Pavement is no fun, lets engage that 4 wheel drive!
Hey! I'm Doug from the PNW. I enjoy getting out and away from the hustle and bustle of the city and see the things that most people cannot get to.
Along these off road adventures, you will see us in a variety of rigs including Jeeps, Toyotas, Samurais and even the rare Mitsubishi Montero.
We will be building these rigs together and using them for what they are made for!
Come along with me on these journeys with my friends and my Jeep Wrangler and see the road less traveled!

YOU NEED THIS Hook Road Cargo Rack In Your JK Or JL
มุมมอง 3722 หลายเดือนก่อน
I got tired of hearing all of my tools and recovery gear bouncing around in the back of my jeep while off road. Sometimes I even saw it bounce high enough in my trunk area that I could see it! I got the Hook Road Interior Cargo Rack to help organize and strap stuff down. The weight capacity of the cargo rack is 300 pounds. All my tools and gear is about a hundred pounds so it should stay plenty...

Can you turn the music down when you are talking?
Will do for future videos.
When you said time to reassemble everything i was thinking how in the hell is he going to get al the dried mud on the garage floor back on the jeep. 😂
With hopes and dreams! Haha My jeep tends to stay pretty darn dirty.
Much easier to winch it on
How is it easier? Made it up perfectly fine.
That place look awesome man.
It is similar to Moab. I need to get back there again. Possibly with a new vehicle to take me there!
I have a 2002 wagon, I've had it to 155. Had my buddy pace me in his Corvette to verify speed over 140. Personal opinion, the back end of the new one looks like they got their tail lights from Honda. Love that my bugeye is all mechanical over all of the electronics of the new one.
Yeah the mechanical aspect is very nice. I have toyed with the idea of getting a 90s 2.5RS coupe and building that.
So,, you did not narrow the housing?? How did it fit the car,, are you satisfied or do you wish that you had narrowed it up? Very curious bcuz I'm doing this exact same swap,, 8.8 into a '65mustang. Really would appreciate your response back. Thank You
I did not narrow the axle what so ever. I haven't had any issues with it at all either. Has worked extremely well since I have installed it.
I wonder. I have on order the 2025 Willy's two door with the extreme Recon package. And it not being the Rubicon, I understand I will not have the front lockers. I think maybe that also was part of what I see at the examples shown at the end. Is that correct?
In the examples at the end, none of them had any lockers turned on what so ever for a fair comparison to the sway bars. Still on my jeep three plus years later and still one of the best upgrades I have ever done to my jeep!
@@4WDTrek Thanks
It’s pronounced Naa chese . That’s a really fun trail if you have the right rig. Lockers definitely help I wouldn’t do it without them at least rear locker for sure. Having tires that stick out past your fenders possible rock guards. It’s really easy to get damage on the body. But it’s definitely a fun trail and a bucket list .
Yep. Definitely an awesome trail
This looks pretty straight-forward and simple to replace. I imagine the one on my 99 XJ should come off easily since everything else is pretty rotted under it. Driving around stuck in two high is no fun when you live out in the boonies. I have been wanting to use my 4WD to go playing in the snow and mud.
It definitely is straight forward and easy. Highly recommend! Probably takes about half an hour or so to complete the job.
Did the 2in pinion offset give you any problem with vibration? Great video.
I havent had any issues with it at all. Drives nice and smooth! Thank you!
Can it fit with best top freedom rider on JLU?
@@TheScoobysnack08 I am not sure with that specific top.
So how they holding up ? They rusting ? How are they off road?
They have held up extremely well. I've scraped through to bare metal in a few places and I just spray them with some paint on those spots. I did dent them pretty hard on one side a few months back, but that was the entire weight of the jeep being pushed against them and a rock. Something most would never do. Still would highly suggest them to anyone!
This video sucks
Cool story bro!
Great job
Thank you!
Where would I go to find the front suspension setup you have but for coil overs
@KillerDudeT19 it is the same set up i purchased, but you select coilovers as the option.
Did I miss a section of your video? did you shorten the axle tubes? I don't see any portion that deals with that... or did you leave the entire rear end the same overal length?
I did not shorten the tubes at all. I left them full length. Havent had any issues at all with it either
What a blast!!
It was a super fun day for sure!
I will love to own one
They are pretty great rigs!
How are these holding up in the long term. My wifes jkur has a wet front passenger floor. Going to order a set but wondering if it worked long term.
No leaks since I did them. Dry as can be inside the jeep!
How do you flash the metal shavings out after drilling
I used a magnet to fish them all out.
5:38 for anyone that wants to fast forward! LOL
🤣
Our Keitruck in about 9.5 minutes! [GRASSHOPPER] Thank you for watching.
That truck is super awesome! I wanted to come back and film more of it but ran out of time!
I have the same rack in my jeep but I definitely didn't feel the need to make a video out of it 😂
Cool
