When doing puzzle 3 by Richard Stolk, I don't understand why, in 1:47:39, number 5 can't go in R5c1. Can someone help?

just speaking for myself but unfortunately the 3D graphics don't lend themselves to watchability if that makes sense. i solved the puzzles myself first and while it was kind of confusing at times (especially with the sphere) knowing where you are looking and turning the puzzle accordingly makes sense. watching someone else and trying to follow the thoughtprocess while the cells are shifting around is wildly confusing and if the puzzles+geometry get more complicated might be near impossible to follow. maybe it's just not for me :D oh btw for the spheres i just colored two opposing dots on the same plane and the "perpendicular" version of those dots which gives 3 colored sets of 2 numbers each and then use the kropki dots to solve it accordingly

Hi Zetamath. I've been wacthing Cracking the Crytic for a good 3 months now on a daily basis now. And I came across this reaction video, or rather stream to be more percise, To this puzzle that Simon has conquered. (Dovetail) I watched Simon's video first, than later, I came across your reaction to this very same video I watched the hours later. So, I watched your video to see your reaction. Well to say the least, I was intrigued in this.. I had even watched a few more video's (or streams) with you reacting to Simon on completing a puzzle you had set in the past. I have to give credit to Simon for not getting any help. I truly think he is a brilliaint solver without any help. He may take the long way around... But he gets there. I love how he explains things in such a way... In such a way I can see you saying in this stream that you may come up with another puzzle..lol Anyway, the main reason I am writing you, I've never set a puzvle before, But I have a concept, an idea, that I've never seen in any solves and/or rules even for that matter. I will not share them here now. But my question is, How do I even begn to set up puzzles in the first place? I'm sure you have tips in puzzle setting? Where do I begin in this journey? Where do I start? My main question is on a basic mode, what are the limitations in creating a puzzle? I have recognized Jay Dyer and a couple of other names in setters on you stream live chat. I subcribed to you an put the bells on. But where do I begin in this quest??? I am sure there is people in your community that can help me in this idea that I have. But I would lovev to here you thoughts... I will not offer my thoughts publicly in a thread such as this. (sorry) I hae googled on where to begin... But nothing came up for me to set a puzzle for a variant suoku. Anyway... I hope you have a greaat day, and most of all I hope this message sees you well. :D

I loved this puzzle actually, I really do. But next time please just organize the rules better. Separating each type with a bullet point would've made it easier to read

I didn't learn of this until after I finished the puzzle and watched Simon. By then, it was way too late to participate. I needed Simon's help for the break-in. I needed to be put on notice of the "secret" and the cell that saw the entire blue line. Then again, ruling out the 9 in favor of the 3. IIRC, afterwards, I made some headway, then got stuck -- where Simon got stuck in the video. 30:10 IIRC again, it didn't take either Simon or myself long to figure out the pattern of yellow-12 on the gray line, although it took me a bit longer to show that 12 dangled down in block 6. 39:00 16 vs. 25 on that three-cell segment: I didn't resolve it until much later. But 12 helped with the gray line. (Can't recall how, right now.) 47:10 I wonder if Maverick deliberately flies by when Simon records a video. And that's where I got stuck. 1:02:40 At this point, one may notice that 3 in block 8 is forced onto the red line. The other digit, being even, is somewhat constrained.

I don't k ow if the software would allow it, but another way to make the lines distinct is to use variations of dotted and dashed lines. At a time when printers would only print in black and white, we had to use dots and dashes (and short or long dashes and other variations).

Really liked the break in for this one, great work Zetamath and friends!

I've said it many times. Simon will stubbornly ignore the implication of a given digit if he can use the square root of -1 to solve Fermat's last theorem to get the same result. It makes me laugh and drives me mad in equal measure.

I love the setting streams and long videos. Unfortunately I had to run to the store during the last half hour but I watched it after I got back. I look forward to seeing if it actually works all the way through and if not, to seeing what changes get made. As far as the opposite of Elven squares I would say Fairy circles.

puzzle 14 took me 155min. It was very painful

Thank you for the solve. Different path than I expected, which is always fun. (The renbans in box 1 and box 2 force there to be exactly a 3 different between the value of r1c2 and r2c2.)

As soon as I saw this on CTC, I assumed it was a given that the diagonal bit of the 10 line was going to be a 5-5 😅

I absolutely adored this puzzle, very nifty progressions across the boxes. Watching Simon's solve afterward, he had some of the identical reactions when recognizing your particular style in several segments. This puzzle wasn't exactly hard, but without knowing your style it would have been much harder. Very well done, as always.

What I found remarkably pretty about this puzzle is that the solve path slowly converged upon box 9 diagonally from box 1. The pencil marking and solving remained so clean throughout the entire puzzle.

Simon has stated in a previous video that he does not use a number pad and never has. I love these reaction videos! I would love to see Simon react to one of them.

Zetamath! You are one of my favorite puzzle creators. I search your puzzles on a daily basis. After completing this puzzle, it was rewarding to watch this stream replay. It is so fascinating that your audience will challenge you in ways that maybe you haven't thought of quite yet while you are creating your puzzles. Cheers, and thank you for all of your puzzles! There's a number of solve paths for Gale Force. One that's quite surprising is if you start by colouring R1C1, R2C2 and R3C1 in one colour (eg green), and R1C2, R2C1 and R3C2 in a second colour (eg blue) then seeing how far you can get just by using the sudoku and anti-knight rules.

Scared me a little that you were going to completely miss the nice logic with the L and Y by miscounting row 4, but I appreciate stepping back when chat caught it. I'm especially glad you found the elegant way of resolving both the bottom left quadrant and the bottom right finale. :D

Hi i found you because of your videos about the riemann hypothesis! i have a new idea for a sudoku you can set. normal sudoku rules apply. place numbers so that equations are correct. equations are made up of one of 4 operators -, +, /, *, and an operator is always used. the = is not shown. An equation consists of one and only one operator, not accounting for =. Equations go in a straight path. Not every number is part of an equation; for example 63(+)25 is correct because you can just ignore the 6. By far not every possible operator is given. I tried setting it but it is very hard and mathemathical but maybe you can do it. Hope you set it!! (If you like the idea and if its even original)

Hey thanks for solving my sudoku. 1:22:55 I like to include a step in each fog sudoku where you place a digit right in the middle of the fog and granted this one starts off with a fully fogged grid, so all of the first digits kind of do that already, but that's not what I mean by that. When I saw that a killer cage would force a digit in the middle of a fogged area then I knew it was an opportunity I had to use, that was the main reason for having that 43 killer cage. I love the brief doubt and uncertainty in your facial expression after discovering that this is what it does.

I spent much time yelling at Simon on the screen for ignoring the blatantly obvious 23 pair in column 9 that would have cleared up a bunch of stuff. Unfortunately Simon tends to mostly scan horizontally, not vertically, and using the blue background probably did make one of the 23 squares invisible.

first time i solved it i was an idiot, so i put 7 and 3 on a whisper so i substituted 3 for 2 in a bunch of cells, ended up thinking you made a mistake and the puzzel had multiple solutions :P that was silly, the break in was pretty cool, the nabner is common to column 3 and row 1 outside box 1. nice break in , didnt make my silly mistake until much later so it didn't spoil the break in which was nice.
