, but my understanding is that it is very comparable. From what I can tell it is lacking a few features bringing the price point and weight down from the Baltoro. It's a newer pack with less reviews, but Gregory makes great gear. I'd say if you are comfortable with the design and pocket layout, it's a great option.
Nice informations!
Thanks for watching!
People complain about the weight of Osprey packs, Gregory too, but then they put one on with 35lbs of gear in it and realize how unbelievably supportive and comfortable they are and they're like "Ooooh, okay. Now I get it!"
This is definitely true. 👍🏻
I think puffy jackets are ugly as homemade soap, but I have one because they work really well. Mine is a synthetic Rab Cirrus Alpine and I like the synthetic for just the reason you pointed out and I don't have to pack yet another layer to protect it in case it rains. And that is why I think down outer layers are pointless. The advantage they provide is reduced weight and pack size, but if you have to pack another "just in case" layer to protect it from getting wet, what advantage does it really have?
All good points. Thanks for watching.
LOVE IT BOYS!!!
Thanks for watching!
No way the mini mo used 24 grams
I'm sure it could be done with less fuel. Thanks for watching.
First video I've seen from the channel, production quality is very high for a smaller channel. Color me impressed 👍
Thanks for the compliment! We take great pride in our production quality. Matt is the mastermind and absolutely the best production guy I've ever been around. Thanks again!
Great as always boys!!
You're the best!
Youd wear long johns in bare ground conditions (no snow)?
They are very light! They actually help keep me cool and protected from the sun.
looking at possibly getting this pack but the only thing that worries me is the lack of load lifter straps on the shoulders. any thoughts?
If the pack is not overly heavy it won't be an issue. I have worn this pack several times at 25lb and had no issues. I imagine if you went above that you would start to have some problems.
Instead of triple antibiotic ointment I have honey packets. You can use honey on cuts but you can also use it for hypoglycemia secondary to diarrhea or diabetes. It is a cough suppressant. Benadryl is a great option. Off label painkiller, sleep aid, allergic reaction. I would put the hydrocortisone in a straw and iron seal it. Oral rehydration salts are great. Instead of Imodium I prefer pepto as it is a catch all for digestive tract issues.
All great tips! I especially like the straw iron holder! Such a smart way to go. I think we are going to go over our kit and do a follow up video, I guarantee you will see some of your suggestions. Thanks.
I live here in Maine. I’ve climbed a few western mountains in my life, and well as hiking the Grand Canyon down and up in a day. Mt. Katahdin is some of the most difficult hiking I’ve ever done. As you mentioned……no switchbacks! The East is no joke! Nothing to be ashamed of, men. Thanks for the beautiful scenery!
Thanks for watching! We hope to be back in Maine again!
A plus on this bag is that you can use it as carry-on if you don't fully load it at the top, the frame is right about the max size. Source: Flew with it in Europe.
Great as always!! Love the title!
Thanks!
Great stuff as always! I know several people that can use those booties to keep their feet warm! ;)
Thanks for watching!
Great video boys!! So much I didn't know in this video, great stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Merino wool wicking would be very good and breathability very good. Synthetic wicks better than merino and is more breathable than merino. That may depend on the merino wool weight. But merino does not hold odor were as synthetic do . Enjoy your video.
Thanks for watching! We appreciate the comments.
HAHAHA! OOPS!
Awesome as always!!
Thanks for watching!
Along with the comments already provided, another use for alcohol preps is for nausea. If a person is nauseous they can open a prep and inhale the fumes and the nausea will go away. I work as a paramedic and it's actually in our protocols. I can verify that it works as well since I've used it on myself several times. Also they can be used to get a fire going if need be. Also for your PAR list I would suggest adding expiration dates on meds to it so that can be replaced when they expire.
Great tips! That is a great use for the alcohol pad, I definitely had no knowledge about that. Thanks for watching and your input!
I would rethink all the packaging. In case of an emergency, you don't want to have to open 3 layers of packaging (bag, ziplock, blisterbox..) Especially if you have an injured hand, you don't want to spend minutes of opening packages with one remaining hand. I get the idea of having things sorted, but you won't get a prize for the best organized kit. You want to be fast, and you will also save a little weight and space when you ditch the unnecessary layers of plastic packaging.
Great thoughts, definitely worth considering. Thanks for watching!
Ok, so you don't want to be rummaging around in a bag, taking longer than necessary to find what you need, because nothing is organized either. What's more is that it's a little ouchie boo boo kit, not an emergence kit. Time is not going to be a factor. He could literally hike a couple of miles after realizing he has the injury before stopping to treat it with 0 meaningful change in the outcome. Truthfully, he could throw the kit out, except for the water purification tabs, and replace it with a few feet of Leuko tape.
I agree, using individual ziplocks is being better organized. It’s a first aid kit, not a trauma kit.
Zip Stich
Here is why I would not. Wound closure is 100% cosmetic. Wounds close on their own they just leave scars. In the wilderness closing a wound is likely MORE dangerous than leaving it open. The really dangerous flesh eating necrotizing bacteria are anaerobic so sealing them up is disastrous. You want to REALLY clean a wound before you think about closing it.
What is the bag you're using?
It's a small bag made by Gossamer Gear. I added a first aid sticker I got on Amazon. www.gossamergear.com/collections/accessories/products/storage-sacks
