4wding at Cobaw State Forest | January 2023
Cobaw State Forest is a great 4wding destination in Victoria for a day trip (or even an overnight camp). It is only 100kms north of Melbourne, making it an ideal spot. The forest is relatively small, which means it is quick drive between the fun tracks. There are definitely some very fun and challenging 4wd tracks.
On this particular trip, the tracks were still clearly impacted from the storms and floods back in 2022.
My only piece of advice is to be prepared!

Goulburn Weir | Kayak Fishing | Murray Cod

Goulburn Weir is one of my favourite Murray Cod Fishing destination in Victoria! You will see why in this video and I fish and explore the lake. It is peaceful, pretty, not crowded and contains Murray Cod. Goulburn Weir, Nagambie Lakes and sections of the Goulburn river are great Murray Cod Fishing options and still accessible (given the floods and water levels in many of the major rivers at th...
Lake Nillahcootie | Murray Cod Opening 2022 | Exploring | Camping | Boating

We spent an awesome 5 days at Lake Nillahcootie. This was truly one of our best Billion Star Adventures! The fishing was hot, the weather was hot and the surrounding mountain ranges were truly spectacular. Apart from our usual fishing, we drove through Mount Samaria State Park, visited Mansfield and loved every moment of this trip. We caught over 30 fish and most were natives. We can't wait to ...

Cod Opening in 2022 finally arrived! Our plans to fish and camp in NSW proper were not possible due to all the rain and flooding. Instead we decided to head to Lake Mulwala and fish, camp and explore for a couple of days before the Cod Classic started. We then moved on to Lake Nillahcootie and this turned out to be another awesome adventure. As always, we had a ball! Lake Mulwala is a beautiful...
King Valley - Camping and Exploring

We had our annual 4wd Club meet-up in the King Valley. We spent our days exploring the area, visiting wineries, sampling local produce and of course a a little 4wding. The weather was cold and wet which did limit our ability to hit the all the 4wd tracks that were planned. Still an awesome time. There is so much to explore in the King Valley and this is yet another gem in Victoria.

Major Creek and Goulburn River Camping and Kayak Fishing | Murray Cod Winter Fishing

We spent 3 days up at Major Creek camping and kayak fishing for Murray Cod with the Yak Hunter crew. Major Creek and the Goulburn River are some of the closest waters to Melbourne that have Murray Cod. The weather held out and while we didn't catch any Cod, we still had an awesome time in the great outdoors.

I headed up to Gunbower Island for a Winter reccy, fish and camp. However I didn't listen to the locals and found out the hard and long way that the creek was being drained. It is an awsome National Park and I did discover the sections that I will be back to fish in Summer. I also had fun playing around in the Pelican Catch 110 HDII kayak with the pedal system.

    Thank you. I would like to know how is the propel stored compared to flap drive system? I have seen some videos saying propel are much bigger hard to store in a car as well as needing a good place to store than flap system, which is much eaiser. What you think?😃

    • @billionstarsadventures
      @billionstarsadventures 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey mate, I would agree that the Propel unit is harder to store in the car as it is a somewhat awkward shape. I often go kayak fishing and remote camping for up to a week at a time and I manage to pack all my camping and fishing gear without a problem. I wouldn't be deciding on a kayak drive system based primarily on how you can store it unless you are seriously constrained for space. Once you hit the water, the feel of a solid propel drive unit makes up for any packing challenges.

    This looks awesome, thanks for sharing this. I'm planning to do this walk after the Lerderderg. Couple of questions for you. Is there water in the tank at Cameron's? Also there looked to be a few creeks, how close are they to camp if I bring a water filter with me rather than carrying 4L?

    • @billionstarsadventures
      @billionstarsadventures ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Andrew, there was water in the tank when we went. There wasn't a creek close to our camp (although we didn't exactly explore the area for a creek or other water sources). Many of the creeks along the route did have water in them. However it is worth noting that this was after significant rain. I personally would carry water as this area is often very dry. We are heading back up in a couple of weeks for some 4wding :)

      Thanks mate! The Catch 110HD is a great kayak and I do like it. However I have a clear favourite in the Slayer 10 Propel. The ability to pedal in reverse can not be underestimated when lure fishing in freshwater. That is why my view is that the propeller based pedal systems are way superior to the fin based pedal systems.

    • @billionstarsadventures
      @billionstarsadventures 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jay, I personally prefer the Slayer 10 over the Slayer 10 Max for the reason you point out - weight and the ability to car top. The Max is a better option if you want to install lots of gadgets. It has the really cool access for an under hull transducer mount without drilling, electronic switch mounting plates, ability to mount a rear anchor or motor and the cool inserts for tackle boxes. Both are amazing kayaks with the Propel Pedal unit.
