As I got older and moved beyond being called "oreo" because I was half black half white and more people were accepting of me, I had to wrestle with the part about not really fitting in anywhere. I still feel that somewhat as a 46 year old. And it is something that I encourage mixed couples to think about when starting a family. Not to discourage interracial couples, but rather to prepare them that they are going to have to work to make sure their kids feel like they belong somewhere. And also, the mother is usually the one who raises kids. If she doesn't have any friends that are the race of her spouse, chances are their kids will never spend anytime around people who are the race of her spouse and the kids will feel less comfortable. A lot of times I see white moms who marry a black man but don't actually hang around anyone else black. Their kids end up only being around white people, unless the mom makes an effort to get the kids around other black kids/people. And this is sad because so many kids don't know anything about their black family/culture. It's also how people go two or three generations and have no clue they have black in them because they probably didn't spend time or learn about their black family. This is just an example, but it's definitely something I think more interracial couples need to think about. I am happy being mixed, but it has not always been easy, and I still don't fit in anywhere, really.

I tried this but because i live in Indonesia, it's really hot & uncomfortable 😣 I understand why the t-shirt material of the inner hijab has become common here. But, i'm wavy/curly hair even though I use mukenah (use hijab only a while) my hair that I had style become flat 😭 The two alternative is silk surgical cap and idk silk bonnet look like turban. Both of them is so expensive for me than normal inner hijab.

Hello, this was a great video, thank you for making it! really helpful. So, I'm actually planning on applying for an exchange program for their fall semester, can you give your opinion if that's a good idea, granted it gets really cold there and I'm from a warm country? Would it be very cold that outdoor activities or plans in general might get disrupted (will there be any social life for exchange students in the winter?) or would the spring semester be more enjoyable? I don't know if I'll be able to adjust to the cold there in the winters, so any thoughts on the weather would be appreciated!

Hey there I got accepted and had a few questions. Firstly, how strict is the campus rules really? Like can you not drink at all or bring people in without getting caught. Sounds like there is very little freedom. Secondly, how is the party life? Do you have to travel far to downtown in order to go out or is there someone’s on res or nearby parties/nightclubs.
