I loved this and the 2 videos of the teams. How do you watch the KHL? Right now I'm just watching game highlights on TH-cam. Is there another way?
I like the power forwards
Where you gone brother? I love these Russian hockey vids, I’ve literally recently start following Vladivostok because of your videos.
@@lb_75 I’ll be back. I’ve been busy the past few months but I’ll have a new series coming around February.
I kind of quit watching NHL and started to watch KHL instead because it’s woke free, Just good hockey and great vibes.
Mistake no.1. And that's a funny one. How do you come up with the idea someone would name an award after a middle of the pack player? The Continental Cup is named after the legendary soviet coach and the player Tikhonov is his grandson who happens to have the exactly same name and patronym for obvious reasons(named after his famous grandfather). The Continental Cup was named by a fan voting and and wasn't originally named after Tikhonov who was still alive at that time. The cup was given Tikhonov's name a year after him passing away in 2014 to honor his contribution to Russian hockey. Not a mistake, just added info. The playoff seeding has changed over the years. The current one with reseeding is rather new. You are not entirely correct about the foreigner limits. The rules for Russia based clubs you nemd correctly. For foreign teams there is vbasically a reversed rule. They only have to have 5 local players and the rest can be foreigners. That is mostly due to those countries lacking the talent pool to fill their rosters with competitive players from the country. The KHL and FHR quarrels are basically going nowhere at this point. But I note how you automatically assume allowing more foreigners in the lague is a good thing., It is not. If the KHL does that I will boycott them right away. We don't need to extend foreigner spots. Same goes for your assumtions about relations with the NHL. Nothing needs to be done in the relatioships to the NHL. The NHL is a foreign league doing nothing good to us. Their interests should be of no concern to us. Any transfer agreements(that is what you are aiming atm, right?) they can stick up theirs. We are not slave Europeans. If European countries wish to destroy their hockey development - it is their choice, not ours. You embarassed yourself by repeating propaganda lies about the KHL. You tried to wiggle your way out of it by pretending it to be about the "early days". They are still lies. Oil barons? NHL are teams are not owned by billionaires? Who the F are oligarchs? Stop repeating your wild stories about Russia created by western media sewers. Again, are those billionaire NHL owners oligarchs? Mob bosses? Which ones? Do you have any names? Just a shameful display of BS on your part. Most KHL faranchises. Come on then, make a list. Force and violence WHAT? You are delusional. Rightfully so? Apologize or GTFO. You are spreading ridiculous lies. Players were not payed, yes. Because some of those orgs were not very fit financially at times. It was a young league in development. Structure and regulations were changing and evolving. And in the end all those disputes were settlled. Stop spreading BS about anything STOLEN from players. Do you actually believe this crap? The KHL was more violent? YEahm hockey used to be a much more fun sport to watch in the past. The NHL has gone to shite like that too. I miss the old days when the leagues were "more violent". It used to be a full-contact sport. NEVER were the nforcers payed top-dollar though. Lying again. From day 1 the KHLtreated players no different than any other league. Your throw in is just dirty. You started of decent, then slid into so me hilarious bullcrap only and ignrant westerner could come up with. Look at your countries and cities. Clean up your own mess and stop inventing colorful fantasies about us. "I have no idea" is the best slogan for your video after all.
I've just started watching the KHL, so this was really helpful - thanks! Much easier to follow here in the UK, as the games are usually in the afternoon! Think I'm leaning towards Avangard.
@@olliebeck2952 good choice. They’re having a bit of a down year this season but they will be back at the top very soon.
@MedvedProspekt34 Hopefully things are starting to get back on track soon for them. A win today and they've also traded for Yakupov - but I'm not sure how that will go! Hoping for the best! 🥴
Interesting fact that Salavat Yulaev 3rd unifrom was presented 1 year before than Dallas one
Awesome. Wish we saw some highlights though
Nice channel, dude! Subbed
I have no connection to any KHL city but for some reason I’ve always been interested in Minsk as a city and Belarus as a country so I guess if I had to chose a team it would be Dinamo Minsk
Great video, looking forward to the rest of the series. Avangard, Avto and Barys look nice to support.
Really great video, especially for someone who doesn't know much abou the history of the KHL teams (like me). I'm considering rooting for Kunlun, Minsk, or Severstal...
Awesome video, earned a sub from me. Always great to see more content covering Russian and European hockey. Will be binging the rest of your videos after this! Have you considered looking at other European leagues or will you just focus on Russian hockey? Cheers from a Singaporean hockey fan.
@@jeromethomasss I mostly focus on Russia but I do pay attention to the other leagues as well. For right now I’m going to post content on Russian prospects and teams but there is definitely potential to make some vids about some of my favorite prospects from other leagues. Glad you like the vids👍
The Kriminal Hockey League

Greetings to Ukraine. How's the weather?
Hail Ilya Nabokov! #GoAvsGo
Does anyone know why the names are written in Latin characters rather than Cyrillic? Just curious.
@@ideale3183 I don’t know for certain but I’m pretty sure it’s to make the league more accessible to non-Russian speakers. There used to be other European teams in the league that didn’t use Cyrillic. They are trying to be more open towards fans and players from North America,Europe, and Asia to follow what’s going on.
ADMIRAL VLADIVOSTOK #1
Hesssss hereeeee
The goat the goat Sergei mozykin. Also can u do teams that left the khl plz:(). Also RIP rodion amairov
Interesting fact: Lada had a logo redesign because you aren't allowed to have a sponsor as your primary logo on your chest, and since their team is literally named after a brand they had to make a new logo
Well, Severstal has no such problems and they still using logo of thier main sponsor (the only difference is colour). Why?
I love your series and learning about the KHL! Keep it up!
