The Bible in 2 Maccabees 2 says the prophet of God Jeremiah took the ark of the covenant before Jerusalem was to be invaded by Babylon and hid it in a hollow cave on mount Nebo where Moses climbed up and talked to God, and that the ark will stay hidden there until the Lord Jesus Christ gathers His people where only then will the Lord reveal it. Which means whatever the Ethiopians have is NOT the true ark of the covenant, instead it must be an attempt to replicate the original ark using the instructions named in the Bible.
