I have the same problem. I think the problem is in the gears of the start engine system, not in the start clutch. More specifically on the axle of one of the gears. I'm gonna try machining a new one this week. I'll post the results.
Hey Derrick! i have been having the same problem. Have you figured out what your problem was eventually? I took out my starter motor and checked everything. So far it looks fine. I replaced my battery, oil, oil filter and my spark plugs, and i just don't know what to do with it.

Very interesting... I have the same. Change battery, spark, rectifier but nothing. One day working perfect the other does not start...
