All that running and crashing about and loud talking ? Hunt much ? You called it a Saturday double , I'd call it a sh#t show ! Both way out of shape ! Producing an outdoor channel isn't in your cards !
Keep going
Good job
⚠️🔥🔥🔥🔥🦌🤙🏽 Congratulations! Every new season is a learning experience. Keep grinding!
@@J_G_Romero_1973 Thank you, yes, keep grinding we will...
Ton’s of good bucks bit the dust this year in the TWA. What a fun hunt, to see all those deer hanging in trees was impressive! Hope I draw again next year! Great video.
Nice video
@@kenjie316yeung7 Thank you, just simply the way this season went. Hope yours was good.
The people that choose to stay in CA & are shocked about yearly wildfires & complain every time are the same breed as those that stay in tornado alley & are shocked that their 7th house was taken out by a tornado..., again! Ya can't fix stupid.
Yeah, I definitely understand your comment. But, to play devils advocate, a lot of CA. fires are man made (arsonist) are running wild here. A ton of mental health issues. I believe residents are just fed up with it. At least, that's how it is here in Northern California.
Great video again! Where's the quad? Did you have any more luck in the B zone. We got two 4x4's August complex area. But they are getting fewer and far between. G1 is OK. But I still think you should check out X6A. We have gone there 3 times thru the years with great success. Pure muleys ( you can tell from the tails) great walking areas or you can drive till you see the one you want. Don't need weather either. X6A was highest success ratio in the state in 2023 for an x zone. My little cousin got drawed last year. I sent him exactly to our spot and he bagged his first mule deer. 28 inches. It takes 5 points atleast to get drawed. If your interested, I can let you know where to go. Good luck on your next hunt. Congrats again to Gavin on his first buck. I remember mine 44 years ago like it was yesterday. Till next time!
Wow! Thank you so much @reconscout5994 for the great comment. While reading your comment, it reminded me why I love the hunting community, sharing your success this year, giving a nugget of advise out about an area to hunt and sharing your cousins first mule deer success (a 28" whopper!) Congratulations to an awesome year you boyz had! I was a proud father the day my son got his first buck and your comment today has brought back all that pride inside me again. Thank you, thank you, thank you... Yes, "Till next time!"
Blowing out your spots publicly online & you wonder why you are seeing fewer bucks. 🤦
My guy back at it!
Congrats young man
Dustin, Thank You so much! I'll let Gavin know. Another Great day to be a father.
@@codysheenoutdoors headed to G1 Friday morning, finger crossed 🤞 they have moved into the wildlife area
Awesome
Cody what do you think of the burned at G1 is it good to hunt there this year? I got a late hunt not sure where to hunt due to the burned.
Kenijie, to answer your question in short. Yes, I just went into the burn for the first time yesterday and saw more fresh sign and does that of my first two days combined. Look for them off the road in the draws. Good luck.
@@codysheenoutdoors thank you !
where did you camp?
Drew this tag this year, and the second half of the wildlife area, praying for weather and fearful of the burn damage
Dustin, I'm in the same boat! I know the Tehama Wildlife Area is open for hunting this year, but I'm afraid there's not enough feed for any of the wildlife to live there currently. And with it being so hot in July, August, September and until just recently, I don't think the deer have even thought of moving down into their wintering range yet. Also, to make it more difficult for us hunters, Lassen National Forest Service has closed a huge area all the way around the Park fire. So, I'm not even sure what I'm going to do for this up coming weekend. But, what I do know, is my son and I will be out in the woods somewhere giving it "The old college try."
@codysheenoutdoors I am not going till the second half but if the deer haven't started moving yet, hunt the oaks, the local deer are still there, just got to find them, good luck to you and your son!
I don’t know what the odds of this are, I just saw you hiking around yesterday, the young kid in the dodge
I remember talking with you. I guess you just never really know who you are going to run into out in the hunting woods. Thanks for watching. Good luck to you this last week of the season. 🦌
Cringe worthy
Pumped for him. Like you said he won’t ever forget that first one. Congrats Gavin
@travisbailey9866 Thank you Travis. It was good times for all!
Scoped yourself huh? lol jk good job fellas !
Thanks for the comment. Not exactly scope myself, when I was falling and sliding down the cut bank I slammed my nose into my turret, also cutting my lower leg by a rock that I was unaware of at the moment. Just a little tumble...😅
@@codysheenoutdoors just giving you a hard time . I Enjoy the videos bud congrats to the little man on his buck
It’s been the year of does for me. 50 ish doe and two spike. I’m waiting for the last couple weeks. This weather had them acting funny.
Me too brother, a lot of does and fawns... So far after six days of hunting this season, the only legal buck I've seen was Gavin's. I've heard it's been a tough year for a lot of hunters. But, we'll keep trying won't we.
@@codysheenoutdoors yup! Hunted A zone for 10 days. I think I saw two legal bucks but didn’t get eyes on their antlers so only can assume not legal. Bodies were grey though. Area I was hunting was heavily pressured. I need to buy some land. Wishful thinking.
@@TiredAmerican247I agree, living the dream of owning hunting land. It's a tough year, but we will keep pushing forward because of our passion for our outdoors. ❤

@@jesuslopez-vh1zo Thanks for the guess. (A little high) I hope you have a great hunting season this year.
Don’t blame the copper bullets, Barnes has one of the best terminal performances. Improve your shooting skills first. Do not try offhand shooting unless you have to. You were not that far from your car. Use a bipod or shooting stick next time.
@kevinli9331 Thanks for the good advice, Kevin. Since the 2021 season, I have found a copper bullet that I really like. It's Federal premium TSX 130 grain made by Barnes. Since changing, I'm 2 for 2 with one shot kills. But, you're right. It's ALL about placement. Thanks for the comment, and good luck to you and your family hunting this year.
Great job!!!
Great hunt!! Just subscribed to your channel and my boys and I love your videos!!! Good luck this year!!! What rifle and caliber are you using in this video? Love to see well worn rifles and wood stocks!!!
Thanks Mike. I'm happy that you and your boys enjoy the chanel. In this video, I'm using a Ruger Mark II chambered in 7mm all original. This rifle is the rifle I grew up with. I believe my father bought it sometime in the late 60's (68 or 69) I wish the best of luck to you and your family this hunting season. Again, thank you for Subscribing.

