It very well could have been. But for taking different variations of steps along the way I certainly expected to see a bigger difference in the end result!

My choice is essentially not making a choice! There will be more to come on this but I’m going with some white, some green, and some very very dark green. Almost black like!

So yes. When we did this video we went with black so it would be exactly opposite of the composition of the SLAPCHOP model. Since this we have tried some other colors and methods for the wash. But it’s certainly an area I’d like to explore more. Just need the right projects to call for it.

It’s very beginner friendly! The co-op leads to a looser play and it’s kinda fun to lose bc you just get absolutely swarmed by a horde! The plan is to live stream all the games and do recaps hitting g the high points! Along with an escalation league style painting requirements! Stay tuned and let us know what you think!

Malignant green Goblin green Zealot yellow Speedpaint medium if brush painting airbrush thinner if airbrushing. Then finishing it off with a streak and grime! Thank you for checking out the video.

I always go for the standard black primer witht a zenithal highlight, might need to try some variations myself

I really want to start playing with other colors of prime and highlight setting up for certain colors or armor and stuff.

The greychop was certainly a pleasant surprise. I did not expect it to work as well as it did!

The problem there is the color when is wrong. I don’t believe it behaved any different than just speedpaint through an airbrush. 🤷🏻‍♂️

How about this, I’ll try it again without any traditional paint (not sure how I’m going to get the color yet) if you promise to tune in again 🥳

​​@rollemifyougottem Are you using old speedpaints or 2.0? They expanded their greens, so maybe one of them fits the tone you want (perhaps Ghillie Dew?), or maybe you could replace the Goblin Green in the mix (possibly with Orc Skin or Shamrock Green).

Another idea would be to take the Goblin Green out of the airbrush mix and incorporate it in the underpainting. There's no law saying underpainting can only be done with black, grey and white. My tyranids are a colourful bunch, but all their underpainting is done with purples. In this case, I would try a basecoat of Rhinox Hide, a strong drybrush of Goblin Green, and a lighter zenithal drybrush of Screaming Skull.

It’s not even 1/4 opaque paint though. And i don’t agree with the airbrush not getting ANY benefit from underpainting. Even with completely traditional paints an airbrush still gets benefits from underpainting. That’s the entire purpose to them is they’re thinner than brush painting. I do think the goblin green mattered a little but I’ve been airbrushing with traditional paints for the better part of a decade and this mix is certainly thinner than even what I’ve done before.

Try with 100% translucent paints from the airbrush and also with 100% translucent paints from the brush, guaranteed you'll see some difference. The airbrush works by pulverizing paint so you get a nice thin and even coat(emphasis on even). A great part of what makes speedpaints give you nice contrast is their ability of flowing into the recesses, when you apply a thin coat through the airbrush the paint dries before it can flow. Edit 1 : I stand corrected on the use of the word ANY. But I do think that the effect is diminished when it goes through the airbrush Edit 2: 2 drops Goblin green (40%) 2 drops malignant green(40%) 1 drop zealot yellow (20%) So that's 40% of opaque color

And 2-3 drops of thinner or speedpaint medium so 25% but I see your point.

I airbrush contrast a lot over slapchop and zenethal and it's 100 percent the non-speedpaint incorporated. The TH-camr disagrees but he just wasted a lot of effort setting up underlayers for contrast and painted over it.

You can totally still see the underpaintings. I could have thinned it more to create more pooling like speedpaint brush painting but in my experience it’s not necessary.

Do I’ve decided my army will be a mix of the 3 schemes. Some units have a lore reason for certain color schemes and some will just be whatever I decided! But i do like the idea! Maybe my next army!

I wish it did my friend! We have had amazing sub numbers the last month! 46ish weeks to go from 100-500 and 4 weeks to go from 500-700! Hopefully this train keeps on rolling!
