At its core, the anime is bad because the LN is bad. As an isekai, it's bad because every moment we are about to be immersed and committed to the world, Ainz and Co. steamroll everything. All the chapters and paragraphs spent worldbuilding and seeing their reaction to Aiz and Co. don't amount to anything when the outcome has already been decided from the start. As a basic shounen LN, it's bad because there is nothing reflected on the main character and cast; they don't really grow in any way except to become more obsessed with Ainz. You never get the "overlord" vibe because he comes off as nothing more than a pretender on the throne that complacently lets evil happen under his watch (and the worst part is that there is no effort to explain why he doesn't care). Ainz had a lot of potential because his Earth isn't even close to our Earth; his Earth is a hellscape of smog and pollution, and his parents died overworking themselves for one of the few megacorps left standing. There was a lot of potential there to explain why he acts with less empathy, why he's overly cautious and unfamiliar with power, what suddenly gaining all that power would do to him and his psyche...but it really goes nowhere because none of this is explained until far too late into the LN. And that reflects onto the manga and anime as well; nobody cares about Ainz despite him being the main character. Nobody even cares to know his motivations. SAO should have been the exception in a sea of other LNs; it was a web-novel that got rushed into publication (at which point it was already becoming unfurled by publishers forcing in the harem dynamic) and then that LN got rushed into becoming an anime. And the author already recognized the shortcomings of the series enough for him to want to do a rewrite from Asuna's perspective and make it less shounen-slop. SAO's story has become all the better for it since it retcons a lot of the older writing and fleshes out Kirito and Asuna. But that's the BEST case scenario for a hastily-written shounen LN from the 2010s. Overlord is the WORST case for an LN's adaptation: Maruyama keeps trucking along and tries to plug all the glaring holes in his writing far too late down the line. Why even bother getting Ainz into a character development arc at Volume 14 with the elves? No rewrites, no revisions, none of that happen. And so every mistake made in the LN's production bleeds into the manga and anime adaptations. I'm just surprised Kadokawa and Madhouse even bother to continue with it after the lizard-people arc.

Also in that one dream trial where subaru meets enchidna in the class room and he says she looks amazin in that outfit and she laughs saying something like she got it from his memories so if shes able to read his mind and knows what kind of girls he likes possibly satella can to . I assumed he had a contract with her stemming from ghe witches party when they were all there . I heard in the LN that the person must accept satella before they can see her face which is why when subaru denied enchidna during the party because he said she was lying on satella the. She pops up and he gives her his hand saying he was going to save her as if they had a 🤝. After that interaction you finally see her face for the first time

The thing is Al has an affinity to Earth magic when Suburu does not. That is evidence against this theory. Al and Flugel however both prefer to work in secrecy so it is possible that Al somehow ended up in the future with lost memories of being flugel or he lived this entire time but lost his memories. Pandora could have done either. Do we know Flugel’s magic affinity?
