    This was SO helpful in more ways then you know! Literally, your story is so similar to mine, and I needed that. From clinical undergrad, to neuro because I am such a brain geek, I love neuro, it lights me up but for some reason not professionally, I realized I didn’t want to do therapy, etc, with individuals. I didn’t know what to do for grad. Then it hit me one day, I had taken a single I/o psych class in undergrad (10 years ago) and at the time I thought, I will never do this, business is so boring I want to be clinical. Yet, a decade later, here I am a business woman who loves helping my accounts and clients with their business. I’d been wanting to go to grad school but couldn’t decide for what, and then I remembered the I/o class and I was like, Omgosh that’s it, I naturally work with my accounts and clients like this. So I began looking into it and it actually lights me up. Now I’m starting my grad in I/o and I’m psyched. Thank you so much for to story! #Subscribed ❤

    Hello Tianna. I loved the video. Was searching a long time for this video. It helped me so much. I just wanted to know whether the companies while hiring I/O psychology graduates require us to have an MBA or another business degree. and also aren't all the job mentioned in the video already looked into by the HR? so will the companies prefer I/O graduates over HR?. Please answer this. I am confused whether i should choose I/O or clinical. And also does I/O have a lot of statistics?

    OMG - lumping all overemployed people together is silly and makes you sound like a hater. That's like saying that you can only have a Twitter account but not Twitter and a TH-cam account. As long as the employee is performing as expected, then why do you care what else they do? As long as the two positions are not a conflict of interest and there is no compromise in security then there should be no problem. Holding people back who are able to perform to your standards and simultaneously handle another position is a surefire way to cause animosity and breeds contempt. Oh and by the way animosity and contempt are some of the very reasons people seek overemployment in addition to the extra money that you definitely are not going to pay them.

    This is a product of companies not keeping up with inflation. I can't be expected to maintain a salary that was decent in 2019, striving for minimal raises while the cost of housing, food, gas, wood, fertilizer has increased 75-300% since Covid started. Even moving to a new job for a pay raise doesn't cut it either. We are doing what we have to do to survive. I can't ask for a 20k raise for inflation, I'd get laughed out the door. Nobody cares about a company and cares to "be a part of the family" when no company is going to provide a fair wage in 2022. The ubiquitous poor management also overestimate the amount of work being done in an office environment. 90% of what they ask of an I.T. worker is fluff work that doesn't matter at all to begin with. It's the same slacking at home vs at the office. It's just a matter of staring at a screen pretending to work. Granted some people are abusing this system and getting hired just to collect paychecks and get fired again.

    You are correct about OE but you get all the aspects of it wrong. People who o e are taking advantage of bosses not giving them enough work. They put in high-quality and they do as much work that is expected of them. They just don't go above and beyond because it's not worth it. The goal of a good overemployed person is to meet expectations and nothing more. As far as I'm concerned if I'm meeting expectations what else I do is none of your damn business.

    • @tiannatye8037
      @tiannatye8037 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Such a great question! The title has a lot of ambiguity for sure and there are a ton of different perspectives on the topic! Generally speaking, the main requirement is a MA, Psy.D., Ed.D., of Ph.D. to be referred to a psychologist, but the tendency to do so depends on the type (i.e. Clinical is totally different)! I/O psych doesn't require additional licensure or accreditation post-grad so you're more likely to hear the term used! My colleagues who have Ph.D.'s refer to themselves as Dr. INSERT NAME, I/O Psychologist.

    Okay, I hear your passion so I'll go ahead and ask.. I/Os often consult in the pharmaceutical/healthcare sector so I’d imagine there’s opportunity in hospital systems as well. I think the key is specializing... so if you excel in change management, or leadership development, or cross functional team work... you’d take that expertise and consult! Definitely search for examples of this and uncover if it’s all external consulting or if there are internal opportunities as well
