Karwaan : The Heritage Exploration Initiative
India
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 เม.ย. 2020
Karwaan: The Heritage Exploration Initiative is one of India's leading collectives of history students. Our mission is to make academic history and heritage accessible to the public, effectively bridging the gap between scholarly research and public history. Through innovative programs, interactive sessions, and engaging events, we bring historical narratives to life, ensuring we reach a wider audience. In a country where history is fading and efforts are made to construct a narrow identity, we're working to rekindle a genuine appreciation for India's rich cultural heritage, making history both educational and engaging for all.
Founded in 2019 by Eshan Sharma, the idea behind Karwaan is to promote the knowledge of history among young minds and the general public and inspire them to be inquisitive and committed to this field, as well as to make people understand the importance of heritage and history.

LONGLIST Announcement | Karwaan Book Awards 2024
The Karwaan Book Award is presented annually to recognize outstanding non-fiction works on the history of the Indian subcontinent. Awarded by a distinguished Jury, the prize aims to honor academic excellence while promoting historical understanding among the wider public. Established by Karwaan: The Heritage Exploration Initiative, the award celebrates recent research and publications across various facets of South Asian history.
The Karwaan Book Award is not only a celebration of intellectual achievement but also a tribute to the power of historical inquiry and the preservation of shared history. The shortlisted works highlight the dedication of authors in unraveling the complexities of our past.
As Prof. Romila Thapar, Chair of the 2022 Jury, notes, "The writing of history follows a method, and historians' work is judged by its application. Those assessing new publications should contribute to strengthening this process."
In 2023, the Karwaan Book Award was awarded to Everyday Islamic Law and the Making of Modern South Asia by Elizabeth Lhost.

My Heartiest Congratulations! To all the Awardees🎉🎉🎉
My Heartiest Congratulations! Prof Neeti Nair🎉
Wished for Prachi Deshpande's Scripts of Power: Writing, Language Practices, and Cultural History in Western India (Permanent Black, 2023) in this list!!
I always had wished to have captivating books especially for dry subjects. It all depends on a teacher and the book to indulge and create an interest in the subject. Authentic illustrations play a huge role in awareness.
this was so fun to listen to
Missed the initial portion of the talk. Will it be available on your youtube page later ? Request for the same.
Special Recommendation for Bhakts: "Nationalism as a Problem in the History of Political Ideas"
Ambedkar was believed in complete exchange of population during partition
Ambedkar was not the author of constitution, he was the head of drafting committee of constitution
Preamble which she had shown is not original but a destroyed one during emergency period
You both did a wonderful, superb job. I watched the film, thanks to you. 🙏🏻

Savarkar and Ambedkar were the greatest political thinkers of modern India. They were the most practical thinkers and both of them were sidelined by Gandhi and Nehru.
Sukant goel is great actor wish you happy birthday born in muzaffar nagar city best wishes u n ur beautiful family we are waiting ur beautiful family thanks 🙏

Whitewashing Auragazeb and his cruelties by liberals
Very engrossing
He exactly sounds javed akhtar
Very nice lecture ❤❤❤ Thanks a lot to speaker and Kaarwan..
Who has possession of the original manuscript please?
Thanks for sharing❤
He seems to know everything about everything...history, archaeology, philosophy. However, he has very little or no idea about the concepts and methods of archaeology. Someone as popular like him must refrain himself from representing all knowing individual. It's perhaps good for presentist need and his popularity. He also misrepresented Wingrow-Graebers idea as well as Upinder's arguments. He has talked selectively about some artefacts without having any idea about archaeological context and archaeological stratigraphy. I think these populist approaches are very harmful for the complexities of the past. I am not sure if Harrapan cultures, for him, are only confined to some cities or selective cities. Even his presentation on the monsoon is spurious too. I am sorry to say that Mr. Pattanaik must refrain from claiming something which he is not ware of.
I send some photos

Looks like Jainism was practiced way before Hindus came into existence….”large part of the populations are thinking otherwise.
Very Informative….Jains always believed that initial evidences are obtained during Harappa civilization. We should investigate further…Thanks for putting this thought that people should thibk from all dimensions.
Great ❤❤❤
Indeed ma'am I share your universalist sentiments but the irony is that the personification of something approaching such universalism was none other than - Dara Shukoh.
she thinks she can grind her masala on anyone's head.
She is a CONTRACT LIAR OF CONGRESS.
Deodat is a intelligent person. Very informative. Thank you.

The most tyrant and Cruel king was Chickaveerajendra Rajendra, responsible for death of thousands of Kodavas.. Through his minister Kunte Basava he inflicts maximum damage on the people of Coorg... Please read Masti's Chickaveerajendra kannada book for authentic version and our forefathers know the damage inflicted on us....

Bricks came from Central Asia? Tandoor came from central Asia? Quite rich how he is peddling islamic supremacy. What else do you expect from a Prashant Bhushan supporter
Kaalkacharya was jain monk who travelled outside India Charan munis capable of akashgochari vidhya too travelled outside india Not only that, Indian kings like haryanka Dynasty king shreniks son abhay kumar was friend with son of Babylonian king nebuchandezzars son who took Jain diksha. Nebuchandezzar contributed to jinnordhar of girnar teerth Probably devdutt ji does not know ancestry and history of Jainism which is very ancient and widespread
Please enlighten us. Eager to learn more about your scholarship.
@ksub5157 yeah Jains are Arya of their Arya khund and bharatkshetra karmabhoomi ( 1 Arya khund and 5 malech khund) in vast jambudweep, innermost dweep of madhyalok or middle realm of universe whose centre is mount meru or sumeru
@@ksub5157 even today jains make swastik gahuli patterns in jinalaya or derasar or chaityalay or devalaya during chaitya vandan Pooja Swastik, aum and crescent 🌙 moon sign with dot or star representing liberated soul or siddha atma or param Atman has deep associated meaning in Jainism Crescent moon sign with dot or star also seen in ancient Sumerian and Mesopotamia civilization and tamgha sign of mongol before their conversion to Islam It's jina tatva or shiv tatva or sohum or tatva massi concept th-cam.com/video/Gez13THaw1M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vgx6nbBHHjGMsdjc

No coincidence that someone who advocated Prashant Bhushan's FoE earlier in the video, was caught trying to gloss over the fact that properties of muslims who left for Pakistan were taken not by the government but by Waqf boards, unlike in Pakistan were all Hindu and Sikh properties grabbed by muslims as enemy property
Two nation theory mischievously attributed to Savarkar is integral to maintream prescriptive muslim doctrine of Dar ul Harb. In India it was propounded by Ahmed Sirhindi Nakshbandi and later by Shah Waliullah from where Syed Ahmed Khan picked this up. Savarkar's reference was only descriptive of the muslim viewpoint not prescriptive
Very knowledgeable session.. It was very informative.. Thanks a lot to speaker n organizer ❤❤❤❤
What is the difference between biriani and Pulao
The topic is amazing. BUT...... Why is she reading from a note? That is so off-putting!! If she has written it herself, can't she talk directly to it extempore? The reading sounds too wordy, heavy, and, quite frankly, boring. Pics are nice for sure. I do not enjoy these professors giving lectures while standing with all their weight on the written text cane. Gives me the creeps, and reminds me of the awful college days when we had to take down notes as the lecturers spoke from written text. When presenting material like this, I would prefer the speaker hold the attention of their audience using their own excitement with the material.
