Lets dig with Krafty: Cat grade infield design setup
Video on how I set up my GPS to dig house cuts. To my knowledge the exact same process applies to Trimble earthworks as they are a pretty similar system.

    So am I supposed to keep the paint line in center of tracks or bucket

    • @jaydenkraft
      @jaydenkraft 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The paint line comes down to operator preference. But generally I would have the paint line as my cut line, therefore I would follow the paint line with the outside edge of my bucket. Some people prefer to paint the line in the centre to help with tracking backward but as long as your cab is square with the tracks, when you turn around to follow your line you shouldn’t have any issues. Hope that makes sense 👍🏽

    Hey mate great vid. Do you go full noise when your trimming

    • @jaydenkraft
      @jaydenkraft 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I wouldn’t say full noise because you’re final trimming meaning you’re meant to keep some tight tolerances but at the same time I don’t stuff around either if that makes sense. In final trimming the speed comes naturally with experience and you only become more efficient the more you do

    Mate... these vids of yours are QUALITY...! Hugely apppreciate your time and effort in sharing your skill and obvious experience! Helping many of us newbies gain some much needed idea on simple yet damn powerful processes! Can't wait for more content on varied situations! I have a CAT 308E2 and am getting the nerve up to start making a 200m+ 2WD access track up a 20 to 50' grassy slope on my property (in a rainforest valley, luckily hills are predominantly clay under lush topsoil, with floating sandstone here and there)... I think mastering the cut with a consistent quality as to what drainage it will need will be my main worry..! As there is at least 2 to 3 watercourses I will need to take the track through, not to mention one huge blue-gum I hope to get the track above but may have to go below to keep it 2WD... All the compounding varibles! And no idea yet of the needed design! Anyway - thanks again for sharing and doing what you are! Helps us newbies out HUGELY!

    Wow bro haven’t seen trimming like that before, I’m a combo operator digging out boxes for patches on road works in Queensland, I’m trying to get good at trimming efficiently with a nice finish but it’s hard when the supervisor is hounding you to get it done and settles for a half assed job

    GPS has made operating most heavy equipment much easier than back in the day, but I still like having all the surveying experience in my computer/brain so I can problem solve on the fly :) And that swivel bucket is pretty nice too but the times I thought it would be really handy is on sloped ground so I didn't have to level off the machine. Just run the bucket level and not bother ramping up one track to level off?

    • @jaydenkraft
      @jaydenkraft ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah mate, the machines come with a modem in them that you put a SIM card in to which runs off satellites (same as a mobile phone pretty much). We never use base stations although a base station is generally better off for accuracy etc

    Just a question, because your stripping off the sod\grass why does it matter to have the machine level, it just seems like your lifting everything twice, forgive me for my ignorance but just trying to learn mate Thank you

    • @jaydenkraft
      @jaydenkraft ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the situation really. At the start I mention I’m sitting on a 14 percent incline so it was quite an aggressive slope. If you have a machine digging side ways on a hill that steep, it puts a lot of unnecessary pressure on your slew motor and will give you one hell of a sore back at the end of the day! Every situation is different though and if it was only a minimal slope I wouldn’t bother packing the track but in this instance I think it’s another helpful tip to apply if you’re in the same situation 👍🏽

    • @jaydenkraft
      @jaydenkraft ปีที่แล้ว

      Grader blade would achieve the same result mate, most likely even faster just depends on the amount of material you’re pushing out. Take smaller bites to put less strain on the gear and you’d be sweet
