please do not mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, it makes chlorine gas which is very bad for any living thing
Thank you for this! My heater is running too hot. Just bought another.
Excellent video. One of the very best I've seen on this topic. Thanks!
When in recent history, have the Democrats ever demonstrated morals you get from the Bible? This guy stands on Christianity is the opposite of Christianity christ-like if he thinks the Democrats give a hoot about Jesus and sin. I just cannot imagine this person is telling the truth when he says he wants to live his life Christ-like and yet agree with the Israel hating klu klux inventing party that 100% promotes unaliving children in the womb
How often fo you need to take it out and clean it? 🤔
Can you just put the female in a separate tank. Until they fry are free swimmer then take out the mother?
How did these sponged work out for you ?
Q: What is the vinegar for? 8:28
Tips for everyone‼ _-Or an essay on water chemistry !?-_ Rocks are a good source of minerals for the aquarium, unless only decorative rock are used. Try to use rock, wood and other materials as media, if you feel up to it. More natural way to adjust the water parameters. Flint (firestone?) should never be used, cuz breaks → sharp edges(knife-/or axe-like sharp). But certain rocks has specific abilities-like raising the hardness and ph by providing calcium, like corals(but for free)-others with iron or magnesium. BTW, calcium(Ca) can be dissolved with cold water and knuckle grease, warm water can "carry" much more Ca and leave a white film/stone of Ca on everything, the Ca will make the water look dirty and turbid when it cools down. think of an electric water boiler/kettle and the residue inside. Wood usually lowers the PH a bit, and a lot of other stuff can be done to make the aquarium target a specific environment, I dont remember anymore(cuz its just running). Cichlids are my primary fish and they like hard semi-basic water, in Denmark its very common to suffer from massive calcium in the water, a PAIN with the white stains and cleaning boiler. And keeping fish that likes soft water is a very bad choice, since invert osmosis or other expensive and time consuming methods are required. But I can take a fish directly from the tank to my drinking glass, and they love it. *Bear in mind* Now vinegar is 5% acidic acid-if my english is correct(DK=lager eddike med 5% eddikesyre), adding salt makes it _hydrochloride acid(HCl)_, adding Ca to either gives carbon-dioxide(CO2). But one removes odor and seems harmless while the other smells like eggs and reacts with many metals, and if HCl is mixed with _sodium Hypochlorite/bleach_ (DK=klorin/natriumhypochlorit) will make a dangerous gas(DK=chlorgas). We DONT have any Cl added to our tap water in Denmark anymore, when measuring the resistance with a multi-meter from a fingers width it might show 5 Mega ohm, after a few seconds it will be just about 5 Kilo ohms roughly(Mega=Million, kilo=thousand), cus of detamination from the air, Cl is the primary factor that makes water(clean H2O) conductive, and can in time build up in dry places-nothing the fish cant take, but can be measured. Table salt does the same (Na+Cl-) 1 plus + 1 minus=salt and sharing electrons/exchanging energy, conducting electricity. Cleaning your house with ammonium chloride/ammoniawater(DK=salmiakspiritus) can find a path to the aquarium, its not a big worry but If I cant breath indoor myself then I usually keep an close eye on my fish, test for Cl if necessary. *_the point is that everything can have an unexpected/unforeseen effect, im not a chem teacher; im just remembering 20 years back, so dont recite me, but examine yourself!_* _I just remembered that it is citric acid(DK=citronsyre) + NaCl that makes HCl not acidic acid, but the point is the same,_ *WATCH OUT! and think before acting, you could accidentally kill everyone in the house* -hydrogen peroxide(H2Os) is also a very dangerous chemical if not handled correctly. DO YOUR RESEARCH (you will thank youself for it;) Lookup the most common type of rocks in your area, and read some about them, it might be useful. Kind of like mushroom-hunting-although.. noobs should *NeVer EVER* hunt for "new" mushroom without a "shroom-connoisseur"(you get it), but rocks on the other hand are not that dangerous to experiment with. P.N. * REMEMBER _ALKALINITY_* ‼_(how many mol/pint...etc)_ -if you dont know/remember that much chemistry, just know that sometimes it takes a single "shot" to go from 3 to 8, other times its pint after pint and almost nothing, but at some point it can jump like crazy. Remember phenol? Drop, drop, drop.... drop still nothing, drop and bang its all red(or blue/purple or whatever), can be the same in aquariums if trying to manually add chemicals to adjust for some wood of anything. /Dan the danish fishman, while wating for my huge piece of wood to boil in my 400Liter bathtub, LOL XD. If only we could pump free water and gas from the ground(ohh wait, we can...) P.s Did not check for nonsense so I hope its understandable, i dont care for spelling if it makes sense. DK= is the danish term if uncertain on the correct term in english. Shots and pints(a beer) is like Deci Liter(Liter/100) and liter for those who only measure in cups and spoons (or feet and thumbs) still, and other :P hope it makes sense figuratively
Thanks Godbless with ex ok
How is one in 55 gal 500 ok

💕 This was soooo helpful and I’m so glad it popped up in my feed when it did. I just picked up some rocks and some driftwood from the river yesterday, to put in my 2 aquariums, but wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to pollute my tank! This was such a great video! Thank you! 💕
😊😊😊
TL/DR: He said 5 Watt / Gallon. Video around 4 minutes.
