It is August 2022. Here in South Florida, the subtropics, we will begin to experience what I call 2nd Spring. Follow me for a tour of the "farm" as I prepare for what will be planted this 2nd Spring of 2...

    What I did was cut one of my unused queen excluders in half and used a couple of small screws and nuts keep it from collapsing together. My reasoning was the larger area allowed more honey to drip through.

    You can add apple cider vinegar to the middle section of the trap to attract the beetles.I just started using peppermint candies (four or five) throughout the hive. That suppose to discourage the beetles. Best of luck.

    Just found you site, Calvin. How's your progress? I'm a newbie beekeeper here, in the Cape Coral area (2 months 2 hives). Did you feed the nuc bees after placing them in the hive? I've been feeding mine continuously since I got them. I feel it really makes a difference in building comb. I have already split one hive and caught a swarm (now I have almost 4 complete hives). Things are happening fast which forces me to learn quickly. Best of luck!

    • @sbf_fl
      @sbf_fl ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Angela Dubois!! Great question. The tree collards have a sweetness even when “older”. The sweetness is noticeable both raw and cooked. The other thing is that tree collards are perennial vs their annual cousins. Thanks so much for watching!!!! Blessings!!!

    I just bought seeds of this variety. How deep do you need to loosen the soil for the roots to have enough room vertically? I love that you also have a producing banana tree! I live in Georgia and I do see banana trees sometimes in people's yards but I don't think I've ever seen bananas on them. It looks like you live in Florida, which is more tropical.

    • @sbf_fl
      @sbf_fl ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello iAMGiftBearer, thanks so much for watching!! Corn has a very long tap root. If you direct sow just plant about 2 inches down. If started in tray just transplant as normal. In both cases as long as the ground is not hard the corn plant will do the rest. Yes I am in Miramar, Fl just north of Miami Gardens. This year I have harvested 2 with 6 more to go and a dwarf plantain. Best of gardening success!!!!

      @themanifestorsmind 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea bananas are hit or miss in Georgia. I'm in south Georgia and I have a banana tree that was already on the property when we moved in. It hasn't produced in the three years we've been here. One of my former neighbors had 3 banana trees and they all produced a couple of years and then stopped producing. I've never seen a consistent crop on bananas in Georgia.
