Symphony No 1 - 300 Subscriber Special!
#classicalcomposer #orchestralmusic #symphony
Two months of work to compose this full-length symphony for a 300 subscriber TH-cam special. The music starts off somberly but dignified as it gets int the main theme of the symphony as an unsettling scale quite chromatic that goes down and up. The tension and excitement builds until it explodes, yet unresolved and descends into darkness, a minor key and an interpretation of a christmas carol before it goes back into variations of the main theme. Suddenly everything is peaceful, and for a moment in all of the chaos there is peace, for within all the darkness there is light. The music climaxes happily before it resolves and the darkness settles, two instruments play and more join in for a very unsettling scale that resolves on a very tense G sharp note, in which that type of resolution will be seen in other movements. The music shifts into sadness, and then becomes more energetic, after the moderato in an almost fugue like section a more holy interpretation hints to a Christmas song. Then the music drops a piano dynamic that allows it to build to the climax where the music ends in a neutral C note.
For the second movement the music starts out very innocent like it was unaware of what went on in the first movement. A sweeping melody in the cellos accompanies the higher registers of tones in the woodwinds. As the fellow plays downwards scales, the music expands upwards. A theme is passed from the violins to the violas to the cellos and basses. Then the original theme plays going from darkness to light. The music ends on a sad and solemn note on a variation of the original theme of the 2nd movement.
The third movement is in 3/4ths time signature and is a much welcome waltz with a warm, nice, and refreshing long melody with harmonic accompaniment from the brass, strings, and woodwinds.
The music enters a jumpy and energetic and energetic phase before the whole orchestra joins in the play the melody. The melody is then deconstructed and contrasted with the 1st movement's main theme. the flute then has a wonderful solo as it transitions to a pizzicato version of the 3rd movements's main theme. The music then climaxes with the trumpet playing a high C and ends in C major.
Here is the long awaited final movement. It's fast and has a lot of energy and has a great rhythm started by the timpani all by itself. Notice in "in memoriam" taken from Beethoven's third symphony that Richard Strauss also references in his piece "Metamorphosen". AS the music accelerates to the really energetic peak, it uses the 16th notes and spacing to control and tamper the energy back down as a music composition orchestration strategy, as the music enters a slower pace. The music plays the 1st movement theme and then gets energetic again using instead of a G sharp but a G to resolve on one big long note, the string then tremolo quietly as it enters a tense section, the music accelerates with 16th notes, as it enters a fugue-like section, reusing most of the themes from the symphony, except from the 3rd movement. The music finally uses the a variation of the 1st movement theme as it ends in a triumphant manner.

why do you think this is wonderful? and intense?
Because other people said so, nevertheless thank you for listening to my music.
@@RaymondDoerr I see...Nice job. I would make the strings a little more expressive though
Excellent
Thank you so much for subscribing and listening to my music
You put a lot of work into this! I will venture a few comments to consider for your next round: color comes from the ww's and brass, not from the strings. So, score much less for the strings. Also, your best colors will come from solo instruments, so when you can, defer to a solo. There are a lot of passages here which the harp could join dovetails, and add percussive articulations to bring lines out. Why do you choose a Bb Trpt over the standard C type? From what I saw, the C would be more effective. Be really careful with your harmonic flow. If you are going to modulate, or tonicize, or even introduce some type of unexpected harmonic note, give the listener some type of forewarning. Surprises are good, but they should always be prepared beforehand. Your writing has a lot to offer, and you have a lot to say. Congratulations on the expansiveness of your work!
Thank you for the compliments and I am also looking into getting a better sound synthesizer to accurately reflect the tones and balance of the instruments and to fine tune the minute tempo variations and dynamics. Bb trumpet was what popped up but I need to study what is standard for orchestra. Could you kindly also explain what you mean by preparing the listener for harmonic transitions? Thank you so much for your interest in my music and it seems you have some great hobbies as well. Let’s talk if you are open to it at my alt email revelinmusic369@gmail.com
Whats the sound-set and the general setup you used to play this back?
I am using musescore 4 with its built in sound, but I am considering in investing in a professional grade VST called Cinematic Strings Studio etc.
yes!
Thanks
The first movement gives me a lot of feelings similar to Scriabin's symphonic works.
My favorite movement was the 4th, but that may just be because stylistically it is most similar to me.