The tetras will nip the flowing fins of the beta fish. So do your research when deciding tank mates. It's best if you just stick to a single male beta by it's self. That's the safest way to go.
scratching a rock to determine if it's aquarium safe is not even close to being true.
Could you use bricks and rocks from home depot?
I have a couple of each of your top 3 sizes. My favorite is the 125 gallon. I’ve just created a fish room in my basement with some larger tanks. My tanks were mostly 75 gallons and smaller, but I moved tanks downstairs to make room for one of my 125 gallons and a 180 gallon into the den. Can’t wait to finish the setup! 😀
You use only sponge filter in this beautiful tank?
Very nice!!
Naja, schön ist anders.
I'm happy you made a video letting us know you are good and I love hearing you say you are bringing back a couple tanks. Plants look great. Hope there fish tanks. As you know they're good for your health and stress. Thanks for sharing
I'm glad you are back
Nice! 47 gallon?
Do you any heater that can go up to 98 F or 37 C?
Why would you ever want a tank that warm? Most of them can go that high, but it will likely shorten the lifespan of the heater.

@@VetAquatics Tilapia fry temperature treatment to get supermale sex. Any recommendation of the safer one to use?
how common is a 50 GAL standard tank 3 feet long by 18 inches wide by 19 inches tall ?
Thanks dude, you're spot on and thing's are coming along nicely
how can you tell their gender while they're still young, maybe like a size of a few inches, or you can't?
What do you do with the tanks of fish that needs cooler water if you heat the room
Welcome back, man!! ❤️❤️❤️
Glad to see you back!!! I love the Apistos!!! Some of them have such stunning colors. Even though my water is acidic it's also moderately hard. It should be soft but it's not. Idk why. And my ph is a steady 6.8. So I just stay away from apistos because I don't want to kill them. 🤷♀️
I miss the type of videos with your face on it cuz it seems more personal but this style isn’t to bad. Do what makes you happy.
Just trying it out! AI is a pretty powerful tool, and I'm still learning. There will definitely be videos of me by me 🙂
Glad you’re back man! So many old timer fish tubers seem to have quit so it’s nice to see ya back.
That stinks to hear :/ I guess that means I'll have to bounce back pretty big!
@@VetAquatics if anyone can do it my brother it’s you!
1st welcome back!!!!!!!
Thank you!
First video in a while- I hope everyone is doing great!
hope you are well, Dylan!🙏
@@pelhamsaquatics I'm doing great! I appreciate you!
I boil my drift wood before it goes anywhere near a tank (A ) it stops any fungas or bacteria , 2 it stops the rotting prodess ,3 it removes tanans 4 kills any critters
African Dwarf frogs are also good for 20 gallon long aquariums.
Thank you for this video. I found some awesome rocks. I made a TH-cam short asking for help to see if they would work. No one reached out so I found this thank you. I believe they’re safe. ❤
29 gallon is 30" long
Hi i have 4 Apisto Borelii's in a 29g tank they are about 4 mths old plenty of leaf litter and bog on a sand substrate. I vary their diet but have been tild that frozen blood worms are not Good ? I have in the past always fed the apistos bloodworms with no issues 🤔 so whatbi really need to know is the temperature thats best for the Borelii's they are currently at 24 but it feels teally cold and they are very pale should i bring it up too 25 ? Any and all advice would be great thanks. 👍
Bloodworm shells are hard for them to digest, and it can lead to bloat. Black worms are much better for them!
What is RO water ?
Reverse osmosis water- it's had all the minerals and chemicals removed!
Thank you for coming back🙏🏼
Don’t buy waiters just we’re doing this the creek looks pretty shallow just buy a pair of hiking boots you can buy them pretty cheap for like an OK pair they’re like maybe 40 bucks but waiters could be way more expensive if you’re looking for like a less long lasting Rain boots would probably be the best option
Here in Florida on my property I have thousands years old coral do you think it would be okay on my rocks I boiled them for a couple hours should they be okay
Probably just soak them in clean water until the salt is dissolved!
Good video...I got hooked up with a couple 125 gallons, but I want to re silicone to be safe
Bro, Your video popped up when I typed in the product name and "set-up." THANK YOU! In less than a minute, you got me pulling apart things I thought were glued, and I'm watching the rest for the rest of what I didn't know I didn't know. Thanks for your time making these videos!
So I agree that hybrids are ok some times and bad others, but I completely disagree with your logic. The original blood lines for most fish in the hobby are so well established, I think there is little risks of loosing the original lines. In fact there will always be people breeding natural occurring species. Mankind has been selectively breeding probably from the beginning of mankind. This is fine with in certain standards. First we should inform people who buy the offspring if it’s a hybrid. Secondly, we should strive to keep these man made hybrids out of nature. Lastly, we should attempt to avoid creating weak and illness prone fish. So if our hybridization creates fish that are ultimately unhealthy then we shouldn’t continue that hybridization.
