Sammy Miller in his Rocketcar, American daredevil performing in Zandvoort,The Netherlands 1984 Doing 1/8 Mile in 1.7 Sec
Sweet. Btw I’m the most recent comment you’ll find less than two years old
I saw sammy in vanishing point at zandvoort in holland in 1984....is this where this clip is from??
there is something so special about watching a rocket car, borderline insane to drive 1,talk about courage,RIP Sammy
2020 lol?
One of the oldest youtube video I ever watched
Я с такой скоростью после суток с работы домой лечу если клапан срывать начинает))
Incredibly fast !!! Holly s@$& !!!
Scary fast.
That entire pass was quicker than my reaction time !!
Haha that's funny. My best 60' is 1.49, Sammy did the 1/8 in 1.7 - holy shit!
Best speed video for me!
i was there, never saw something like that again
Can you remember what the E.T. / MPH was ?
@@SorryWereOpen247 1/8mile 1.606 seconds @ 319mph
My left ear enjoyed this video. Still an epic run.
james i was there at hollywood speedway my dad took my brother and i . i'll never forget it i was ten at the time. i think tom hoover and his showtime funny car was there also
The car is that fast that it seems not to accelerate but starting almost with full speed
Sammy Miller holds the world drag racing record- Kitty O'Neil recorded her record on a desert strip, not an actual drag strip.
shadeaths .... I Agree !!!
wheres the posted time?
I saw that car run in 1979 at Hollywood Speedway. Major chest hit at takeoff. Made two runs first was 4 seconds track staff said dont run another 4 so he ran a 3!!!! blew the light bulbs off the tree etc. a real show man!
Holy shit! I was there bro!!!
That is awesome!!!
James Crownvic Went to North Miami High. You?
Fort Lauderdale High 1982
I was there drove my 3 wheeler in through the woods parked and sat in the stands 1$ Schlitz beer
Sammy did post a half mile once at spain somewhere, and it was ridiculous, I think both his ear drums burst. god bless him
He was my next store Neighbor
i thought i takes 88mph to go back to the future lol

Bruhh
wow tht kind of makes me want quit trying on the racing anywhere were all slow lol bonkers I wish I new wat tht felt like
Respect voor allebei de meide!
PS Her best trap speed was 412mph- but with a higher E.T.
My dad knew Sammy and even went to the track with him a few times to help. so cool
As far as I know, the fastest piston pass is still under 340mph. They also have not broken the 4 second barrier. The only Driver to break 400mph in the 1/4 Mile was Kitty O'Neil in Ky Michaelson's Rocket Dragster at El Mirage in 1977. Her best pass was 3.22@396mph. Because it was in the desert¬ at an NHRA track or event, the NHRA ignores it. Sammy's best was 3.54@386mph. Kitty was deaf- and small. This worked to her favor. She stated, "I can't hear the noise... but I can feel the power!"
Imagine having so much power on vibrations alone that the deaf driver can hear it
@DaMasterClub Totaal niet maat alleen het zijn gewoon 2 taaie alleen die andere heeft wat dikkere armen en meer zelfvertrouwen
@herman125 I don't know what hydro-oxygen is, the fuel source is over 90% concentrated hydrogen peroxide.
my 60ft isn't even that fast :(
I saw this car when he did the record at Santa Pod. It still is THE most amazing thing I have ever seen. Its a hydrogen peroxide rocket, same as lunar landing vehicle. Mike
wat een pussy die andere chick
@lookn4thepowpow nos bottles mate
how do these compare to the modern day Top Fuels? Which are faster?
Dan rockets. Jets cannot run under 5 seconds
Bring back the rocket cars! Fastest accelerating cars in the history of the world and I never got to see one in person! (I know it can't happen ,but I can whinge in hopes can't i?)
luckily there's no bunny on the road
@R35Man it says eigth mile in the description. not quarter
@DanFrederiksen ahem.... read the description
I bet his body hurt after running that thing
oh my f**king god!
propulsion is by hydrogen peroxide. mixed with oxygen it expands at a massive rate.they used a thruster off a lunar landing vehicle. his 0-60 time was too fast to get. 0-100 m.p.h. was in 0.36 of a second pulling 12g's.
but what was the quarter mile time???? so amazingly stupid to make such a video and not state the time..
3.58 at over 400mph
Rocket cars are insanely fast.... they reach 200 mp/h when a F1 driver notice the green light.....lol.....but its true...:)
400 mph in 4 seconds, ouch.
Apparently the reason these cars are not running any more is because the tracks cannot get public liability insurance to allow them to run. The G-Forces applied to the driver were causing them to lose consciousness. Vanishing Point did have an issue with obtaining 90% Hydrogen Peroxide fuel but I believe it was overcome. Tragically Sammy Miller was killed a few years ago in a workplace accident. He was a super guy and the real driving force behind the rocket cars at Santa Pod,UK. RIP Sammy.
Note that 0-100 mph in 0.4 seconds is an average accelleration of 11 G. Not for very long time, but still impressive! :-)
i want to comment but I'm at a loss for words
i saw sammy miller at santa pod in england. the man is a god. sadly missed
that funny car was the baddest car, I remember seeing it run when i was about eight or nine years old. he ran the car at an event at englishtown raceway park back in the day. i told people about the car for years and nobody believed that there was ever a rocket car that ran so fast...if i never saw it with my own eyes, i may not have either. but it was and is true... over twenty five years later... that was a BADD car... thanks.
Zandvoort had niet korter moeten zijn ;-)
I saw this car in 84 or 85 at Santa pod Raceway in England. It was unbelievable. 1/4 mile in 2.6 sec i believe.
He was killed in a explosion in a Texas oil field. Sammy and I did a lot of street racing in the late sixty's then I was in his pit crew with his first dragster. He was really a great guy and a good friend and will be missed by many... J Noll
