Piano Improvisation No. 1 | Adult Learning Piano
This piece is improvised, entirely original and my own. I recorded a few takes before I settled on the progression. I'm really pleased with what I was able to come up with. I hope you all enjoy it!
The chord progression is:
C, Bb, Ab
Repeat a few times before key change to
C#, E, F#, G#
If you're interested in how I came up with it, let me know, I'll make a video.

I learnt this piece 2 months ago and got very lax with piano so I didn't upload it. I've been busy with other things over the last few months and haven't been playing as much. I've gone so far as to fall out of the habit of practicing, sadly, but I have my first piano lesson booked for a few months from now, so I'm hoping I can get myself back into the swing of things pretty soon. Anything from Final Fantasy is top tier difficulty. Congrats to you.
Why you stop posting? Its great to see genuin journey
i spontaneously got my first keyboard this last christmas. So far playing stuff like Mad world and Rains of Castamere. Technique still needs a little bit of work but I'm trying to be meticulous in self correcting those type of mistakes. It's been a blast. You're learning at a phenomenal pace btw. I had the luxury of being a guitarist most of my life before I started playing the keyboard a few months ago.
Amazing !! What did you do for training ?
Why you so quickly learned playing piano😭, Im so jealous 😢
Thumbs up for Final Fantasy :)
Do you still play?
Amazing progress ! would love to know what books / notes you bought that you had in the first couple of months. Im 43 and learning with my kids. I have no music background what so ever so ive decided to get into it.
bro i want to know what book u were using...can u give me the name of the book or perhaps the link where i can buys?
Your progress is great even after few months, I was just looking before this at another person which didn't managed that smoothness even after 1y. You've been playing at the wrong height the whole time btw, the piano should be lower.
why did you stop uploading?!
The channel is dead, but thanks for the great content! While I didn't care much about the recordings themselves, the interesting part was the commentary.
Hi , how did u record such clean audio ? I also have p45.
He most likely uses the MIDI/wav export of the piano. On my Roland FP series, you can record in midi to the onboard memory or record wav to a USB key. You then sync smartphone video+audio with the clean WAV audio.
Funny how we have a similar musical background ! Drummer here, 9 months in the piano journey, keep up the good work !
Clair de lune is my favorite piece, and my inspiration for wanting to learn piano. You did a wonderful job to my ear. Thanks for the progression video!
Actually you are young man, you or not adult 😂 I started playing piano whit note sheet when i was 37 years old.
I am 29/30 years old in this video.

what was the method you follow, Who taught the prigressions and chords, what are your learning matirials. Thanks and great job.
I used Adult Piano Adventures book 1, followed it strictly whilst learning scales. I used the Complete Book of Scales, Chord, Arpeggios, and Cadences to learn other stuff about scales. I also used Playing Popular Piano and Keyboards by Neil Thomas to learn how to improvise and play lead sheets and independently. I did not get a teacher at any point. There is a lot of good stuff online. Just be disciplined with yourself and don't skip lessons if they're boring.
IMPRESIONANTE, ENHORABUENA!!
Ok lovely xx sleep nice x
May I ask, are you self-study or taking a course?
Excellent work 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
"oh, apparently i can" is definitely my favourite reocurring thought that i have when practising!
Hi, what is the book you practice?
Finally a honest 1 year progress piano video. Thanks
Hi. I’m using piano adventures too. Do you go trhough intire books one and two? Your performance is amazing.
6:56 Yes! Zanarkand is such a beautiful song, you nailed it too. Zanarkand inspired me to start playing
I'm not a "believer"....come on...
Wow! Very inspirational! I am just starting to learn to play the piano and you give me hope...thank you!
Wonderful Improvisation 🥰
Impressive man!
Thank you for inspiration :)
Well done, keep it up!
Nice improv. Why did you have book open though? :D
Haha! The book is always open 😆
Great progress Jorge, keep it up!
Thanks! I will try my best!
Are you still playing? How far are you in Piano adventures 2?
Yes, I am still playing, but no where near as much as I was in my first year. I stopped using Adult Piano Adventures at about half way. I might go back to it to brush up on the basics.
Hi . What online piano app were you using for your journey? Or where you going to a teacher once a week?
I used Piano Marvel for a little bit, mainly for sightreading. But I mostly learnt from books. I didn't have a teacher.
@@jorge_pianojournal , I have been teaching the piano for 20 or so years now and I have to say that clearly you have a natural gift in this area. The fact you are self taught and able to be self disciplined and consistent with practice is a true credit to you! I Hope you continue this passion on for a lifetime.
Hey man I know your not getting a lot of views and subs and stuff but you got this you'll become more popular I can feel it I love your videos keep going man <3
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it! I am still playing every now and again, but life has taken over and playing regularly has become tough, sadly.
Nicely done! I also learned “Where Is My Mind” in the first year, great song!
It's a great song, I love it! :D
Amazing
Beautiful.
Thank you!
I learnt this not long ago. It’s lovely! Reminded me a bit of Burgmüller’s Ava Maria :)
Yes it does! It's quite a tough little piece but I really do like it 😃
@@jorge_pianojournal there’s some lovely pieces in that album for the young. I’m working on the waltz now!
Wow amazing!! I have started a month ago, but without reading. Did you learn to read on your own or did a teacher help you? If you learned by yourself, which book did you start with?
I learnt to read on my own, but did a short online course on the notes on the staff. After that, I used Adult Piano Adventures by Faber.
@@jorge_pianojournal thank you!!
You're really good!
Thanks a lot! I appreciate that :)
Wonderfully played... thank u for sharing... I am a beginner too! Thank you! Subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you! Hope your piano journey goes well :)
@@jorge_pianojournal thank you
Your 1 year result equals my 3 years result. Good job.
Thanks! 😀
I'm not familiar with the piece but it tickled my ears in a fun way. Nice work :D
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! 😀
What book would you say is best for starting out?
I used Adult Piano Adventures by Faber. It was extremely helpful. Also learn scales, it's the most important thing you can do. I used Scales, Chords, Arpeggios and Cadences: Complete Book by Alfred.
@@jorge_pianojournal Thanks man, I appreciate it!
I took piano lessons for 6 years, starting at the age of 9, (that was 1959) and I still play. It's not uncommon to spend two or three hours a day on the keyboard. Of course it's a lot easier now that I'm retired. Trust me, sometimes it gets frustrating, but in the long-term it definitely is worth it. Hing in there.
