Thank you for educating me! Able to find what I needed on Amazon’s US site because you went into detail. Appreciate this. Be safe and keep creating excellent content!
Oh you legend! Cheers for the great feedback. Happy camping!
Finally someone actually explaining how to use them I mean they seem self explanatory but yea lol
TH-cam bringing us the how-to's we didn't know we needed!
Phat Pho at Newstead is best
Thanks for sharing
Thanks heaps for this!!! Especially the tip with the water crystals!
I’m going to Birdsville soon so this was cool to watch
Alex and Olly are dumb, don't be like Alex and Olly 😂
Hahaha 😂
I don’t know why they went out or business but so far they’ve been the smallest and sturdiest collapsible and portable toilet I’ve seen! Nothing in the states comes near (I’ve looked). States has cheap looking and questionable sturdiness. I wish the video showed how it collapsed down to store. I’d love to see if I could make my own
Thankyou, I'm searching for hiking camping suitable options that are affordable... I'm thinking adding activated charcoal to this maybe helpful as well. I have looked into "tofu" kitty litter... I've never used it though...i don't have a cat. It's basically an absorbent option made from biodegradable plant based waste .
When you make a video, frickin' up your record volume. It's so low to be frustrating!
Fair call. It sounded good in my headphones and then we've since had a few remarks about the volume on different TVs etc. Cheers for the feedback. Definitely something we've put more focus on as we've made more vids.
Was I bad, when Olly filled Jerry can up, I took a screen shot of the Shed thingy and used Google Search we WILl GAve it a go one day lol.
You cheeky monkey! Hey, if you're gonna go to all that effort than you deserve the good spot too. Maybe we'll see you there one day!
Congrats guys, missed your camping adventures
Just stumbled across your channel. Really refreshing, thank you!
THANK YOU! Thank you so much for this video. You’re right, this is not talked about. We have a pop up pooper that my partner purchased in 2013 that has hardly been used. We’re now needing to use it and I was struggling to find options. So glad to find this know what we need to do.
Nice one! How good is the pop up pooper! 2013, that's great. Hope it works well for you.
Where do you place the dry/ dirty clothes? Cheers, r
While showering we hung them over the top of the shower. Alternatively, we'd like to get a light basket/bag to pop them in. Afterwards, the dirty clothes go straight into a dry bag in the dirty gear bag on the spare tyre. Lemme know if that answers your question!
I made a home made camping toilet. toilet.i used kitty litter a natural compostela one. I'll share a link I'd you like
I've been looking at the marketted kits and as you've said, the cost of the consumables is ridiculous. Thank you for doing the research and producing this content. Cheer
babe I think you're thinking of coconut plantation which is down the other end of the beach I used to go there all the time to as a kid it was the best. (it's sadly completely shut now and nothing remains) It had a little golf course a tennis court a pool it was so good
what's doing with the scratched arms?
Olly went on an overnight walk and the track was full of lantana... he got destroyed 😂
When attached to the vehicle is a showering side effect constant muddy ground right outside your door?
We've had no dramas thus far. It's always dried well but I suppose it depends on the climate you're camping in. Cheers. 🏕️
The Pop-Up Pooper has since gone out of production. We found ours on Facebook Marketplace and see them come up often. Alternatively, there are plenty of other lightweight options out there! Happy camping!
Finding it difficult to buy the pop up pooper..
Hey Matt, we popped this in the description but are aware not everyone reads it. It's since gone out of production. We got ours second hand on Facebook marketplace and have seen them come up from time to time. They are out there but there are plenty of other lightweight options too. Cheers!
@alexolly thanks for your reply..already bought the water storage crystals and will use ir tips regardless of what portable toilet I end up getting..thanks..
You should narrate for a living! Very soothing and great videography.
I'm chuffed! Thank you!
Could you please give me Australian suppliers of Popup pooper. Thankyou
Hi Leonie, as we said in the video description the pop up pooper is no longer in production. We got ours on Facebook Marketplace for $15. If that's something you're interested in you could definitely get a deal. Otherwise there is two similar options listed in the description. It's certainly a shame they discontinued them, because they are great!
