It’s fine as it has a lot of preamp gain so you don’t have to turn it really loud to sound good. It does sound better louder but it will work on lower volume. I even think there was a 50 watt option on there as well but I don’t have the amp anymore as I need to sold it

The magnum 44 is my favorite ceramic pickup, can you tell a bit more about the sledgehammer? Sounds even more brutal than the magnum 44 😂

The Mesa 2:90 gives the Mesa DR sound but much tighter and fatter and the Kartakou colossus is a bit between the peavey and evh 5150 with a lot of gain so the 5150 preamp in a thick Mesa tight dual rec sound and stereo == 🥰

Nah I like the amp a lot: it has a nice mid grind going on which is unique

No i think I like both but for pure thick tight metal the 2:90 beats the rectifiers in the room

I don't have the dsl anymore 😔 I hope to re-acquire it again in the future

The Maxon runs on 18v chargepump which helps a lot is my feeling with the headroom, volume and clarity. I’m going to look if I can do something similar with my Esmeister one day

For money the Nux is perfect, much better than most overdrive pedals out there. The maxon is slightly better but not 150$ better imho..

Geen soak, 50 watt setting is fijner als het zachter moet maar mijn buren zijn redelijk flexibel. 150 watt headroom is wel fijn om te hebben als het wat harder kan. Bij deze Multiwatt klinkt de rectifier versterking veel dikker dan de diode settings die ik normaliter neem op mijn andere rectifiers maar zo komt hij het beste tot zijn recht met de rectifiers en een boost. Strak en dik; precies zoals ik een rectifier wil hebben ❤

Geweldig. Dank voor de toelichting. Mag ik vragen wat je van de Engl Fireball 25 vindt? Ik zou willen overschakelen naar tube amps maar het gaat me vaak TE hard om een dikke sound te verkrijgen.

@@DirkieGoedhart ik heb de 100 gehad maar vind zelf dat ENGL amps goed klinken op laag niveau, beter op wat harder volume maar ik had de 100 en vond die amp waanzinnig klinken. De 25 zal denk ik prima zijn voor laag volume maar heb er geen ervaring mee. ENGL amps hebben veel gain en saturation dus het hoeft niet zo hard om een lekkere scheur te krijgen maar met wat kokende buizen klinkt het natuurlijk nog beter 😉

Multiwatt and the passive is really tight but less compressed as the EMG 81. EMG 81 always sounds good on rectifiers imho but I like this specific passive pickup on this amp with a boost and the mods I did.

I think it is one of the more tight amps so it will be fine for low tuned metal. I like the low mids of a 5150/dual rec better but would be perfectly fine using the DSL for a show together with an overdrive

Make sure there are no technical defects. Play it, switch channels, turn the knobs to see if you hear any noises, crackling, pops, etc. Look at the tubes after 15 minutes of playing (are they normally glowing with some purple or are they very red and even the metal inside is red? if so they are not properly biased and will pop and blow a fuse). If your an FX user, test the FX loop. I mostly test the above and know I might need to change the tubes but for the rest I expect the amp to be technically perfect in shape.
