I like to ride mostly double with some singe track and am looking to do some light Adv riding. Do they hold up well on the highway and still provide good off-road performance? Thanks!

LlHi, just for recording clean exhaust sound, what settings to be applied? Because the exhaust sound is getting heavily clipped with -12 gain, no noise cancellation, low cut on and clipping on. The mic Mini was placed just 15cm away from exhaust. The mic is used with Osmo 5 pro

I very much agree with your assessment. I worked on one last year who wanted new suspension. As a suspension pro, I always started with my asking “what’s wrong with your riding experience?”. I got the bike from him with 0.0 miles total. He had been extremely pleased with his other bike that we reworked. In the process of my riding the bike and making changed I discovered mow much I enjoyed the Transalp! More than a half a year later, I purchased one of my own even though I was not in the market for a heavy (okay “medium” adventure bike. I am very pleased with this bike. Of course I have improved the suspension but only after coming to the same conclusions you mention. I would so very much enjoy discussing in some more detail making my own upgrades based on my 200 lb weight. You may be much better expressing and maybe experiencing what I found. I do think your audience would be really interested in your additional thoughts, suggestions and experience. Please let me know what you think.

Ooooh, I have this covered in two sentences: If you want to do some road riding and you're not competing offroad, get the RL. If you're not road riding, or you are competing offroad, get the X. It's as simple as that.

I've ridden a half-dozen of these and even raced a Pro model in the Corduroy two-day Enduro. None of them had that fluctuating idle. It's definitely not normal in my experience and I hope my 450 doesn't run like that when I get it in May. The standard models (low and high) had good suspension, the Pro I raced had great suspension. It held 370lbs of motorcycle up in the stroke with that plush initial travel and felt great all the way through. I never really bottomed it out, or if I did it never let me know. The clutch can take so much abuse it's almost ridiculous. I ran Kenda Knarly front and rear with mousse and the traction was phenomenal in hard Enduro terrain. It wasn't made for it but it can handle it. Speaking of handling, anything high speed was so much fun. It slides out predictably but feels planted at the same time. Power, it has more than most will need. I have a few KTM 525s and a Beta 500 and yeah, it doesn't have that snappy feeling of the Beta or the low-end torque of the KTM RFS motors but it also weighs more than any of those bikes. Once it's up to speed it hangs with them on wide open terrain or on pavement easily. Plus the fairing does a good job of cutting through the air and making a nice pocket for the rider, certainly better than the stock fairing on my KTM 950 Adventure.

I really really like your video. Your video focus in the way the weight of the RL can be reduced to get close to the X's, but what if you have a X and want to use it as a Dual Sport? I mean make the X closer to the RL.

I like the middle one... -12 low. The last one with everything on max makes it sound a little tin-can-ish imho. But, could have just been the clips.

I'm going to run my gopro's until they die... cuz action cameras are expensive, yo, and I usually run 3 or 4 on our ride videos, not to mention the media mod, mic and cardo setup already. It's an investment! But this definitely looks like something I'll migrate to as my gopro's age out, and I definitely like the longer battery life of the dji's.

ever since switching from gopro hero 11 (with media mod) to dji action 4 with mic adapter and gain set to around -10 I still feel like im struggling with good audio. I love the reliability of dji but the audio of a gorpo with a media mod just seems to do a better job. I need help :( Maybe I should also set my gain level to -12 to see if that makes a difference. Or buy this mic mini

Shinko / GT 216 is my fav front across the board. Fav DS rear is a Motoz Enduro IT. Won't drag a knee like Rossi with either though lol.

I happily moved away from a Hero 9 to an Osmo Action 5 and the Mic Minis. In my channel you have a gain test of the Minis. I put the Mic Mini in the same place and method as you. I think the best sound is with Low Noise Cancelation and probably a -10 Gain. I love this Mics, cheers

I started motovloging mid 2018. Used one GoPro Hero 7 Black. In 2021 I decided to get a 2nd Hero 7 Black, then in 2022 I got three Hero 8 blacks. The Hero 8 Blacks were a mistake. All three were unreliable, freezing, turning off, cycling on and off after ony owning them for one year. Now only one Gopro still works and that is the Hero 7 I initially bought; but, that too now has issues. So, this month I Plan getting an osmo action 5 and that mini mike you just demonstrated. Great Video.

Great content; very informative. I think I like the low background cancellation best. The “high” setting made your voice seem “thinner” and back ground noise was more “tinny” like you were inside a metal tank. You said it best in a nutshell-doesn’t sound natural.

Happy new year Rod! Another new gear video, always super helpful. I recently bought the same mic mini solo. There's a lot of disturbance when the mic is just connected via bluetooth than if you use a receiver directly connected to the camera (like when using the DJI mic 1 setup). I haven't had a chance to use the bluetooth set up while riding, but I noticed it while trying to test film. I am also using it with an insta360 instead of a DJI camera. I wonder if that matters. I cannot access the settings without having a receiver. Thanks for your input.

How fast does it record when you switch on the Action 5? When using the DJI Mic with the Action 4, it always takes about 10 seconds before recording audio, I also have random issue of the Mic not recording at all

Something between low and high would be nice. The unnatural sounds on the high setting weren't horrible, the low setting was better in that regard for sure.
