@washingtoncrossingamerican5416 Good morning, gentlemen. You guys have created a terrific podcast. I've already downloaded your playlist of 12, I believe, videos that you have posted on your TH-cam channel. I am sure that over the next year or two your TH-cam channel will enter into the pantheon of other terrific revolutionary war TH-cam channels. This has been a terrific lecture by Gary Ecelbarger. What I find so interesting about this particular lecture is that Gary did his research. WOW! What a novel idea. It seems to me that the previous historians, in regards to this topic, did not do their due diligence in terms of research. We know that many historians put together information that they tend not to scrutinize. Consequently, misleading primary source information tends to be handed down from generation to generation of historians who end up taking it for fact. All you have to do is look at Washington's letter to Congress where he ends up telling them, basically, that there's just above 11,000 men in camp. Gary did some terrific research on this. I love the stuff that I've seen Gary Ecelbarger do on youtube. His lecture on how Abraham Lincoln was able to capture the Republican nomination for president was fantastic! Thanks for this lecture guys it was terrific.
Thank the living loving most merciful God that at least we the people a aka citizen soldiers won the damn war
I just love this type of useless information I grew up in fort Wayne so I studied Anthony Wayne now I live in Lincoln Alabama which was named after Benjamin Lincoln
This is my 7th great grandfather lol
Washington didn’t want the money to go directly to the troops because he was afraid that the troops would drink the money away. So, he instructed Esther to donate winter uniforms to the troops. After raising a lot of money, she and Benjamin Franklin’s daughter (and other mothers of the Revolution) bought fabric sewed uniforms for the troops in lieu of donating money.
I too am a descendant of Esther and Joseph. I am grateful for your presentation here and am taking my daughter to Philadelphia in the spring to visit their grave at Laurel Hill. We are currently reading a book about Esther and studying the letters between Joseph and George Washington.
There were 152 militia who died,do you know there names?
FELT History 🥴. This is not history.
This was very interesting, thanks!
This is an amazing piece
Then again we did get Laffayette.
Too many.
Very well done sir. Familiar with much of the content, some was completely new to me especially the personal/side stories.
Whats a crick? 😆.... I enjoyed the Presentation and the history of Edge Hill this was a skirmish I just found out today visiting Abington. Gerorge and Martha Washington are related thru 7th Gen Great Uncle William Byrd and Aunt Lucy Parke Byrd🇺🇸 Howe🇬🇧.. I dont think im related to but that would also be cool.
Thank you! A very detailed account of this battle which deserves more attention and study. My 5th great grandfather was there with the Maryland Militia as shown in his pension application. Thank you! This was valuable information for me and my family.
He wrote an entire history of the early united states and then threw the massive book into the fireplace. He said "How can I unwrite the history that has already been written'..... our history taught to us has been a lie.....
Kind regards Niall O'Connell Dundalk Irelande 🇱🇷🥰🌹🇨🇮 thanks for sharing.
Very Instructive, Bravo !
I believe that @Drachinifel did a five minute guide (more or less) on HMS Roebuck but I'm not sure if he covered the ship in detail. Looking forward to watching this video in full. Happy New Year!
Thanks for the tip, Marcus. Nice job on the Pantheon, by the way.
Where can I get a copy of that book? I can’t seem to find anything online. David Fowler egregious villains
I love your video, and I plan on buying your book! My third Great-Grandfather William Rhodes enlisted into the 2nd Virginia Regiment on the first of Sept. 1, 1775. He participated in his first battle in the following December at Great Bridge, near Norfolk Virginia. In Sept. 1777, William was recorded being in the Light Infantry, which he would have been attached to Maxwell's Light Corps brigade, under Lt. Colonel Richard Parker. They fought the Battle of Cooch's Bridge on September 3, 1777. I am unsure if the Light Corps was disbanded, and the men to rejoined their own regiments for engagement Germantown or not. This is what is written about Virginia’s 2nd Regiment after the battle of Germantown in the newspaper Virginia Gazette on October 17, 1777: ”The heroism and gallantry of the second Virginia regiment I cannot help particularly mentioning; they would do honor to any country in the world. It is universally believed they behaved the best of any troops in the field.”
My 5 th great grandfather William Van Note was a pine robber
Do you have any pictures documents items or anything?
Thank you
Wonderful presentation!
This is Great
Thank you gentlemen for providing your talks here I am starting work on a project regarding my family history which I've found out happens to include famous historical figures instead of just everyday Americans and yall are giving me amazing insights I'm planning a graphic novel/zine exploring historical stories is ways historians look at them like stories instead of just facts
I am a descendant to Joseph Reed my name is Terry Reed
