2nd Gen Sequoia Switch Plate Mod
I needed an option to add more switches to my 2014 Platinum model that already had all existing switch holes occupied. This is an easy mod using a stock part you already have to add more switches to your 2nd Gen. Sequoia & keep it factory looking. These are the part numbers for the items I purchased:
* Base Switch Hole No. 2 (the three panel plate): 55447-0C011 (need 2...or just 1 if you want to put it in between the two existing ports)
* Lower Dash Bezel w/ Cubby: 55434-0C020 (you only need this if you want to keep your existing one intact)
Once I cut out the rectangular part of the lower dash to make room for the switch panels, I did have to sand down the inside on both sides to get rid of the radius curve so the panels would fit snuggly. I did a little sanding at a time until the fit was good, and then I epoxied everything together.
I ordered the switch plates from here: www.oemgenuineparts.com/oem-parts/toyota-switch-bezel-554470c011
The cubby I bought used off eBay.

This is the iJDMTOY Smoked LED Center High Mount Brake Light that I installed on my '14 Sequoia to match the OEM '18-'22 MY smoked tail lights that I installed awhile back. Fit and finish are nice, and it's a breeze to install. It also has an option to wire it up as a running light, but I did not do that. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DQ33YZS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1
Headliner Leak 2nd Gen Sequoia - Sunroof Drain Locations
มุมมอง 4Kปีที่แล้ว
My '14 Platinum started having a leak from the driver's side headliner near the "B" pillar area after heavy rains, so I decided to tackle the job of finding it. Most people say that the leak is from a clogged sunroof drain, but mine turned out to be a very odd source. This video will help you troubleshoot this problem and show you how to take the headliner down partially.

For 2nd Gen. Sequoia Platinum owners, the lack of USB power ports in the second and third rows can create a mess of wires trying to run them from the front or rear 12V outlets. I decided to add them in the 2nd row center console so they'd be discreet & also prevent tripping over wires. Hey, I removed my water pump the other day and noticed the weep hole you pointed out but also another hole that appears to be a weep hole also. It is kinda hidden in a small cavity. Mine appeared to have dried up coolant around there. I'm wondering if you noticed that other hole? Thank You

      No I haven’t, but I have seen the problem with other owners. Most of them find the fabric and replace it themselves. There are some good YT videos on the process. If you’re on Facebook, join the “Toyota Sequoia 2nd Generation” group. A few people have done this in that group, too.

    Curious if this resolved all the leaking issues? I recently found soaked padding from the hatch/trunk area all the way to behind the driver's seat. Nothing on the passenger side. I've pulled all seats and carpeting (to dry out the padding) and went through the car wash several times to see if I can find any ingress. I haven't dropped the headliner, but reaching in at all four corners, it's completely dry. I suspect it's coming in via the hatch area, or through the floor. It's quite frustrating. With the driver's side paneling removed (b & c pillars) I found the pink/orange drain tube for the rear corner of the sunroof, I pulled it out of the port at the rear fender from inside the cab. The end of the tube has 45° cut on it to get it into the mating rubber boot that comes out at the fender. Blowing into it by mouth offered quite a bit of resistance. It certainly wasn't free flowing - probably on order of a drinking straw. Just curious if that's how yours was. haven't hooked up a compressor to it, or attempted to add water from the roof yet.

    • @hoopin4you

      Yes, I have not had any more leaks since that "fix". I also put some black RTV around my XM radio antenna because there was a slight gap around it. If you have the XM antenna, check out that seal and see if you have a gap.

    • @erkme73
      @erkme73 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I guess you don't have a definitive cause on yours - other than that it wasn't a clogged drain. I'm going to soak the vehicle with my 200gpm fire pump while sitting inside with a flashlight. I really hope it's not in the ceiling as the thought of pulling the headliner is daunting, to say the least. Incidentally, did you find any of the white plastic support/spacers loose? I've had two already separate from the headliner and create a tapping noise as they bounced when I hit bumps. I was able to pull enough of the liner down to reach in and remove them. I don't know how many there are in total, or whether you have all of yours still firmly attached. I have a 2011 Limited. Thanks. Subbed. @@hoopin4you

    • @hoopin4you
      @hoopin4you 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@erkme73 At around the 19:00 minute mark, I show what the cause of my leak was...someone drilled through 2 of the 4 rivets on that metal crossmember. All four of my drain tubes were clear with no obstructions, so that's what prompted me to pull the headliner down for a closer inspection. I can't remember if any of those plastic trays were loose, but it is a known issue in the 2nd Gens. Most people just pull them out. I think they're just for routing wiring up there.

