Amicalola Falls Drive To The Top
Updated Video of the drive up to the top of Amicalola Falls, The Lodge and Campground. It's kinda steep for people towing big trailers but not impossible. So we wanted to create a video for our fellow campers to show them the 18-25% grades on the way up.
The video ends in the parking lot for the top of the falls, the Campground is down the road on the left of that parking lot. The Lodge at Amicalola is straight ahead at that intersection.
Hope this helps to ease your mind and give you an idea of what the towing looks like to the Campground.

Teardrop Towing the Grady Curve, Atlanta Downtown Connector

Towing our Silver Shadow teardrop trailer LOLA down the Atlanta Downtown Connector to head out to Lake Lanier for the weekend. We take the connector for most trips and time our departure to avoid traffic as much as possible.

Our first trip to River's End Campground and seeing the sights on Tybee Island. Great campground and great showers/bathrooms as they are private rooms. The restaurants are great on the island, Sundae Cafe is a must have dinner on Tybee. The world famous Breakfast Club has no competition, worth the wait.

This video records the reflections on the side of our new Teardrop trailer. It is an uncut unedited video of the drive from the entrance of the park to the campground. 18-25% Grade roads leading to the Campground above Amicalola Falls State Park. Short drive but steep, our Honda Element pulling the Teardrop Trailer to a very good Campground. Dark sky camping at its best.

Thanks for the good quality video! We're looking at heading to Amiclola with a 30 foot trailer behind our F250 diesel, seems like it shouldn't have any trouble with the grade but having never towed up a mountain before I'm watching these videos to get some idea of what it might be like.
Thanks for the vid. We are going up there next month in a 33 Ft Class C flat towing a Jeep Rubicon Wrangler 4DR. I was thinking about taking the Jeep off the tow rig in the visitor center's parking lot and having my wife drive up behind me. You think that would be necessary?
There is a large pull off right before the visitor's center, it's where this video starts th-cam.com/video/B9FC1etqkOo/w-d-xo.html This will make it easy to unhook and not have to backtrack from the visitor's center, which will be packed most likely. If it were me, I would unhook due to the length grade. I have never towed with a super C.
Thank you for your video. We are planning on a trip up there soon towing a 31ft 5th with a 3/4 ton truck. We are slightly concerned with the incline ourselves.
You all will be alright. Keep it in low when you get to the hill 1:10 min mark and just go slow. The first time we towed up there was a teardrop and a Honda Element with a 4 cyl. Pulled fine in low.

how much is a campsite for a small van? How is it right now in mid October? If no availability, any way to boondock? I don't need electric or water.
I believe that sites are $35 a night and they all have water and electric. It's a mixed tent/camper campground. I am not real sure of any boondocking areas near by, but I believe you can find them outside the park.

you should invest in a stabilizer for your camera. I found this good content but difficult to watch because of the constantly moving camera. Thx! And Good luck. bg
I couldn’t of been happier with how the Mavic preformed in the snow! The mechanics works just as well as they normally do, but where I was impressed was the footage. Shooting in 4K on a flat profile gave me a lot of flexibility in post to reduce the glare on the snow, but not lose the blacks. Check out the last video I posted.

is that the drive up to the tent sites ? I saw mostly travel trailers.
The campground is mixed tent and trailer. All sites have water and electric.
Mich Law thanks. I was uncertain. it doesn't look very steep but there is a notice on their website site map about the grade percentage my eyes won't let me easily read.
The steepest part of the drive starts around 1:10 on the video and goes until around the 2:30 mark. The wide angle of the go pro does not do the 18-25% grade justice. It's steep but not as bad as some mountain roads. Its just a long gradual climb in that area.
Mich Law ouch. I don't think my little 4 cylinder car can do that. There is an 8 % grade near me I can do.

LOLA is a 2014 Limited Edition Silver shadow. She is black and gray.
The campground sits on the top of the mountain, above the lodge. There are not a lot of lights in the campground, so it is a good place to observe the night sky.
Chattahoochee Bend State Park is hard to get into because it is far off the highway, but it is a very nice campground. I think it is worth the trip. They have several camping areas that are based on what type of camping you are doing.
The park is one of the newest in Georgia. It was completed in 2011. It is located about an hour south of Atlanta.
