Driving a Triumph TR4 in the English springtime

It was a gorgeous spring day, so I took advantage of the weather to take the TR for a spin and try out my new camera. I would have liked to have left the music off and just had the sound of the engine and exhaust, but the wind noise virtually drowned out any noise from my car.

JOHN PEEL. The all - time best car programme presenter!
Hillary flew both Blenheim and Beaufighter night fighters. The Blenheim he flew was a night fighter version with four 0.303 guns in a belly pack and no bombs. He preferred the Beaufighter as it had lighter controls. Also, there is no such thing as a 'bacterial virus.' Wound infections are caused only by bacteria.
7:10 Very good film i remember seeing it when it was first screened in 1999 or 2000 i think. So many remarkable qualities in one man. A tragedy that he didnt survive to write broadcast and live.
I had a 1957, and a 1959 Hillman Minx convertable. They were tough little Cars. They lacked the handling that Winter Driving in Minnesota required. A bit less fun to drive than a Ford Falcon of 1960 on ..... But I enjoyed the challenge of finding Lucas Parts in America.
That Alan Clark chap is a bounder, 41;33 a shot of his lovely long suffering wife.
My mate had a Rapier, always bragged about how fast it was, that was until it meet my Cortina MK1 1500 GT. He as upset that found it was not as fast as he thought it was.
The model in the opening scene was built by Carlo Brianza in 1:14 scale. Thank you for sharing!
I actually worked on this Car a few times many moons ago
I recently took a DNA test and it turned out my unknown Grandfather was a Spitfire Pilot, now researching him, it's amazing. They were so brave. If you have ever seen R W Greenaway of the 91 Sqn's log book (English pilot trained and retained as an instructor in Canada before going into combat in early 45) let me know as I only have a few copied pages but I know its out there somewhere, would love to find it.
The Oxford was such a smart car after it got rid of its fins. The ride was so comfortable, quiet and fast.
The most beautiful car ever! I had one from 1975 until the end of 1982. Frogeyes are still my dream cars.
It's hard to imagine a Bugatti Atlaintique owner driving one outside ever. This was a lot of years ago. Now they are worth Stupid money. It was the most expensive car for a bit if I recall correctly. Luv and Peace.
so was it nice and clean , or need any work ? . lovely colour btw is that paris blue ?
The colour is actually Ice Blue Metallic. It needed new outriggers, suspension arms and a few other things (all of which have now been done). Not bad for a 25 year old car!
Beautiful ...
I have owned my Rover 75 for 14 years and it has travelled nearly 220,000 miles. It is very reliable. M.
Would love to be discerning with dash. M
Che bello rivedere il magnifico clay ragazzoni parlare della sua meravigliosa auto
wow not every day you see a million+ quid car being casually driven around town! :) (now owned by Jon Goodwin and resprayed blue)
There is the golden years of Rolls Royce ✨️ ✌🏽❤️🎶🇦🇺
Fantastic programme. Unlike today’s woke rubbish. 👍🏻🏴
Im related to the Jowett family, my gran or Auntie were related. My mum was adopted by my gran, Irene Wood. In Bradford in 1947, my mum was from Ireland. Id love to hear from someone about the family, i have a family photo & also a grandfather clock made by him. I remember the name Elsie Jowett getting talked about a lot when i was little.
😊👍👍👍😊
Quite remarkable. Wonderful and inspiring story. Thank you for sharing!
"It's very British" What … with an American Engine!
So nice to see the journey, without needing to affird a Rolls Royce myself!
Ivan has just had Chris Goffey on his channel!
Thank you for uploading this. I read The Last Enemy when I was a boy in Lima, Peru. It was a condensed book version published in a 1942 Reader's Digest. As is the case with most Spanish translations the title was completely changed. "My Baptism of Fire in the RAF" was the title for the Spanish speaking market. Overly dramatic, I know. I really enjoyed it and years later read the complete version as an adult in English. Hillary's book had an unforgettable impact in me, and my fascination with the Battle of Britain is reflected in some of my aviation art.
Probably these cars were known to be as Hindustan 14 in India.
I'd like to buy a lhd here in Italy
Ivan Dutton is another Automotive Genius...and a right kind of bloke to...Obviously!🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧
❤ I once was flown by an ex battle of Britain spitfire pilot when I was an ATC Cadet, he was fucking mental , I thought the wings were going to fall off . That was early 80s RAF Lossiemouth or Kinloss , can't remember .
Is there any way to use this footage please?. Ivan Dutton is interviewed on here. Now aged 83 he has a successful TH-cam Channel, SHED Racing, in which he entertains his 18.5k viewers with restoration, racing, anecdotes etc. Would be fabulous if we could use some of the footage of him on his channel - obviously with the appropriate credits etc.
Yes, of course - I actually subscribe to Ivan’s channel! It would be a great honour. I particularly enjoyed his film from a couple of months ago about your California!
@@TR4man we'll try and get in touch with you but not sure how to do this
@@TR4manand I recognise the Lusso you spotted in Staffs !
We have got in touch with Chris Goffey and going to make a film - will make a reference to your footage
I'm ever so glad you could share this with us Suzie.I'd have most likely never have seen it without your sharing the 'link code' with us on Shed Racing's sight.Thank you,and the producers.
I first want to buy one when I was 17 in 1968. The owner wanted $800 (California) but my Dad refused to lend me $400 which I needed to buy it as he thought it was unsafe). Today, at 72 I still would buy one but only if it had a disk brakes 😊.
About 7 of 8 years ago I met John F Kennedy, his wife and the James Radley Silver Gohst in Hum, Croatia. As a car enthousiast I loved to see the RR and talks with John about it. He invited me for the next day to Buzet. I went there and was invited again to make that day a trip. It went to be an unforgetaball day, which I still remember and brings back tears of luck and happiness of meeting John F Kennedy (AKA James Radley), his wunderfull wife end car. THANK YOU FOR THAT WUNDERFULL MEETING AND INVITING JOHN!
You really have to be a driver to get down some of the passes in a heavy car with a crash gearbox, narrow tyres, and no front brakes.
As an RAF pilot sitting on 40 galls of 130 octane, we wore Nomex flight suits and tight fire resistant gloves, white. We could have as many pairs as we wanted. Once hands burned, no more flying. CAVU skies to all aviators.
1343AD is on SORN and hasn't been MOT'ed since 2011. 😟
Good vlz😂
I LIKE DAT WHOLÈ PLAÇÈ 😮
Remember that the R type was just a Mk.6 with a few improvements. As such if all else is equal it's worth no more than a Mk.6
2000s look so vintage now! It’s nuts
My GOD Jeremy was so young....look at that mullet
I'd love to get a ride in any of these. But I'm a long way from France.
Exquisite!
Mad to let the Brave man fly again.
Great presentation of two great cars. One of the best TH-cam car videos I have seen.
Auto raffinata, comparabile ad una Lancia.
I've got his book, it was really interesting.I still remember Richard writing about a couple of pilots eager to take on the Germans, but didn't return.
My dad had one HYS256 4086 cc side valve.
Loved every single thing about this video. I think I was smiling from start to finish. So very English, even the Rapier's heating.