Thank you so much Mike. Yes, Ned and I will be hitting the slopes together again this year! 🦌
Do you set up camp in the wildlife area anywhere you want? Drew G1 for the first time this year, definitely a learning curve.
My son drew the J21 tag. Planning on heading up a couple times to scout before the season. Is there any info you might be interested in sharing?
Thank you for your question, @teamlarsenoutdooradventure4236. Congratulations on drawing one of the fifty tag permits they offer. First, on this hunt, you guys have some time to work with, around 7 weeks of season. (9-21-24 / 11-3-24) I've never known anyone to draw this tag, and we all want to hunt smarter not necessary harder, right. The J-21 East Tehama Apprentice Either-Sex deer hunt should be no problem in getting opportunities, but I'm sure your looking for the "right opportunity." So, incase you didn't know the deer you guys will be hunting typically migrate East of the Tehama County to the west, to lower elevation. Currently the deer are hung up in the higher elevation 4,000 feet plus like in, the Mineral area and Lassen National Forest. (Now, there's always going to be the local deer that don't really migrate.) I'm not really talking about those deer. We are ALL going to need weather to push the deer around and down, (moving West.) I personally would wait longer into the season, but definitely try to get it done before the G1 opener (Oct. 26th) trying to locate were the dose have moved, hopefully down into the lower foothills where there is the grasslands and Blue oaks. When you find where the does are at, typically the bucks aren't to far behind. Meaning, they will still be lagging in time and still will be in slightly higher elevation from anywhere as high as 800 feet - 1,800 feet. It just really depends on how much rain we get before and during the season. In a nut shell: 1. We need weather. 2. Hunt where the deer are at. (Elevation) 3. Hunt the mornings and evenings. (If you are hunting in the middle of the day look for them to be bedded in shade.) 4. Just have FUN! We are creating life long memories, document it, and just have FUN... I hope this helps you with your question. I'm sure you probably already know all this information, and if not, I hope there's a gold nugget in there for you. "Good luck" to you and your apprentice this year. If possible, when your apprentice fills his or her tag, could you re-comment letting me know how they did? Thanks, Cody Sheen Outdoors

Great place i’ve always wanted to go to b3 I mainly hunt b2
B2 is where it ALL STARTED for me... You got to LOVE a TRUE Columbia Blacktail!
We stopped going here. The mexican drug cartel were there. My renter worked for the forest service and she said it was so dangerous they rarely went there
Sounds scary but you told me no guns are allowed so the cartel should be unarmed right?
@@ToschiReelLifeMedia you know what they say when guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns. They actually have guys in trees watching for people coming. And they walk around with AK-47's I saw them and I told my renter I went there and she told me about them and I said yes I saw them
@@davidadams5280 dang lol I bet they shot all the deer
Probably. I last went there about 10 years ago. I don't think I'll ever go back. I first went there in 1972
I don't know if they shot all the deer 🦌 because I won't go there. It's about 20 miles down a dirt road. No cell service. And Very Scary people. No Thanks lol
Looks like X3A every thing burnt
Hey, my friends and i are planning a camping trip here in a couple of weeks and we're wondering if dispersed camping is allowed in the area or if we have to stay at one of the 6 designated spots.
Hi @klm7915, I definitely don't want to veer you down the wrong road here. I'm not 100% positive. I would call BLM (Bureau of Land Management) and get the facts from them. I do know the road in (Pondarosa) has been recently graded and is in great shape. Happy camping!
Damn… my spot… see you there next season.
I hope I do see you, and good luck this up coming season.
Hard work pays off brother
I go up there shed hunting most weekends, if you’re looking for someone to go on a hike with let me know. Saw a forky packing both sides on my way in this Saturday
Thanks for the comment, 530hunter. You know me, I always like going on hikes... Today, I ran into a group of bachelor bucks just starting to grow out. (EP 05) I hope you're having a good shed hunting year, I'm still trying to really find that solid pocket of browns or hard whites. I guess that's one reason why we keep going out to shed Mt.
I have been waiting to run into you in that area shed hunting and meet you. Love your videos!
A huge THANK YOU, Brandon! Your comment means a lot to me. From time to time, I run into other shed hunters, and it alwaymakes me happy to live in a country where we can get out and enjoy the great outdoors, no matter were we live. I'm sure one day we will cross each other's paths. Keep on searching brother.

Hello @flohunting, It's been a little over 8 months now and according to my calculations you are the closes to the gross score. So you sir, have the official "Bragging Rights!" 145 7/8" Nice Job!
@@codysheenoutdoors Haha! Well you did pretty much show us the score if you pause the video at the right time...
I just found your channel, and I was wondering if you recommend getting an AO tag for Mendicino National Forest?
Hello zoeleckey, an archery only tag is a great tag to have to explore and cover a ton of new land that you might not ever hunt otherwise. To answer your question, yes, all day long. The bucks are bachelor up and are in their summer range at that elevation (5-6 thousand feet). Plus, there are a lot of different techniques to be used in Mendocino National Forest. Hope that helps you, and have a great upcoming season.
So tag is all I will ever buy for now one filled mine in 8 days this year with a really nice folkin horn