Could you have used a silica cat litter?
We certainly considered it! But, ultimately ruled it out because it was more expensive, not biodegradable and environmentally harmful. This way just worked better for us. Cheers 👍
❤
Good setup👍👍👍
Hi Alex and Olly. Have just recently discovered your videos, love your style. This trip of yours yours was 2 yrs ago so not sure if you will see this comment. We are kiwis looking to come over to Oz in 2024 and travel as you are doing - ute and tent (no dog). We are looking for some more technical info, a ton of it on You Tube, and plenty of reviews, but looking more for the personal experience and recommendations from those traveling with ute and tent. Liked your camping gear (the 10 tips) episodes. Are you able to say more? Like, what electrical system - dual battery of portable power pack; what sort of roof rack; what brand of fridge;; your awning 2.5m long? the Oztent RV is 2.4 long packed, does this sit flat on your rack.; what tyre infalting, deflating device? Hope you can assist.
Hey Brett! We'd be happy to answer all your questions. If you're okay to leave your email address here we'll shoot you an email. Congrats on the trip next year! We can definitely say it's worthwhile. Cheers, Alex & Olly.
If you're struggling with the sound levels please consider using the closed captions. They have been edited after receiving some feedback about the music being too loud. Cheers!
why do you need the music playing when you are talking .
You're right, the levels aren't great. When editing, it was perfect in my headphones but when playing elsewhere, not great. However, I decided to leave it up anyway. I endeavour to learn from my mistakes and do better on future videos. Thank you for watching as much as you could. I'll be sure to make sure the captions reflect the video appropriately so perhaps future viewers can use those if needed. Thanks Allan!
Where can you buy the pop up pooper please, I could not find the answer on from the video or comments.
Hi Irene, the details are in the description. Unfortunately, they don't make it anymore. However, we see them on Facebook marketplace and Gumtree all the time if you're in Australia. If not, there are similar products out there on Amazon and other stores. Best of luck 🤞
Many thx for your very informative vid. I’m looking for a shower tent to put on my old Prado. Kickass and Kings are the same price atm. The Kickass looks better made but there’s no sandwich plates to hang the brackets off a Kings roof rack so a bit extra cost to buy Kings brackets I’m guessing. Don’t know why Kickass don’t supply them. Think I might get a Kickass and do a trip into town for the brackets ☺️🌸
Does the sun roof leak in rain?
We've been in some pretty heavy downpours and it's never leaked. It's been great
Hey guys, check out Justin Brown’s YT channel Primal Video, on How to TH-cam, a Kiwi up the Sunshine Coast, may help with your algorithm and views. Love your content, so over cashed up miners and their $300k setups, You guys down to earth and real. Keep up the camping trips. From a Kiwi in Brisbane.
Cheers mate, we appreciate it. Will certainly check it out!
Great video. I have just been looking up the safety data sheets to get the chemicals. I got the same result so confident I have it right now. Poo powder also has an enzyme. Was thinking of adding napisan in the mix for the enzyme and fragrance.
Thank you for your great review. If you like crispy pork banh mi, I think you should visit Viet Fresh Rolls on Watland street - Springwood. Cheers…
Oh! That's a favourite of ours! Great minds think alike!
How long do the green bags last before they start to break down?
The website doesn't state a specific amount of time. Only that they break down in compost. This is only one product in particular. Let us know if you find something you like better!
OMG. Thankyou. I’m new to camping and 4WD and have been really worried about this problem. Love it.
Mehrts is beautiful , I have a 4 yr old brown Labrador and “Murphy” comes on every trip I do. There are a lot of places we can’t go but I wouldn’t leave him at home , I live in Victoria and most of our trips are in the Vic High Country so there’s plenty of places he can go . We get away at least once a month , I generally pack the night before a trip and he definitely knows we are heading out to camp . I also have a RV5 plus which is perfect for the 2 of us . Loved your vid and your advice is spot on , thanks for taking the time to post .
