    #saludos. I think the reason she's blasting his thigh is to help her escape while damaging one of his weapons. #gunting aka limb destruction is an important part of #arnis and any good kung fu really, but yes, I think this video needs a little bit more explanation. Is she going to the thigh to slow his pursuit? Personally I think his solar plexus and groin is right there, maybe she's using the thigh as a training point so she doesn't have to train hitting him in the cup. If a shorter fighter, I'd go low then explode up to the chin.

    Although the tutorials were explained well enough, this video would've and could've been even better had there been a colleague playing the roll of assailant. One last thing, you didn't credit Geoff Thompson, the creator of "the fence" concept.

    no offence, but this and other bullshit martial arts are fake, wing chun, kempo, karate, kung fu. those are all fake. only works in movies. you want real self defense take either boxing, muay thai, wrestling, or MMA. non of this bullshit. when you were putting up your hands in a fist form, your whole body and face was open. what were you trying to do, protect the air in front of your face??

    I not saying that match fighting is the same as street, and fenting could be used in the street but that depends on the range. Kenpo is complicated but alot of people read to much into things about the system. brutal aggression will win the day if you use accuracy and power, speed will nollify your power no one has ever been gorged by a butterfly. I like to think of Kenpo as a two hit system you hit him he hits the ground can't get anymore simpler than that.

  • @FrankieBlueEyes
    @FrankieBlueEyes 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Rich, thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying about set ups and feints but I think that applies more in a "match fight" type situation. When dealing with the "assault"/guy in your face type situations, feints are usually not necassary due to distance, especially if you are reacting and are countering. I think kempoists (which I am one) tend to make things more complicated than they really are. Fighting is hard but its not complicated. Often, fast, brutal aggression wins the day.

    If he did not cover or block I would hit him again, I think anyone would. I had enough fights in the ring to know that you need to setup your opponent by faking, fenting or changing up the zones your striking to start breaking down your opponents defense. The "Kenpo Rules" are taught to the student in the dojo to give them a foundation to work on in their training, so when the fight happens in the real world they can defend themselves. Modification of these rules would only undermine this.

  • @FrankieBlueEyes
    @FrankieBlueEyes 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    So if i hit the guy in the head, and he doesn't cover or block, I should stop hitting him in the head and strike a different body part? Not speaking to this technique but I think that's one more of those "kenpo rules" that might make sense in the dojo but has little basis in reality. I have seen & been in enough fights, real and in the ring, where repeated shots to the same area ended the fight, usually the head. I have also seen repeated body shots down guys. That rule might need modification.

      I don't think they really explained that well lol... I am a kenpoist myself... What i think she should have said is this.... Do NOT hit the same target repeatedly.... Meaning; DO NOT keep attacking the same spot/same strike and don't get tunnel vision on it....if he's a decent fighter, an you do that shit too much? Your opponent will notice, and that could potentially get you killed... In kenpo? (All other kenpo practitioners' thoughts of at least a purple belt or higher) If you ain't kickin' someone in the dick, breaking their leg, or hitting them in the throat with a waiter's tray/bridge hand by the THIRD STRIKE? YOU DOIN' IT WRONG!! 😂😂😂

    • @chromecannon2536
      @chromecannon2536 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they're referring more to the bodies reaction to being hit in multiple locations. The body will divert resources to heal a location but will be overwhelmed if struck in rapid succession in multiple locations. #rulesaremeanttobebroken of course but look at the "Manliest fight of all time" they both punch each other repeatedly in the head, if they'd spread their shots all over the fight might have been completely different, much shorter and more humane. Yes, I love the use of the word humane in martial arts, I think many situations requiring force can and should still be humane. Knocked out in one punch, not dragged through the streets with multiple broken bones. Again, the exception to the rule exists, pedophiles for example. Dragged and dragged some more. #mcduffyskajukenbo #inglewood #saludos. Good dialogue.

    fences are great but your fence is a little too much like a fighting stance. it needs to look more natural. i recommend a slightly narrower stance and keep your palms facing the aggressor but moving (talking hands) as you try to de-escalate. peace