Evgeni Nabokov ❤
Interesting facts about Sibir: the team was established not so long ago - in 2008 - and the franchise's first ever goal belongs to then 16-year old Vladimir Tarasenko while his father Andrei had been a part of Sibir for a huge portion of his career in hockey until his recent death
Wonder if any of the non Russian teams are complaining about their own cup droughts due to Russian team dominance.
Not really. The KHL is a good platform for them to develop their players for the national team.
Admiral's black and gold look way better than the Golden Knight's Kazan teams always have such beautiful jerseys
I think Amur is named after the river that Khabarovsk is located on (after which the tiger is named too). And, in my tradition, ТОЛЬКО СКА И ТОЛЬКО ПОБЕДА!
Do the SHL next!
Нет! Будут видео только про Россию и КХЛ! 😈
If I were these players I will leave Russia asap.
you are not soooo who cares
@@anastasiakozlova1766 hey killer
@@anastasiakozlova1766 Russia is a country that kills women and children
@@gerrylee1687 your assumption on other countries should be kept to yourself. Specially if you don’t have personal experiences. You sound rude and uneducated with your comments..
@@J.D.Padilla oh please I been to Russia. My experience I don’t want to get robbed or stabbed
Anyone who wants to read about the state of the Russian Super League before the KHl, there's a book called "King of Russia: A Year in the Russian Super League" written by Dave King, who was the first North American coach in the RSL. He coached Magnitogorsk when a very young Evgeni Malkin was on the team before he left for the NHL. It's really fun reading, and gives a very interesting take on the league from a foreigner's viewpoint.
Great book!! Highly recommend.
What would a Dave King know about that?
@@gogaonzhezhora8640 He was the first North American coach in the Russian Super League. Are you borderline illiterate?
I hope Kunlun can play more games in China soon as they shoudl
putin's propaganda league
🤡🤓
I remember when they used to have a russian league in the old NHL games 09 is what I remember specifically it was really cool.
I like their logos and jerseys, but they do look like beer logos in north america.
I used to have a Russian fan jersey where the logo was two beer glasses clinking together. This was a real minor league team called "Beer Kings", if I remember correctly. Not sure what happened to that.
Dispelling Michkov related conspiracy theories without mentioning his father was recently murdered is a move
After you wrap up the KHL you should do one of these for the OHL, WHL, QMJHL
I'd prefer to see more about foreign leagues, like the SHL (Swedish), Liga (Finnish), Swiss National, Extraliga (Czech), etc.
i love how vadim shipachyov is mentioned for every other team. a true league legend indeed
Nice vid, really appreciated it. I would have been interested in a deeper dive into Kunlun, including how Covid made them move to Moscow and what their outlook is going forward.
Correction only two survived the locomotiv plane crash The Mechanic and captin of the team but he Circum to his injurys later said my mayday air disaster. Type in mayday air disaster locomotiv disaster to see. Also can u do team that are no longer in the K
The KHL was created in 2008/2009. CSKA did not win their first championship in the new league until 2014/2015, the 7th year of the league. Since then, they have gone on to win the championship 5 times including back to back in 2021/2022 & 2022/2023. AK Bars & Metallurg is the next KHL teams with 3 championships & are the reigning champs. CSKA is better known as the old Central Red Army team
@@gazzarip I think you’re combining SKA and CSKA’s championships together but they are two separate teams. SKA won their first in 14/15 and CSKA didn’t win their first until 18/19.
Does anyone know where best to watch the KHL in the US? I'm totally fine with Russian language websites.
Actually in every betting site
I imagine the teams seamstress run out of O’s and V’s a lot
ТОЛЬКО СКА И ТОЛЬКО ПОБЕДА! One of our great stars who was not mentioned is Sergey Tolchinsky, the MVP of the 2021 KHL playoffs. A few other interesting facts: Kunlun Red Star ended up in the Western conference because of COVID restrictions in China. They used to play in the East, but it's unclear when will they return home. Also, many of their "Chinese" players are Canadians with Chinese passports. Severstal means "North Steel" in Russian, which is a pretty badass name if you ask me. Vityaz used to be known as a team with a lot of "tough guys" (enforcers) who often attacked players of opposing teams with intent to injure them. Now they're trying to get rid of this reputation, but as they haven't had a lot of good results this is what the franchise is primarily remembered for.
Great work!! Love the videos and all the information that is so tough for a lot of us to find in North America
Great video! As a North American fan it’s cool to learn about Russian hockey and how it’s set up. It seems like a high level. Need to find a team to root for
Excited the Sharks snagged him day 2 of the draft! Big boy 💪🏽
This videos are great and informative! Thanks for making them
Why aren’t the names on the jersey in Cyrillic?
I don't know for sure but i'm pretty sure its to make the league more accessible to non Russian speakers. A lot of the broadcasts have english text on the scoreboard and stat cards as well but they still speak in Russian on the PxP
@@MedvedProspekt34 thank you
They used to be. But when they expanded into other countries, they changed to English so they could be more universally read. I actually learned to phonetically read Cyrillic when I watched the old Russian Super League, so I could identify the players during the NHL strike. Actually, with the non-Russian teams (other than Belarus) leaving the KHL, I assumed they might go back to Cyrillic.
Because our bosses are idiots.
I'd be really interest in a video about how the Russo-Ukraine war has impacted the KHL; I imagine a lot of the cooperation with the NHL or European leagues is effectively over,a dn I wonder how that impacts them
Thats a good idea. I'd have to do a ton more research but the war has had a huge impact on the leagues ability to grow in terms of teams and gaining top quality players from other countries. A lot of the best international players in the KHL left when the original invasion occurred.
Awesome looking forward to more videos. My favorite teams are HC Vityaz, Lok Yaroslavl and Lada Togliatti.
Great vid can't wait for another part
