Sharing our story as we begin living full time on our boat, Fresh2Salty, and start exploring the world. We know it will not be an easy road, but we are up for the challenge. this life that will test our relationship, our faith and our family. We pray that the life we see ahead is the path God Sees for us as well.

Awesome catch guys! Funny, the picture you sent, we couldn't make out a fish, guess cell service saving bandwidth.
@@ChrisDoesWhat it’s tonight’s dinner
@SVFresh2Salty love it guys!
Dude, nice 🫡👍
We got 6 filets off of that. For a not very big fish…. I was very pleased!
Where?
That was somewhere between Cape Canaveral and Melbourne
Hang on!
Lol
Hey yall!
@@SVSaltyAbandon hey!
Did the old system bite the dust or just not make enough?
@@jamesclements9448 it did bite the dust and it didn’t make enough
But, as you know, even our first year we were having constant problems with the old one. Eventually, my strip it down and clean it method stopped being effective lol
Water baby!!!
Awesome video guys! Y'all had a lot of space to work with. 🎉❤
@@ChrisDoesWhat ha ! It’s all relative isn’t it. How’s your install going ?
@SVFresh2Salty good, we've made about 100 gallons of water. TDS hangs around 140 to 160. Wife is worried that we may be filtering our water too much with the fridge filter.
@SVFresh2Salty y'all heading out today?
@ yeap, come with us !
@SVFresh2Salty would love to, but waiting on some parts. Plan to head that way on the 6th.
That’s some good lookin work on the dodger guys.
Dodger looks good! Late Merry Christmas!
Thanks! One day I will be sewing with ease. For now it’s a labor of love for sure
@SVFresh2Salty looks great. We still have to fix the mess we call our Bimini.
May as well spring for the hard Bimini, it won’t cost any more than making a new one.
Most hardware stores will have brass fittings like that!!
@@aidenramos9717 yeah that was nearly 5 years ago.
What do you mean sail? 😂 There’s no wind in fog
We actually motored out of the inlet and was able to put up sails. The fact outside the inlet there were about 4 or 5 of us sailboats that were able to sail and/or motor sail from Ft. Pierce to West Palm Beach. All started off or “set sail” in that fog
Sail outside the channel yes. Especially if radar is working.
Just saw this. Thankful we have working radar. Outside wasn’t to awful. But getting out of the inlet made me very nervous 😬
Cheer~~~a type of winch used especially on ships to hoist anchors and haul on mooring lines and, especially formerly, to lower buckets into and hoist them up from wells.😊
What a time that was! Your chain didn’t look too bad coming up.
@@sailingtheatlas lol I beat a lot of it off that was nasty !
Such an exciting upgrade for you guys!
I can not wait to get it installed!
You can lay multiple layers without sanding as long as you do the next layers quickly
Wish I knew that back then. I was so exhausted after that crazy mess lol
Just watched couple videos of you guys. Saw the troubles with fuel tank and others. You guys toughed it out and prevailed. My wife kids and I are thinking of live on anchor on a trawler. I loved that you kept faith and trusted him rather than curse him aloud.
Thanks and 3 years later we are still at it. Probably the best decision we have ever done and has been so worth it
Did you take any footage during the storm?
@@jamesclements9448 we decided not to stay on the boat. And went and stayed with the some friends in Georgia
Great video, guys! Looks like a better spot for a hurricane than Dragon Point.
We are so glad we decided to move!
Could have done without the music when watching an info vid.
Info vid? I am curious what info was you getting from that video?
Sorry to hear man, hope all is going well. Just subscribed, and thanks for all the free advice.
@@ChrisDoesWhat any time and thanks for subscribing
Yikes
Yeah, that was a crazy day. Atlantic towers did replace the parts that broke. And we have not had any issues issue with it since.
We haven’t gotten to spend much time in fort pierce, except for going down to work on a yanmar at the marina, looks like fun!!
@@SVBreezyBaby do you work on Yanmar engines ?
God Bless you ma'am stay safe❤❤❤❤
@@tifwash9 please say a prayer for Florida, the whole state is going to need a miracle!
And you still have your canvas up? Hope all turns out ok.
Well, we can’t exactly take it off. Because there are solar panels attached on the other side. We are praying for a miracle. Supposedly we are looking at 30-50 knot winds in our location. Which will be uncomfortable, but possible for the canvas to survive. We do have a plan to make a hard top soon. So if the canvas is destroyed I suppose that plan gets pushed up the priority list.
Stay safe.
Better than raymarine videos
Thank you. We were definitely shooting for something everyone could use,
Window tint for the windows. Deep draft rolls less at anchor. Carnivore menu for your best health. Stop eating junk food and plants to get healthy. Cancer feeds on sugar and carbohydrates so Stop it. Watch doctor Shawn Baker and doctor Ken Berry. I eat beef and eggs for 2 years and feel great, lost 40#.