Cheers Luke! We appreciate you taking the time to comment. She now thinks she can come on every camp trip and we have to pry her out of the car the poor thing. They just love it, don't they?
Great video , I feel the same way about my RV5 plus . Can I suggest in windy conditions if using the annex to put extra guy ropes out , 2 on each of the front poles and 1 on each of the middle poles . I ve had mine in 50kpm winds and with the extra ropes it was fine . 🤙
Great tip!
Yep, it's daikon. Weird for there to be no coriander, especially from Inala.
I think that's the one that was called "Uncle Ho's" or "Uncle Ho" when it opened, but then a lot of the Brisbane Vietnamese (the long-term ones that came as refugees back in the day) protested, since Uncle Ho is the name Vietnamese give to Ho Chi MInh, someone those that supported the southern government see as the one who ended their country and forced them to flee. They changed the restaurant name pretty quickly after that. Lettuce on banh mi is indeed a strange thing, as is caramelised onion. And aoli? Seriously?!! Won't be trying that one.
Just checked, and no, it's not the same place - I was wrong. Turns out Uncle Ho changed their name to Aunty Oh's Bia Hoi, but never recovered from the fallout from the original name and shut down years ago. It was run by a Swede, so probably wasn't authentic, anyway (much like District 1, it seems).
Tks for visiting this place to do an honest review. I drive pass this place very often and have always wondered how good is the food there. Guess its a pass for me...
Thanks mate. If there are any others you were considering let us know and we can do the recon for you
cafe sang at inala civic centre, in the middle outside area. they use tiger rolls and everything about it is amazing especially the pate i always get 2 😈
Oh sounds amazing! I will certainly add it to our list!!
Getting stabbed for a pork sandwich in Inala 😘👌
Ngon means delicious in Vietnamese. The Vietnamese have two types of bread, the one they prefer for banh mi is "empty" bread, which is all crunch and light on the soft stuff inside, so this was probably pretty authentic bread. Seems you guys are pretty committed to the quest, so if you don't mind, I'd like to link to your channel in a post on my community tab. I think many of my subscribers would be keen to check it out.
Sure, hopefully they find it interesting! Cheers.
@@alexolly I'm sure at least some of them will enjoy it. Let me know if you suddenly get a boost on your "Is there too much meat??" video. I wanted to share the channel rather than a single video, but seems TH-cam doesn't have that option, so picked a random banh mi video. Hope you keep doing the banh mi content for some time!
Will do! Thank you for the support!
Hey guys, that was me with that recommendation. I discovered bahn mi in the 90’s, while working with a Vietnamese guy in Minneapolis, and then never rediscovered them until recently when Vietnamese has become more common. I’ve been on a quest like you to find the best, and Ngon has been that for me until now, I’ll have to try some of your recommendations around Brissy when I’m down there. Let me know when you’re up this way next for the best coffee in town 👍
Looks pretty good.
Was excellent. Let us know if you get around to trying it!
I think the absence of crispy pork may mean it's more authentic. I lived in Vietnam for a couple of years, and crispy pork wasn't really a thing you see when you go to places that sell banh mi. That said, I love a good crispy pork banh mi here in Aus. I used to really enjoy the Banh Mi Roast Pork (which is crispy pork) at Paiise in Algester, but then it became inconsistent - brilliant some days, pretty average others. The best in Brisbane according to me and my Vietnamese partner used to be the one at Rocklea Markets, but last time we went, it looked like it had changed owners and the banh mi wasn't as good as it was previously, so now, I don't know. I'll be following your quest for Brisbane's best banh mi with interest...
When was the last time you heard of someone being murdered in a tent? The home is a far more dangerous place than a tent.
Alex, you did professionl . catch you later-=)
If you’ll travel as far as the Sunshine Coast, try the Ngon Cafe at Maroochydore, the Bahn Mi are amazing!
Excellent! Thank you. We do get up there occasionally so we will make sure to pay it a visit, thanks for the recommendation!
Try Ming Mings in Wilston 👍
Adding it to the list!