No special at all except the first 5 note. That's what make us listening the melody. Yes you create it the book way. but listen and open your eyes nothing special. you just don't know that the book way is the mind of great composers, not because they do it you do it too, your not them they have different feeling, experience and life. copy them and your composition will be just nothing but a good copycat without excitement.
I had people who gave different commentary opposite to what you are saying… who are you and what is your musical background and did you listen to the whole piece of music?
m.youtube.com/@kitbobbiewacal5392/videos Is this your music? Why did you use an alt account?
@@RaymondDoerr it is good that you find my music, I don't have that account anymore that's why I created a new account, It's just I love classical music and I want to hear something new. That without any musical background. never went to classical school, I don't even play piano, violin or any instrument, all i can play is guitar. my grade in music when i was in high school is average. But I decided to do it and compose something for myself to listen. I don't compose for others to listen. I'm not saying your composition is bad it's perfect when it comes to book or any pattern that your using I don't know, It's just I'm done listening to copycats. Please create something with your imagination and we will be more than happy to listen, maybe your the next mozart or bach of our era. If you listened to my music, that is good music for me, You like it or not that is beautiful for me and I did it so I can listen to it if I like.
@@kitbobbiewacal2405maybe I am too influenced by other composers. I never really read music composition books or music theory books. I compose and write music because I like doing it and that is how it should be for everyone. Interesting music you wrote and sorry you lost your old TH-cam account.
THAT'S BECAUSE THE VIOLA HAS AN ALTO CLEF Either that or you have to take music theory.
Love when complete amateurs think they're smart by breaking a rule... without actually ever breaking it because they completely missed its purpose. Music education is so flawed.
Thank you for your commentary and insights
Nice music, Raymond. Enjoyed it very much.
Thank you so much!
Thrilling writing for orchestra Ray! I hope you get some good performances of this work! IMHO the harmonies in m13 in the strings that return at the end could happen even more! ALso, beautiful mock up, it really conveys the piece so well!

Don't know a lot about classical music except i like listening to it live. Would love to hear this performed live with a real orchestra or even just a few synth players. Very engaging. Well done
Nice
A solid composition with great thematic development! It's encouraging to me to see so many composers adopting a 'post-romantic' aesthetic (as Gary put it) and striving for real emotional depth in composition. Keep it up!
I wanted to not copy other composers and compose for myself and my ideals and through that, making a piece of music that my audience will enjoy. My goal is to eventually get one of my pieces fully played at a concert performance and not just a run through of it at university. Thank you for the compliment
@@RaymondDoerr Composing for yourself and your ideals is really the best way to do it. And we're fortunate to live in an age where, more than ever, people are open to music of virtually every style imaginable. Make what you most want to make, be driven by an absolute love for what you do, and people will eventually take notice and be drawn to it!
This music is unusual and reveals genuine talent. I know of very few contemporary composers who seriously delve into post-romanticism as an aesthetic. After Richard Strauss, one can count them on two or three hands (Korngold, Von Einem, Alwyn, Tison Street, Rochberg, Del Tredici, etc.). You have a flexible approach towards harmony, which makes your music stand out. Very few composers nowadays have any idea of how to modulate and tend to fixate on very limited harmonic palettes ("Little Jonny One-Chords" they are called). I think you're on to something here. Keep on going!
Wow this is so surprising to hear! It is great hearing this from an accomplished composer.

It feels like 3 songs playing at the same time, an unfortunate part of these sheet music softwares. Really well done, I can tell exactly what you were going for at some parts and then forgot exactly what you wanted and came up with something slightly different, and the pace really started to jump when it got to the top violin slowly going down the scale at higher successions. I'll note the segment. 1:00 - till the end. 1:05 at the next segment really adds a touch that I liked. I am a composer but it is not my title here, I just found this video by random. I really wish the song kept going, seemed like a rich well direction it was headed.
Thank you so much for the feedback.
