Watchtower - Instruments of Random Murder (Bass Cover)
I've been wanting to redo this one for a while, as it was one of my favorite picks from the earlier videos I did, and I knew I could do a bit more of a polished job of it. I'm gonna keep my blabbering brief, because you all have heard me talk about this tune before plenty.
Huge thanks to the bass master Tony Choy for requesting me to do this one, and for not only putting me in the same conversation as Doug Keyser's amazing work, but also seeing the stylistic correlation between my playing and the music of Watchtower. Indeed, they're an enormous inspiration to me, as I know they are to Tony's music and several of the legendary groups he worked with.
As always, I tried to get things as accurate as my ear could get it. I especially love those little timing variations between the two instances of the chorus! The way Doug and Rick Colaluca gel is absolutely insane, with details like that. So precise. It makes Doug's stuff a dream to play along to because of the incredibly articulate style of it.
I hope someone gets enjoyment out of this one! I really practiced up to nail it much harder than I originally did.
Huge respect for Watchtower! If you're not familiar with Control and Resistance, listen to it NOW!

Flotsam and Jetsam - Escape from Within (Bass Cover)
มุมมอง 26114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Finally got some new strings on this bass, so I wanted to video this piece I've been working on for a while. I've never done a cover of a Flotsam and Jetsam song before, which is ironic, because they've had so many of the best bassists to ever play metal, and they're almost all fingerstyle players, which makes it even more appealing to cover their music, as it is essentially tailored to my pers...

It's officially spooky season, (yes, mid-September-ish counts) so it was time for me to tackle some music by the official band of the season, King Diamond. It's my first time ever really posting a King Diamond/Mercyful Fate song, and this one is one that always left an impression on me, so it was the pick. I think the KD records after this one really miss the creative bass playing of Timi Hanse...

It's been a minute since I did one of these, and I went with an impulsive choice that was a song I happened to really be feeling as of late - this is the 1990 demo version of An Incarnation's Dream, featuring the bass mastery of Roger Patterson. It all really speaks for itself, it's no secret this is what I love, but there are a lot of great things worth mentioning. I've never seen anyone cover...

Awesome! 👍 Great playing and sound! And also great choice of song. One of my favorite from this band, and surely one of my favorite on the No Place For Disgrace album, together with Misguided Fortune and the title track (that, maybe, sooner or later I will cover... or maybe not... I keep postponing it! 😆). All the album is great, in truth! Both that one and also their debut Doomsday For The Deceiver. I remember that I have seen them in concert, back in 1988, and in truth they were not even expected to be there! They replaced Nuclear Assault (that were written on the ticket, but not present), and even though I like Nuclear Assault too, I was even more satisfied of the exchange! ...one of my friends, great fan of Nuclear Assault, was much less satisfied in truth... 🤬 Bravo again! Would love to hear a cover of Misguided Fortune! Definitely one of the best on the album, and my favorite guitar solo on the album too. I almost did a cover of the title track, but I felt this one had some more variation in the bass parts that would make it more interesting for someone to watch and figure out what is going on. Thanks so much for the kind words! Nuclear Assault is a great band, a favorite of mine, but I do prefer Flotz. And the end Flotsam had much more longevity in their career. So many great records. And their bassists are impossible to deny.

I totally agree with what you wrote about Timi Hansen in the description (oh, by the way, the power chords you added fit well). Very skilled bassist! I have always appreciated him. Mercyful Fate is one of my favorite HM bands since mid 80's. I have made some bass covers of theirs on my channel (one is Satan's Fall! 😬).
