During the 1990s when I was in my 20s I did Greyhound throughout the 1990s usually for very cheap. I live on the east coast of the U.S. and wanted to explore America, "warts and all" and Greyhound fit the bill perfectly. More than once, I was able to travel from Atlantic City, NJ to Oregon and California roundtrip for $118, and the last time I did so was at the end of 1999 into early 2000. Back then, there were no electrical outlets so all of the electronics I lugged with me which were radio boom-boxes and a pocket TV that relied on non-rechargeable battery power. Of course, no smartphones or internet or phones at all, though I do recall during one stretch on Greyhound between NJ and Wisconsin, seeing an urbanite lady while heading into Chicago using a portable phone in early 1992. That was something else. I enjoyed exploring all the stops in between but have to concur that some areas were dicey and warranted caution. And it's not for the faint hearted as you said, sleep can be hard to come by and you are at the mercy of whatever food stops you encounter in your travels. Despite the misgivings, I did meet some truly interesting people and made some lifelong lasting memories though I do not see myself doing Greyhound anytime soon.
Great trip!
I will never ride Greyhound again. Facilities are disgusting, bus stops at every podunk town, some really creepy riders and more.
Greyhound is awful! I would never recommend anyone use the Greyhound if you can avoid it.
just so you know a lot of your sound is in the left channel, you probably wanna change that to mono so it doesn't pan to the left
Keep it up, found your comment on a growing youtube channel
I've on the train, but I've never seen curtains on a bus.
I took a Greyhound from Calgary to Edmonton when the UFC was in Calgary.
Work on your sound. Most of the time you sound muffled and mumbeling.
Greyhound spooky af
Wow 36 hours is insane 😲
1:14 - Yow!
Haha. Crazy Ride.
I took a 70 hour bus trip from Los Angeles to Philadelphia in 1976. I remember dicey terminals, scary passengers, and surly drivers. Smoking was allowed everywhere except in Utah. I was hoping things would have improved since then.
Nothing change I see even back then It’s crazy
I love to travel too, specially by train,it’s a lovely adventure ❤ New subscriber here Watching from south africa 🇿🇦

Thanks, appreciate it! Definitely.
That bathroom looked like Houston’s greyhound 😂
😅 DAM
Its horrible. Security guards protecting drug dealers. Panhanlers. Scum trying to lure you outside to rob you. Stupid staff. Its a ghetto on wheels.
I see Greyhound and the bus stations haven't changed since I took Greyhound to Los Angeles from Louisiana back in 1981. It isn't anything I'd do again.
Nice vid! Looking forward for more reviews! :D ps. please don't film the border control, they're ... border control, they have higher authority than regular police. Hopefully by end of year, when HOPEFULLY, Romania joins land Schengen, that border check will become a a nuisance of the past. LE: you entered Romania via Salonta? It's a little unusual, what train did you take? LE2: in the 6-berth couchette, the middle bunk slides down and during day use it is recommended (to have a comfortable travel) that the pivot underneath (I think it's by the window) be let loose and the bunk lowers, transforming the compartment in second class carriage. LE3: "Compartiment de Serviciu" it's a reserved compartment for the carriage conductor. It's where he sits and holds the bedding items for the entire carriage. LE4: 29:39 that was the "restaurant" car, which was a Bar-Bistro, which did not serve any meals, sandwich tops.
Thanks for the info! It was my first time ever on a sleeper and first time in Romania.
I wish i knew that’s where the conductor was before i knocked ha

Amazing trip!
Indeed.
I once did Greyhound bus from California to Kentucky, took 3 and a half days . The scenic route.
How’d you rate it 1-10?
Traveling by sleeper train is always a good way to travel a lot of hours and many km
Yes, it was actually nice.
100th sub
Let's get to our first 💯 Subs. 3 Subs away..........
I got on in Miami, they didnt know where regina Saskatchewan is, 3 days up the eastern seaboard. Then 3 days across Canada! They dont have greyhound in Canada anymore, thank the Good Lord!
Why do people put up with this? Airline tickets are not that much more expensive. Look at the discomfort and time wasting! Is it ignorance or do people really not have the extra 50 bucks for a Spirit flight?
For some destinations There is no direct flight or even no flight at all so the bus is all u got in a lot of places , and if ur flight is only operated by 1 company it can be really overpriced , look at Washington - New York for exemple in last minute train are overpriced and planes are always overpriced so Greyhound is okay
Some people don’t like to fly…
Yea see the flights from Tampa to Texas are 600 and the bus is 100... The prices are just a tad more than a "little more"
I subbed to your channel as subscriber 89. It'll be cool to see where your channel grows to. I like the concept.
Thanks for the sub!
Former employee of 14.5 years and if I told all I know they will say Im being a hater. I left right before Flix took over so I dont know the state of how they are currently doing things. Ill just say I left for a reason. Having said that...the original Greyhound was a beautiful system and thats the company that I always wanted to be apart of. The original Greyhound. I do respect the drivers since I know the lifestyle of being a driver. Most things that people complain about have nothing to do with the drivers. Its more so the company because I know for a fact that most drivers do the best with what they are given.