We love our island packet 40, 2 peeps, dog & cat
& Nikki can help with the enclosure hehe
I need to win the lottery to pay for materials! But I definitely need some help figuring it all out!
Well we had dinner on the boat & enjoyed the space for sure. When can I get some more curry lol
As soon as we cross paths! Curry or something equally as yummy!
You guys are awesome boat neighbors! Thanks for taking ours with you.
Yeah we are lol
For a long-distance sailing boat, I would always look at the keel version first; I would never take a short keel with a lot of draft; I would also be extremely reluctant to take a free-standing rudder blade!
@@hansguenter6263 so far with what we have done she’s been great. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching !
And yet I, after 40 years and over 200,000 cruising miles would not take anything except a fin keel and spade rudder. The key is to get a properly engineered fin keel and spade rudder - and few production boats are well engineered and I wouldn't consider a beneteau. The rudder stock on my boat is 8" diameter and it's built for grounding and is stronger than almost all skegs except metal boats
@@deerfootnz I always find that everyone has their own perspective on things. Thanks for sharing yours. We had a discussion afterwards about this video and the fact that we left out one important bit of information. Fresh 2 Salty is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey DS. The original owner purchased this boat in France, with the purpose of proving that he could single handedly sail her to the Bahamas. Which he succeeded in doing. Everyone had their liked and dislikes about various features of every boat. It’s always a give and take with every boat. We feel fortunate to own this particular boat. And confident that she has a few more long ocean passages in her.
@@deerfootnz Good luck;!
@@SVFresh2Salty th-cam.com/users/shortsxek2puqzh-U
Excellent video lots of good perspective for prospective boat owners. Follow on question, how nerve wrecking was the first few months after the initial purchase of the boat. Emptying an entire house, and uprooting everyone is stressful enough. But then taking on full time boat life is a hugely difficult task. What were the trails and tribulations of that process and as importantly how did you all feel during the process.
We will have to see what we can put together thank you for the suggestions !
An Englishman man who looks like an American living in the USA⛵👍
Very accurate! With dreams to sail our boat to England!
I love fishes 🐠 My favourite animals 🎣
I am in the Melbourne/Space Coast area. If you have not done so, perhaps check Eau Gallie Yacht Basin (EGYB). I have a 30 ft sailboat there and we pay 16/foot. It is on the mainland side. I know that it is on Dockwa as well. The nice part of EGYB is that you have the small "downtown" area of the Eau Gallie Arts District within a walk of the marina.
We checked with them because we didn’t want to go to Telemar. But they only had transient space and wanted $2,000 a month. Since Stephen is having a lot of medical care due to the accident, and we have to pay for some of that out of pocket on top of missing work for the medical care (he is a contractor so he doesn’t have leave), we just couldn’t swing $2,000. We had really hoped to get in somewhere, anywhere but it seems like it’s not possible at the moment.
@echopapa5875 it sucks for sure. Sorry I accidentally deleted your comment
Doesn't feel right to "like" the video. I do it only to help the algorithm. But I am glad you are back on your feet and that there is some sort of path forward. I am glad your sons are there to pitch in. Keep your head up.
Thanks james
Glad to see you back on your feet after that horrible event. Hope you get a full recovery from the injuries! We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers... stay safe!
Thanks Sam !
suggestion for a future video... review of the boat. likes, dislikes, things to watch for when buying one or looking at a one like her.
We could do something like that
Recaps, outtakes, may work.
@jamesclements9448 that might work
That my work
stay in the fight brother, the doctors will figure out what is going on and get you all fixed up my dude. Ultimately god has a plan for us all, and things will happen per his design. you know as well as I do, we don't have the capability to understand that design. would it be cheaper to pull the boat out temporarily and store her and you all hop in an extended stay hotel for the short term?
Unfortunately not a hotel for the month is $2000 and then the cheapest on the hard storage is $800 + $25/day
Great helpful many thanks, I was using paper charts and still am. Now I'm just setting up my old Raymaine Chart Plotter c95 which does not have a touch screen but looks the same as yours. SV Skoiern IV
Glad to hear it was helpful!
Glad to see your getting exercise while cruising
@@ChaosNConfusion1 This was before my accident. I can’t walk that far now
Well he was… butttt things went a bit sideways soon after this video. We will make a video about it soon.
Use Dielectric Grease on all shore power connections. th-cam.com/video/2nQu758BLX4/w-d-xo.html
I’ll give that a go
I was going to ask if your receptacle has threads on it, but you showed it, and your new one does. the cable should have a ring on it that you can tighten down nice and snug. so that it cant wiggle free. looks like the old one didn't have them. Glad you all are keeping busy :D
It did but they can work loose with the movement of the boat when at dock. Tide changes and wakes from other boats
Yes ....