    • @erkme73
      @erkme73 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hoopin4you I guess I missed that. I saw the RTV, but figured you were just being thorough. I installed a lightbar on min a couple years ago, and had to drill two holes in the gutter just ahead of the front stock luggage rack mounts. I'd already done it on my Tundra years prior to that, so felt confident that I wouldn't get any leaks from it. It was during those installations that I got a pretty good understanding of the mechanics between the interior and exterior roof construction at those locations. What I don't quite understand is on the rivets that you found drilled out, did they actually penetrate the roof on the outside? I would think that those rivets simply held the interior roof/ceiling beams together, but neither side went to the outside. IOW, did the previous owner drill through the roof? You said you were going to blow it out to dry it before RTVing, did you find water in that space? Very curious as to how those holes interfaced with the exterior. Incidentally, the rivnuts (rivet-nut) I used to install the lightbar brackets on both the Tundy and Sequoia have held just fine - zero leaks there. I can access the underside of both sides easily by just pulling the headliner down in those areas.

    • @hoopin4you
      @hoopin4you 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@erkme73 No, there were no visible holes in the outside roof. I think those rivets are probably in the sun roof water track that goes to the back drain tubes. Once I poured more water in that track, then I saw where it was dripping from. I love rivnuts...so handy to use and they do seal really well. On my '87 R10, I installed a 3-row aluminum radiator & converted to dual electric fans. I used rivnuts in the aluminum fan shroud to reconnect stock hose brackets...worked like a champ. I want to install lightbars on the Sequoia (and maybe my wife's Tundra...she doesn't really think she needs one). But usually when she sees the mods I do on my Sequoia, then she becomes a believer. 🙂 I upgraded my headlights to VLAND full LED assemblies with iJDMTOY LED fogs, and when she drove it at night & saw the difference from the stock halogens, that was all the convincing she needed to install them on hers.

    Great video. I have a 2013 Platinum and had some water intrusion last week during Hurricane Idalia. Some by rear hatch, some 2nd row passenger floor, and some rear interior lamp/headliner area. Found a few missing plugs and a few clips and failed caulk in hatch area and a missing plug in 2nd row passenger pillar where water would drain between door and body. Next step is to check sunroof drains, XM antenna, and other roof penetration to see how it got up into headliner area. Thanks for the video! Great job.

      @hoopin4you 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I also saw the gap for the XM antenna and sealed that up with some black RTV. I couldn't reach the nut for it without bringing the headliner down in the rear (and I didn't want to create more work for myself). Hopefully you get everything figured out & fared well through the storm.

      Ran into the same thing with XM antenna. Pulled the lamp down, thinking it was right over top and I’d have access to the nut. Of course I didn’t. I did wind up putting some white silicone around spoiler light penetration as the foam weatherstrip they used was shot. Need to get some black for the XM antenna. Good idea.

      I'm not sure, but it was only the mufflers that were for the Yamaha...the Roadhouse head pipes were for the VTX 1300. The Part # on the box for the Yamaha Dooley mufflers was 50-1038.

      @@radicalcjd Yeah, I saw where he pulled them from his site. I recently saw someone on one of our VTX Facebook groups post that they had a bad experience with the duals from SLK. The guy said the quality was awful, and that SLK will not return his calls. That's a shame. The only other way to get duals is to make them yourself or get someone local to you to make them.

    Just curious... if you just needed to replace the clutch, what was the reason you stripped the entire primary drive? Changing the oil pump drive chain would be a reason but you didn’t plan on that originally. It was very informative to observe everything you did however.

      When I felt the slack in the chain, I had no idea if it was normal and couldn't find an answer online on the forums or elsewhere. So I figured I'd go ahead and replace it for good measure while I had it open already.

    The oil pump chain will have slack, just like on a chain saw or drive chain. It tightens up during load. If the chain is too tight, it will stretch I believe. Great video series. Very helpful for when I go to replace my clutch pack. I should probably change out the oil pump drive chain like you did since you have it apart.