I appreciate your service. It’s definitely tough on the drivers at times for sure. It’s simply as you said, when you're given not so decent equipment and management, you're then left with picking up legs plus yours to carry.
Literal holocaust services.
Bro you turn the camera too much and too fast. Easy on that thing next time.
Noted. Appreciate the feedback
It used to be worse. I'm old enough to remember when buses didn't even have bathrooms.
If you remember my tips youl make it alittle less stressful not completly but it will help
Appreciate it. I gotchu
Tips bring snacks earphones noise canceling remember your usb chargers bring a battery pack in case to charge ports arent working on the bus mine all worked bring neck pillow and a nice memoery foam for you butt and back and pay for that extra seat if you csn afford it
Extra seat is definitely a top three tip for anyone that can afford for sure!
after all that, may be just fly ?
I took the grey hound from vegas to Lakeland FL it has its flaws but it what i exspected nothing special just be ready bring snacks my bus was only late arriving to dallas but its was an exspectation i was prepared for due to road works but i was nit surprised
I took greyhound back in 1996 and then later in 2008. In the 3-4 times I traveled,I can't recall a single issue of problem. Got where I needed to go. After watching this video and others, It's clear Greyhound has gone to pieces. I guess I'll have to try Spirit airlines now or Amtrak maybe.
Used to have to ride the Greyhound from college in San Diego to Downtown, LA, ajd from Santa Barbara to downtown LA. Nothing like pulling into downtown, LA, deep in the shit section, on a friday night. Pulled my duffle bag up on my shoulder, walk out of the terminal, stepping over passed put winos covered in their puke, pimps strolling to patrol their girls, druggies, pandhandlers to walk up 8 or 9 blocks to catch the city bus to my old neighborhood. What a shithole way to travel. The bus is full of people too poor to drive their own cars, like poor college students, and it stinks, full of low lifes. Thr termibal is just a rat fuck pit of humanity. The movie Taxi Driver came to mind. Then in 1981 i had ro ride a Continental Trailways from Fort Benning, Georgia back to Los Angeles, travelinf across Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California in middle of summer heat. Nothing but low lifes and jillbillies too poor to have their own car. It was during the air controllers strike, so the army stuck me on a bus. What a trip through hell.
I never took Greyhound before and I will make sure it stays that way. Intercity bus travel is hell! Great video!
FlixBus, Megabus, and Peter Pan are good, as was Bolt Bus when I existed.
@@FerdinandCesarano never been on Flixbus or Megabus before but I have been on Peter Pan from Boston to Connecticut. The bus smelled bad and the bathroom was covered in feces. I think it might be just that one bus specifically but most of the time bus travel doesn’t seem so appealing
Longest I've spent on a Greyhound bus is Cleveland Ohio to New Orleans Louisiana over a 1000 miles got too New Orleans on time the next day 5:00 am....
I took Amtrak home from New Orleans Louisiana....
I changed bus 3 times going down there Nashville Tennessee...... Montgomery Alabama..... Mobile Alabama.....the New Orleans Louisiana....
I spent 3 days in New Orleans Louisiana comfort Inn downtown New Orleans Louisiana....
I was in the Mobile Alabama greyhound bus station at 3 am in the Morning never seen so much rain in my life....all by myself...
I sat next to this lady for 19 hours New Orleans Louisiana..to Chicago Illinois...we slept next to each other that night she never said a word... Amtrak...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣what a cry baby you are. i've done 3 round trips from vancouver to montreal on old canadian greyhound-now out of business.1985,1987,1988. that's 4 days each way. only stops were at depots. slept on bus.went straight thru. plus no ac,smoking was still allowed on buses back then.people smoking pot in the bathroom and making people who had to smell it,body odor, crying and screaming babies.even on the 1987 trip in dec there was a fire on the bus.we evacuated on the outskirts of soo st marie, ont.f==king freezing out temps from a out snowstorm.thank god a deadhead bus was following us.we went on that bus into the soo. found out electrical fire was under my seat !!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Same 30hours from ny to miami
Flixbus bought it and done nothing. But flixbus was nicer how? I only done short trip after a horrible long trip Georgia.
I found the flixbus to be better smelling and air quality
Interesting videos you have. Just subscribed
I would never take a bus. Thanks
No one would! It’s hell
@@MrStark-up6fi IT IS
This is the one of the reasons why I hardly ever go downtown where I live at. Very sad
They need to nationalize Greyhound like Amtrak.
Why so it can be even more of a failure Amtrak has not been a profitable company in over 20 years . However I do see your point when it comes to having over sight of Greyhound the company is obviously corrupt.
I survive on the same but I managed to get reduced bargains from places like Co-op which are top of their game for reduced items such as bread normally 53p on reduced.
noooo why metal fork on teflon pan dudeeeeeeee
