Dirt and Snow Coilovers unboxing | Unplugged Performance (Tesla Model Y)
I've been offroading a lot in cars, including in my Model Y. For example: I just busted the rear right camber arm in half near the base of a mountain last night and my car is stranded at the moment. And, nothing I see in your videos here could not have been safely done without the lift kit--ie: in stock configuration. Nevertheless, on the roads I am on, I have damaged or partially ripped off my trim nearly every time I've gone without a lift, because it truly needs the extra 2" of clearance. Watching your videos gives me hope that if I remove my other lift kit and 3rd-party broken camber arm from my Y and install this one instead, I may have better results than what I have now, and may be able to safely do my roads. Awesome work and thank you so much for this and for your installation videos!
Can you post a link to your rooftop tent?--in the description under the video
@@ElectricRCAircraftGuy overlandvehiclesystems.com Thanks for watching and sorry to hear about that rear control. Haven't had an issue with the unplugged arms I installed.
@@autotrap2370 I'd love to share photos and info but can't post links here. If you shoot me an email I'll reply with the link. Again, thanks for your videos.
Please add links to the parts you bought. It looks like you bought the Unplugged Performance "Tesla Model Y Dirt and Snow Pro Coilover Suspension Lift Kit" as well as their "Tesla Model Y Billet Adjustable Rear Camber Arm Set", right?
What you're tightening at 17:59 is what controls the height, right? At your setting, how much extra ride height did you add? I need a *minimum* of 1.75" extra ground clearance to be able to take my 2024 Model Y on the camping roads/trails I want to go on.
Thx for the video looks very nice and what a great upgrade! I’m getting ready to install it in my 997 Turbo. Cheers
Any idea if the PCCM plus will do a "vehicle handover"? When you do a battery disconnect on the 997.1, you can lose the seat heaters and the Homelink. I'm told the only way to get them back is to crawl to the dealer and have it reset with the PIIWIS. Thank you, -Tom.
Do you have stock tires still? Can you go any bigger with this lift? I don't want to go huge but feel like the Y struggles on even rough gravel roads.
BFG Ko4 R18 255 55 on 1552 turbomac wheels. Coilovers can go higher but the control arm is the limiting factor.
Scary
The proper way to adjust it is by adjusting the spring tensioners on the side of the unit. The set screw is for safety reasons since the PCM is fairly heavy it could injure someone in an accident. I’m not sure it’s necessary any longer since the PCCM uses metal locking tabs with serrated teeth to grab the frame.
My volume is still low on car play and blue tooth after doing this configuration.. have you had this problem
That's aftermarket chinese crap
hello, I just installed the back up camera, camera has been detected but when I backup camera doesn't turn on, any idea?? thank you
volume is terrible, very disappointing unit
Same issue
Mabey it is Bore score. it is common in the 997
Thank you for sharing the knowledge with the community
What was your realistic range on this camping trip? What's your range with with setup (minus camping tent) around town? Are you able to calibrate your Y's computer with 18" wheels? Do you think you could do similar dirt roads on 19" all terrain tires? Great video. Thanks!
For me it would be interesting what functions stays behind the „Car Setting“. Did someone knows it?
I pressed the "Format the EMMC" Button. Now the PCCM+ starts every time with the tuner mode, not with the homescreen. Can I undo this?
Thanks for posting. I have been told that the radio reception on the PCCM Plus is not as good as that prduces by the original unit. DO you find that to be the case?
To be honest I don't listen to the radio, did however notice the volume is not as loud.
Looks great.
Can you share your wheel and tire setup? Also, what's your range with this setup? Thanks.
Check my drirt and snow coilover install video. I go in detail about what it takes to mount these wheels.
@@autotrap2370 sounds good. Do you still like the setup?
Great videos you make, thanks for sharing with the off-roading Tesla community 😊. Is your suspension at stock height or you’ve raised it up 2 inch which apparently is the highest raise the suspension offers? Cheers from Montréal!
Interesting stuff! Im guessing with the saturation settings you could set it to monochrome (for more classic car vibe) - is there anyway to set the screen hue to orange to match the 996 dash?
Are you recording with an early 2000s flip phone?
Any chance you can shake the camera more and get it even more out of focus?
Thanks for the video. I have a 997 turbo and have been on the fence about purchasing this and whether I can do the install myself. CAlled my local dealer and they wanted $2000 for install! Definitely gonna try and tackle this myself.
How can I contact you?
Hello, boss. I am a Chinese manufacturing company. Source factory. I watched your videos and found out that you are an expert at reinventing android players. I have a team working on all Audi cars, all Porsche cars. Land Rover Jaguar is all about the development and sales of android screens, so can we have more in-depth communication and cooperation, price and service advantage!! Look forward to cooperating with you

Did you or anyone else find any more detail about the Radio area setting ( in Factory_Msg)? Im using a USA sourced PCCM that requires the Europe setting. Easy to change but radio frequencies are still set to US standard ( eg 95.3 instead of the required 95.4 ). Cannot seem to find anyway to save the new setting.
Interesting question which I too was wondering about since considering buying the cheaper US version. I had hoped that just changing location to Europe in the subsettings and swapping to DAB would do the trick but that is maybe not the case based on your experience? Would you share your process so far?
@@olafkon have done exactly that, but tried various ways of trying to save setting. Backing out through the menu. Powering off. Waiting to power on again.. all same result.. setting not changed.
Wondering if there is any way to increase volume/gain for bluetooth/USB in these dev settings... my iphone is rather quiet at Volume 30.
