    Haha, this was such a fun and cute reaction. You were both champs when it came to the djungelvrål. It's definitely an acquired taste. It's the kind of candy that most people just spit out when they taste it for the first time, so seeing both of you soldiering through it to the end was pretty impressive. Your struggles with the can of surströmming reminded me of that one time I bought a pack of a traditional Swedish Christmas drink without checking if I had a bottle opener at home, hahaha. But at least you got to try the knäckebröd with something. It's not a type of bread I'd ever eat without anything on it, but like you said, it's a great base for just the type of meal you made. (Surströmming optional.) It feels slightly weird that a furniture store is representing our cuisine worldwide, but at least they seem to be doing a good job at it. 😃

    As a Swede who actually likes surströmming I'm impressed of your both! And as first time eaters of this i would say it's the right way to eat it like this even though many surströmming connoisseurs might disagree :P Some people use flat breat instead of hard bread, my mother eats it only with the potatoes etc. But if I'm not mistaken, people in Korea already eat fermented fish? Edit: There's a reason why we don't see Korean people eating surströmming and doing reaction videos because you can handle it.

    Aahh...I was just wrote a comment on your vid from 4 month ago about eating "surströmming". How nice of you to give it another try and the right way to eat it. I guessed that you would like it and you and your charming dad did! I guess you also would like my favourite food; blood dumplings with fried pork belly - "kamsen" or "maeliklubbe" in the sami language - a sturdy meal after a hard days work. I am a country girl from the north of Sweden and my husband hunts so we eat a lot of moose meat and fish in the river. Smoked river bass (with butter and some spring onion) on thin barley bread and cold beer in the glass is heaven on a hot summer day! I grow a lot of veggies and foraging berries and mushrooms + wild greenery (stinging nettles is so tasty). Yes, I love food and cooking/baking... 😄

    This video show that my ideas of asian and nordic food share a lot in common taste! For "surströmming" (fermented herring) I would say that it is the fish version of kimchi but instead of the gochujang and veggie taste you have the fermented salt brine and fish taste. The smell is more intensive than the taste that is more of extreme saltiness. Eaten with what you had prepared and something sweet tasting in the glass it is a delicious meal.Greetings from a Swedish ahjumma!

    1:25 Marabou Oreo, that's like Swedish candy meets American cookies. Ive had oreo's before, they are alright. I prefer the superior Ballerina cookies, totally not cause I'm Swedish. I would suggest you try out Ballerina whenever you get the choice, they are similar to Oreo's but Swedish. 5:16 That's cause we don't technically sell them as "Swedish fish". that's what they are called in USA or Burgerland as I love calling it. Here in Sweden they go under different names, pastellfisk is what they are commonly called. They are also normally sold as part of a mix or sold as part of pick and mix, they normally don't have their own separate packaging/bag. They are sometimes also called "malaco fisk", hopefully this will help you find them easier in the future. 9:30 "I'm sorry" You don't have to be, salty liquorice is quite a regional thing for Sweden and Finland, it's an "acquired taste". I quite love salty liquorice, it helps growing up here and growing up with candies like that. I still remember those salty S from a little neighbourhood kiosk me and my family would go to, buy candy on Saturdays when I was a kid (they would sell big salty S for 1 krona per S).

    9:56 "Sweden doesn't have much spicy food" That is true, Swedish food lacks the typical spices some others have cause they don't grow naturally in Sweden. It wasn't until the brits opened up the road to trade with the Orient that we got spices, this is why classic Swedish "husmanskost" or traditional home cooked food is considered bland by some. Swedes are for that reason also not really good at handling really spicy stuff, the stuff that Swedes consider to be "spicy" would barely even cause some people to react..

    • @SvengelskaBlondie
      @SvengelskaBlondie 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shelleyseokim An easy way of finding spicier stuff is too look at the "asian foods" sections of grocery store's and supermarkets. That's where you normally find Sriracha sauce and other similar things. Some chains also have special taco sections, those have salsa that Swedes can consider to be "spicy" but aren't really. You can sometimes find spicier condiments outside of those sections, I think it can vary a bit between chains. Edit: you are welcome 🙂