@4WDTrek Good video though!! I took out my back seat & made a platform. It's perfectly level & both front seats still have full articulation, I did it by using 3/4" plywood for extra strength, then I painted it all black it looks amazing & strength wise it can hold lots of weight, I then took a 4" egg crate mattress topper & custom cut it so it's a perfect form & not to lose any space then I bought a camouflage (mossy oak) bed sheet to put over it ,the reason for that is now things cannot slide around in the back because the items seap down into the egg crate when smoothed down & also iv slept in the back laying all the way out and my feet do not hit the tailgate has lots of room, it serves lots of purposes, I have a full rack I got the DV8 half rack so now I'm able to put all my things on the roof & the inside is empty to lay down it's super awesome, I actually got caught in a white out in Northern Utah/ Wyoming border & it saved my life I was in the back cooking food 🍳 on the rack you made a video about, oh yah I'm about to do a diesel heater instal on the jeep. Anyways man cool video
So 4 3/8" from the back of the dust cover inward is the center line for the new perches? I apologize if the question is dumb, I'm new to welding/fabrication
I would highly suggest measuring your own axle and find the exact placement for yours. There are some different axles out there and some are slightly shorter or longer.
Great video! Can’t wait for more bus videos!
Had a lot of engine issues. But I'm back on the bus as of this weekend!
@ oh man that’s a bummer! Glad you’re back on it tho, love the videos!
I gotta get more videos out then! Haha
I love just how many ways there are to customize a jeep!
Like a Swiss army knife!
They make Toyotas
?
Hey did you ever own a purple 99 xj? I just bought one last week and the previous owner said that you had it before they did! Kinda crazy but i thought id ask
I have never owned a purple one, but I had a buddy who owned one and it is for sale right now. Or maybe you bought his and I worked on it for him?
@ no clue to be honest, just going off what the previous owner had told me haha.
@@justaydan1325 I talked with that previous owner. He is one of my best friends. I 100% worked on that jeep quite a bit.
@@4WDTrek Thats wild! also kinda cool as hell.
@@justaydan1325 It is in a few videos here on the channel, including a trail repair of the starter while in the middle of the moses lake sand dunes.
Dunno if you have found it by now, but there's a fairly easy way to kill that seatbelt alarm permanently. Among the first things I do to my vehicles anymore, I'm slow rolling in the gravel and two tracks and in and out constantly taking pictures. I sometimes don't wear my belt! Grew up an hour from Moses, still have not played at the dunes.
@@UncleBildo I did fix that annoying chime shortly after that video. You should check out the dunes! They are fun!
Yo, that Jag is off the hook!
One of the top builds for sure! Was good seeing you again this year bud! Bring that thing up to Washington and come wheeling with me!
What additionally did you need to do in the rear? Did you have to do the extended brake line ( do you have to bleed the brakes) ? How much was the lift actually? Thank you!
Did have to later replace the carrier bearing and adjusted the pinon angle a bit. Did not extend the brake line but just adjusted the bracket so it gave more room. I cannot remember the price of the lift as my buddy was the one who purchased it.
@4WDTrek so I guess it didn't settle as much as you were hoping???
@@flacktastic21 It did not settle much in the rear at all.
Had some med issues that kept me away from my project. Back at it again.. How / Where ( what part of the locker) did you clamp in that vise to torque the ring bolts, so as to not damage the locker housing?
I clamped it on the input of the axle shaft. I did pad around the vice as not to damage the flange. I then also held the entire assembly to assist when torquing as to not have it rotate inside the vice.
is that a ram or an f150 at the 7min mark? its the most beautiful truck i have ever seen in my entire life. bar none. lol
That would be a Ram truck. Pretty much the same model and year ish as my truck.
Quick tip: When you slow down the video, separate video and audio so you don't slow down the audio. With ambience like that, it will feel more natural.
I must have missed some. I thought i fixed them all. Good tip!

Always personal opinions on different cars and builds. Some mild, some wild.
Most of the builds I'd agree with you, but there's is still a few truly unique builds.
@@Questionable_creations Like your name implies, Questionable. Not saying that you're incorrect, it's just crap lately and the designer's admit to it.
@@4WDTrek Most of this crap is all sponsorship and one month builds, not creative just sales. Bob Grant wasn't doing anything like this as well as anyone from, nevermind. Yes I know how this sh!t goes and I know for a fact you have zero clue as to who I actually am. Want a hint? Ask any Square body Suburban and Square C-10. Not disclosing my name, just saying this is just slapped together rigs. $250k rigs next year or two on Craig's or Market for $50k, constantly happens.
@@4WDTrek Sorry, rant over. It's just never going to be like it was when the purists were building their rigs and cared, now it's just for shock value like it is on the Internet, zero substance.
That DeLorean is awesome. Ferrari V8 and not LS swap, is something new.
