Is the real lectrons cable the same as the fake. I bought one and the cable doesn’t fit my yz250. Thought about getting a lectron cable but want to make sure it will fit. Would also be interested if the metering rods interchange.

Edited Part: If anyone can get a good one, the 2000 is a good model being the end of an era with Greg Albertine just coming off the AMA Outdoor Nationals in 99 as a champ on the “99” RM250. In 2000 most bugs were worked out with the exception of the known weak clutches. However it was never a perfect bike, but had great potential. After all, it was the AMA outdoor champ in “99”. From 96-2k the chassis, suspension, swing arm, ignition, head, power valve were all changed. @tonyblazer The Motocross Vault, has a great vid on the RM250’s production history. **Minor Motor Recipe for your 2k -Remove all casting flaws and sharp edges from the intake, exhaust and transfer ports at minimum. -open the intake -open the exhaust -polish exhaust manifold to mirror shine. Dont touch the transfer ports, or deck height without proven engineered calcs. No guessing! -Swap carb to Air Striker, or dial in stock carb to suit new big gulp of air. Get a good pipe! Also, dial your suspension in per your weight and riding style. These bikes need good fuel, never use ethanol. The 2k model has very high compression with a special spark plug needed to handle the violence within the combustion chamber. Race gas, or Av gas preferred. Also, the Vertex piston has an added oil hole where the intake bridge is known to cause excessive heat in the cylinder. The stock piston does not have this drill hole. When tuned properly these bikes absolutely shred and turn on a dime.

Something you should mention about Cerekote as well is because it is so thin, It hides nothing. So whatever imperfections you have on your pre paint part, it will show and from some angles it can even make the the imperfection more prominent. I have to disagree with you on cerekote fork tubes. Depending on where you live hard anodizing or specialty coatings can cost into the $1000's. For the average joe that does not have that kind of money. He can just blast his tubes and Cerekote them. Would i Cerekote fork tubes on a professional build with the intent to sell? Not unless it was requested by the buyer.
I started my 2001 YZ 426 rebuild a few years back, hope to finish it this winter.

Great video for someone trying their hand at doing a build for the first time. Explaining out each type coating and the best uses for each is what I've been wondering for awhile. I watch Charles over a mXrevival and he knows me. Been a loyal sub of his for quite awhile now. His builds i think are second to none. That's cool you gave him a shout out. He is definitely in the upper echelon of builders IMHO. I do though really appreciate this breakdown. Broke coatings down super simple and concise. This is what i have been looking for. Like just a dedicated coating video. You killed it!! You guys are building some sick bikes, so clean man and some air-cooled bikes as well which is my current interest. Sort of a long story to that. we did do an update but it got pulled down, so far so good, the fake lectron pulls really hard and is easy enough to adjust

I ended up throwing it in the bin.There is no way to adjust the metering rod...That was a deal breaker for me.
U can adjust the metering rod,ITS like hard first time for adjustmen,use pliers for adjust

Temu sells this carb for 60$and i instaled it on the rm125 starts first kick runs awesome for 1/8 th of the price of the real one!! Lectron wouldn't sell me tge metering rod due to its not for tgere carb so keep that on the hush lol there 🍆

save your money buy the fake one and buy an original needle. 🤣
I purchased what looks like one of these fake lecterns from my local dealer thinking I was getting the real deal. The carb has leaks, difficult to tune, fowls plugs a lot. hard to start after sitting over night. Very frustrating. It works great for altitude changes , fuel savings and great power down low to full throttle but tired of going through plugs. I have talked to Lectron a number of times trying to sort it out with no luck. Seeing your description of the 2 carbs and I see mine is exactly like your fake one. I’m interested in seeing how your testing goes. Been thinking of trying a smart carb to fix my problem. I won’t buy another lectron. Thanks for taking the time to test these and make awareness of this problem / deception out there. O ya I paid full price for my counterfeit carb. Ouch!

I love the red rocket 🚀 in background as well 😁 those are dream bikes for me hopefully one day 😁 I grew up in the 80s had an old KX80 as a kid disk front drum rear but I loved it so much brought smile to my face of course we all dreamed of a CR250 back then but to expensive. Yes a brand new yz500 is dreamland but I do enjoy these builds it’s great to watch sir thumbs up buddy for great content.

This video was more to slag off the China carb for not needing to sell a kidney. I would imagine just like the rip off PWK china carbs they perform reasonably well with a few caveats.
I just came across your channel and immediately a sub. Dude, this is insane an actual 85! This is sick! I grew up riding a clapped out 79 Yamaha IT175 throughout the 80's into the early 90's, but i remember for me the RM's were the coolest bikes. Just dug the colors, thought that that's what a motorcross bike should look like. This takes me back man. I remember drooling all over the magazine shootouts over the RM's, oh, i actually still have my old 175 as well. I just never got rid of it. Working on bringing it back to life. Cheers guys🤙