Maybe a setting on the phone? Can you turn absolute volume control off?
I have the same exact issue. Did you find a fix?
@@David-hn5ix car-system- configure pccm+ - put in reverse and you should be sorted. I had the exact same issue and now it’s really loud
@Lee Shepherd yes I have done that. Tuner is very loud. Bluetooth and carplay are not loud enough
there is a setting inSound/Volume where you can adjust the volume of the tuner, bluetooth and USB up and down. It works for the tuner but I notice no difference with the bluetooth and usb@@David-hn5ix
Nice. I've been considering this set up for my Model 3.
Thank you for sharing this content! Is your MY an actual performance model? If so where can I look into those wheels and tires?
This is a performance. The wheels can be found here: fifteen52.com/products/turbomac-rally-white?variant=39971425157186
I go in detail about the wheels and tires in the first bit of th-cam.com/video/MXGkRm98GBM/w-d-xo.html
@@autotrap2370 Awesome! Thank you for the info.
Great and detailed videos! Very informative. Would this suspension also work for a RWD? We love in rural areas, so dirt roads and roads that get washed out or need to be patched. So the road clearance and better ride comfort would be an added bonus.
Hi does this PCCM have apple car play / android auto?
Yes it does 😁
*Promo SM*
Great videos, thanks for sharing. Can I install the dirt+snow at a lower ride height without replacing the UCAs? Of course this would limit the lift range but would also save $2k
Technically you could match the stock ride height and would not need to adjust camber or even perform an alignment at all. Anytime you change the ride height of a vehicle the camber and toe will change and an alignment will be required. Considering camber is not adjustable you would need to add the adjustable control arms to avoid tire wear if the right height is changed from stock
@@autotrap2370 Good feedback so, the stock UCAs are not adjustable at all so installing this lift kit really requires the control and camber arms to be replaced or else you just end up with worn tires or the same ride height as stock. Have you found any other suitable adjustable control arms other than from unplugged?
@@geoffmanchester6287 I agree with this statement. Google search shows mountain pass performance offers adjustable control arms. They don't look as adjustable as the unplugged parts, might want to confirm with them that they will work for lifted applications. As it's more common to lower a vehicle then raise it. So the camber adjustment would be opposite in the case of lowering. When you lower a car the camber goes negative. When you lift a car the camber goes positive.
Has the overall ride quality improved from the suspension and wheel/tire transition? If so, what is it comparable too?
TBH the stock set up is a bit stiff (especially on a Performance). Since this suspension is dampening adjustable you can tune to your taste. In terms of wheels and tires they are heavier then the stock Uberturbines, you can feel this weight on regen and acceleration. If you are looking for a comfortable ride go with the Unplugged Lux Coilovers and the stock 19" wheels. One thing I do enjoy about my 18" w/all terrains is the durability. I hit pot holes, drive over crumbs, drive fast on ruff roads and without having to worry about bending a wheel or blowing a tire.
Did you put the silver screw back in the side?
Yes, but I put it in the left side instead of the right to avoid a trim gap in the upper right side. Check out my trim gap video for me details.
Just put these on my car the other day. Love em!
What model Y version? Performance or LR? And ok for city / highway driving too?
Performance, and this is my daily. So city, road trips all that.
@@autotrap2370 awesome. So would this be a softer city ride compared to the standard Lux UPP version? In Melbourne Oz I’ll be doing city, snow, beach town driving.
@@simonchambers226 these have 32 levels of dampening adjustment. All the way from super hard to super soft. The dampening adjustment is easy to access if you are lifted.
Looks great. Are those wheels still available for sale?
They are and they also come in black fifteen52.com/collections/street-wheels/products/turbomac-rally-white?variant=39971425157186
Looks great. I just got the Dirt and Snow Coilovers on my Y too!
The black top is the transductance transmission hydrator unit. It allows and passes misinformation readily so that the individual or individuals again will continue the transmission of misinformation. Think of it as like the data packets delivered via the internet. Pieces here there, but they eventually get digested so dehydration is prevented. Hence the hydrator unit.
😂🤣👍🏻
Thanks for sharing this video. Insightful.
Which tire and wheel are you using? We have a performance Y and am thinking to do this conversion.
Check out part one of this installation video I go in deep about my wheels and tires.
@@autotrap2370 Can you please create a video on how to change the suspension height from lifted to stock? It's not clear on UP's site.
@@MidniteSon yeah I can take a front and rear wheel off and talk about it. The adjustments on the rear shock and front struts threaded housing is actually just preload. To adjust height in the front you have to remove the strut and turn the base of the assembly. The part that mounts to the lower control arm. To adjust the rears you need to remove the rear spring then then change the adjuster on the spring. It's not easy to change ride height with these coilovers. I will make a quick video talking about how to do it. Thanks for the recommendation.
Did you tried to contact a reverse camera?
I did not. Not positive there is actually a spot to plug in a rear camera.
@@autotrap2370 O... so d do you meant there is no spot to plug the camera or it is not working if you plug it in?
@@autotrap2370 Do you mean there is is no spot to connect the camera or it is not working if you connect it?
Thanks. Press and hold “Configure PCCM Plus” for 10 seconds to enter diagnostic mode. Came in handy when troubleshooting during installation.
Does the unit have HD Radio?
Does not seem to have HD radio.
@@autotrap2370 but this unit does have AM/FM right? The European version has DAB I believe.
@@imp450 correct has AM and FM. Connect to the existing harness for AM and FM antennas.
